Loud Music is right, they wont let you cache game disks because of people inevitably pirating games that way.

LoudMusic is maybe right in terms of features, but you are totally wrong and, as usual - as all people who presume instead of know - you don't know what you're talking about.
Caching game on PS2 HDD is totally possible and in use right now. You can play FFXI from HDD, Everquest and Biohazard Outbreak, and those are the games I know about.
GT4 will not be an excuse in caching the game onto HDD, and pirating the game from HDD is not an PS2 feature (and it will never be due to certain hardware limitiations and specs), it's an clear Xbox feature, but since I do not condend pirating I will not make any further explains.
I was talking about pirating the PS2 game from HDD (which is like totally unnecessary, but as I said I don't want to talk about piracy), and not about playing pirated game on PS2.
It was an hardware-related topic.

What the hell are you talking about? This isn't a "feature" on any console. The only way it's being done now is with mod-chips and hacking the XBox. This is currently an "illegal act", though I disagree with that law. If I own it I should be able to do as I please with it.
Actually it's a software and hardware related topic. It takes software to copy the game to the hard drive. And I still don't see why it's unnecessary. Do you understand that copying the games to the hard drive will make them play faster? Everything will load nearly 10x faster. There will be nearly no pauses in the game while it seeks for data to load and spends time loading it, because the hard drive is so much faster.
And as far as piracy is concerned, there are ways for the developer to make it very difficult to pirate games, but there are always ways around this.
It appears to me that you are the one presuming, and lacking in knowing.

PS2 hard drive = pointless.
I'm sure I've seen a thing on play that lets you use your pcs hard drive for about £20

when they first released info on the HDD, they said that it would expand like 10 gigs every year or so, but the price would stay the same. so next year, it might be 50 gigs and so on. not sure if this is gonna happen tho.

Just clear some things up for me:
Why is it illegal? I can copy my pc games to my HDD under fair use, is it some insane application of the DCMA?
Patches can be applied using the memory card - a patch for SOCOM has just been released that doesn't require a HDD, so ATM I see the whole thing as fairly pointless.
