Why should it be up to us to fix PD's game ?

Fixed/non-fixed/Nat1/NAT2/through router/ bypass router/ through a router recently sprinkled with holy water... blah blah de-blah... still not having similar problems with other games.

no arguement there..

but we gotta make do with what we have. or stop racing.

You're right, but I'm going to try something instead of waiting for a patch that may never come.

I've come close to that...but the periodic improvements keep me coming back. I think I've gotten my money's worth out of the game and my DFGT wheel...so if this starts ruining the evening every night I'll bail and start messing with another game until it gets resolved.

On a side note, my MR2 was pretty quick in a straight line last night. I haven't touched the transmission since I tuned it for Nurburgring. Grip was so-so. Lots of understeer at low speeds, and unstable at high speeds. It feels totally different with the 2.02 update. I may have to break the tune down and start from scratch.

Anyone got tips/links on how to make use of the load indicator while tuning? Like, should we run circles on the runway at TGTT and try to get a specific amount of roll at a specific speed?

When Toyota realised that the Celica Twincam Turbo wasn't very competitive outside of Africa, Toyota Team Europe (TTE) started work on a new contender - a 600 horsepower Mk 1 MR2. The rally car was codenamed "222D" and was being developed for Group S and possibly Group B. A ground up tube chassis car was constructed. There were three produced, one with the engine mounted transversely with RWD, and two with the engine mounted longitudinally. One of these was RWD while the other was AWD using a custom gearbox manufactured by Xtrac. With 600+hp and AWD, the car resembled the MR2 in appearance only.-from groupbrally

Just read the tire load indicator thread. Doesn't appear to be much help. It will show when your car is bottoming out, but otherwise won't be of much use in getting your car to maximize grip.

Perhaps you could start by getting the car to bottom out, and then stiffen things up until it goes away...but that will likely take longer to figure out than just driving a few laps and making the necessary changes.

The missing link is an indicator of grip, not load. How are we to know if more weight transfer will result in more grip by using this tool?

The missing link is an indicator of grip,

You probably missed a line or two...

"The gray circles represent the tires' maximum grip, while the constantly changing white circles represent the amount of grip currently being used."

But everyone's analysis seem to indicate that adjusting suspension will not get the circles to max out on comfort tires.

Can you get your suspension to max out on el cheapo discount tires in real life, or do you need to buy expensive performance tires to do that ?

You sure can, especially with a very soft worn suspension.

But my point is, you should be able to max the circles with any tire...so the outer circle represents max grip for that tire. Maybe it just represents max grip for RS tires and anything harder wont use the entire spectrum. I dont know. I will play with it at some point and maybe compare one of my fast cars to one of my slow cars to see how they compare.

Interesting. So you had tire sounds on the Ring? We lost tire sounds on Tsukuba, or no matter which track I set it to. We voted for a track previously, mine won but I changed it something else since I was host and once we did the tire sounds were gone. I just watched 2 of the replays though and they are in playback.

I ended up leaving the room open just running the Ring and checked before I went to bed and people were still racing so I left it. I did get an email from some random scolding me for leaving it open while being AFK. :grumpy:

But overall, with upwards of 9-10 people I didn't notice any issues like I had been experiencing. My upstream I think spiked to around 160KB/sec after getting punted by someone with a few people around. I had mics off and no visible damage. Quality was very high and I think we could easily get with mics on even at standard.

I need to do a little more lemons testing but I'm up for some 450 racing after that.

Does anyone want a theme, or should we leave it open?

I don't really need a theme, just wanted to know if it would be 450 or other.

You're awfully serious about these lemons. I think you may be taking it too far. ;)

Nah, I just use it as an excuse to compare and drive different cars. It really shows how poorly implemented the pp system is. I have some cars that are 3-4 seconds slower than the fastest cars. Tuning might help a few, but others are just hopeless.

My car isn't the fastest and won't have a shot at winning race 1, but I think it has tons of potential.

Nevermind, in Chuyler's room.

Every race last night was fun. We had some very close competition. The last two races in my Fairlady were cool. I didn't have the power to pass on the straight but I had way more grip in the corners. I wish I could get more speed out of that car, it could be a top-5 450 car if I did.

Oh, and Nic's 240z was hella fast! He passed me like I was standing still. If it wasn't for drafting and my superior grip he would have checked out at Rome.

Tokyo was fun.

I have shlunky on my friends list for some reason, which is probably how he found us. I will remove him soon enough. He punted leadbedr the next race and had been doing ish like that all night.

Once I figured out that stupid hidden left-hander before the back straight, as I have to do every time I race on that track, it was fun. One of those instances where it was more prudent to let you guys pass and follow.

Think I'm going to try to get that one up to Youtube this week.

Brake early, and apex early on the left curbing. You have to hit the left side apex if you have any chance of making it out of the turn alive. By the time you realize you missed the apex, its often too late to avoid hitting the wall on exit. Once your car is lined up for the left side apex you can get on the gas. Often times I brake too early and get on the gas well before the apex...but it still results in a fast exit speed so only drivers that nail the turn will catch my draft...unless they have more power :/

That race and Grand Valley were pretty exciting start to finish. I just watched the Grand Valley replay. There were some lag spikes caused by Ernesto (i think) but once he was out of the picture there was a ton of shuffling between cars in 3rd-8th. I had an altercation with Dude on the last turn but I still enjoyed the race.

Grand Valley was a wash for me. I saw eduardo (guy you were thinking of) lagging as well as shlunky. I lagged pretty badly with eduardo in the room but once he was gone it was fine.

Suzuka was fun. That RX-8 was built for that track. My last lap was my fastest, 2:19.4 or something and if I hadn't turned in a 2:22.x the lap before I probably would have caught AOK. I think I started in either last or 9/10 for that one.

I had fun at Suzuka...but i picked the wrong car. I made some last minute tuning changes which helped, but the car still needs work....and it will never compete with the RX-8 so I was just hoping to draft some people around the track.

Joined a bit late and only managed to enter in Rome Reverse, a track i almost never raced. Was probably 1 second off the pace and had a few bumps with AOK which put me further back. Still had fun though.

Watched the Tokyo race, from my end, shlunky and k_reins were lagging a bit. I don't know if that caused the crash near the end. But Shlunky was definitely aggresive with some of his moves.

Had fun.

Could have challenged and probably beaten the NSX on Grand Valley with the 86, but something about the online model made the hairpin IMPOSSIBLE to navigate, so I had to limp around the outside without ANY throttle or brake input to make it without spinning.

The car was very fast everywhere else except that one turn, just like how some cars react in the karussell while online.

Old cars are/can be very competitive ...If you tune your suspension to an acceptable level vs modern cars...your chances are good!

It was fun last night!
