I would be in too, but I've got a thing tonight and can't attend.

But I like the idea. The damage on high would probably come into play more on a track with less runoff area. (I.e. Tokyo, Madrid, London)

I'm down. I need to learn to be patient behind other cars so high damage is good.

Yeah, maybe we'll try a road course next week if this race pans out well. We just need people to be in the lobby for the start by 10:00. I can maybe push the start to 10:15 if there are stragglers.

Damage + boost might work out to be fun. It gives drivers time to pick their passing points instead of rushing into things. Since you know you can catch back up to a leader if they pull away, you don't have to force your way through the field. But if you do force your way through, you'll be at the mercy of people you pushed out of the way when they catch back up to you.

I'll be on in a minute, meet in my private lobby. Send a friend req if you aren't on my list already.

Great race tonight.
Gotta do that again.

Definitely. Looks like timing the last pit stop is key... But it was tons of fun the entire race battling with different people and trying to stay out front.

Let's do it again next Monday. Someone want to suggest a track since I picked this one?

I need to remember this for next week. Reminds me of the Monday night endurance thread I was a part of many many months back. :( Gt5 was still fresh...those were the days!

Yep. It's really not about winning, since it basically comes down to the last lap...but it is fun to battle people the entire time. Tire wear was definitely an issue on my RX-8. I probably should have just made it a 3-pit race since I could only make it 12 laps before I started missing my apexes. Maybe less camber next time.

I've got this jump track....

Really, Spa or Fuji F or any other track we don't run very often.

Fuji GT! Or Spa!

I would agree with Fuji, Suzuka, or Spa.

Fuji and Spa are very fast tracks with mostly WOT sections. I doubt we'd see the same battling as we did at GP/F. You can totally mess up the final turn at Fuji and still have enough time to boost draft past someone before turn 1. Not much challenge there...plus the racing line isn't very well defined.

I think Suzuka would be a good choice though. It's got a better combination of slow and fast turns with slightly shorter straights.

Don't pick a track we run all the time. I will not want to spend an hour and a half on a track we run on often.

Track suggestions: Madrid / Reverse,Trial Mountain / Reverse,Autumn ring,Chamonix main?

Madrid / Reverse...I can't remember the last time I raced there. Therefore I love it as a choice.

Madrid / Reverse sounds fun. It's got a good mix of turns and you'll have to nail some tricky parts of the track to get the most out of the straights...even with boost.

Are you running CS when you do these?

We ran sport soft tires. They wore down to 60% after about 25 minutes of driving. With boost on, you could pit and catch back up within a few laps so it wasn't necessary to put any more laps on them. Pole position was 1:17 but some claimed they could run 1:05-1:10 with the boost.

All 9 cars finished on the lead lap after running 40 laps. Most were within 15-20 seconds of the lead the entire race. It came down to a 4 way battle on the last lap. I think I led the most laps but I made my final pit stop too early and didn't have enough tire left to stay out front.

Yeah, tire strategy is a consideration, but you catch back up to the pack to quickly when you're that far back that it's almost moot. However, once you're back with the pack, ability and car choice plays a huge role. I pit three times, and had no problem catching back up, but I could only get into the middle of the pack if someone made a mistake. Looking forward to next week!

I think i'll pick a different car to challenge myself. The RX-8 is always a front runner on open-450 nights. I could keep distance from WiiFreak in his SUV when we were on similar tires...but he'd always catch up on a long straight with the boost. At the end he was smart and made a late pit stop so he could stay close through the corners.

If I can catch a break, I'll run chevelle

Maybe we should all run classic muscle cars next Monday for this?

So it'll be Classic Muscle Cars on Circuito de Madrid on Monday ?

Maybe you should explain what a muscle car is for those that want to show up in a Delorean or a GNX.

If you guys want. The rule will be Pre-1980, from USA. 450pp means you'll be using a bunch of engine limiting, which will give the cars tons of torque.
