I'll be joining in a minute. I just have to go grab some dirt tires :)

Had a lot of fun tonight, in the races I did compete. Look forward too more. :)

hey guys,
i really like this thing that you have going. however i am in the wrong time zone and it means id have to stay up till 2am to play with you guys. is there any chance that if other people are interested that we could arrange something for GMT time zone.

Fun time last night. Its too bad that the generated dirt tracks don't require any skill. However it was still fun to bash fenders on that narrow track I created. I figured it would be good for a few laughs.

I can post my Camaro tune if we do this again. I don't think it is anything special except maxing the spoiler downforce. Earlier in the evening i put it at minimum thinking I'd need the power on the straights. However the car plowed like crazy. I would turn in, then the car would straighten out. If I hit the brakes, it would straighten out, if i hit the gas it would spin out. Then I put the spoiler downforce to max and removed horsepower to get back to 500pp. All of a sudden the car would turn in and drift sideways entering turns...I had perfect control of my drift angle even for slow turns.

Shaun, I suggest you start a separate thread if you want to organize a different time for low power racing. I managed to get a following simply by running it nightly at a specific time and posting the time in the thread title. The Same bat time, same bat channel seems to work better than trying to get people to commit to a small time window.

Tonight will be modern muscle car night.
Start Time: ~9:30***
I'll keep it at 500pp.
To make things clear, modern muscle is...
1980 or later
USA Origin
FR drive train
RM, RC not allowed
Sport soft tires

Since people were contesting weight reduction, tonight I don't care what weight your car is.

***My wife has a new job and she no longer goes to bed a 9:00PM. That pretty much means I can't get on until 9:30ish. I'll fire up the room as soon as I get online. No need to message me before 9:30. I think I had the room open at 9:40 last night. If i'm not signed into PSN by 9:45, I give someone else permission to start the room and post the room number here. Just remember to set the tire/pp restrictions correctly and turn off all aids.

To keep with the PP theme this week.

Wednesday night will be Nurburgring RWD shootout - the restriction will be 500pp, Sport Soft Tires, and RWD (FR & RR & MR) (any era).

Man, we may have to make this a 500pp club :/

Next week I think I'll drop back to 450 though.

For Wednesday, are you including MR?

yeah, thanks for pointing that out. MR, FR and RR.

I'll drop it next week as well. Just want to see how 500 goes, I personally like the 450-500 pp range on sport softs. Maybe do 450-475-500 for a little variety.

I was in a room the other afternoon where they started at 400 and ended at 600 running only 3 lap races. It was interesting but not my style (it was the only open room with pp and tire restrictions so my choices were limited). I like getting familiar with cars and squeezing everything out of them but when the pp changes that quickly, you have very little time to adjust. The racing is more about brute force than precision. The 400pp race at Tokyo was like bumper cars. I could run a much faster line through most of the turns but I was getting pushed around when they caught up with the draft or by using the guard rails to brake. The 600pp race at le Sarthe was simply about staying on the track. I came in 3rd because I was one of three that didn't end up in a sand trap. I ran a clean enough race to probably place 1st but my only 600pp car didn't have a transmission so i barely made use of 6th gear and fell behind on the straights.

Uhh, Bruins are playing tonight. I'm going to record it, but I might not get online until 10:00ish. If I'm not on by 9:45, as i mentioned before, someone else can fire up a room and host.

Should we just have someone set itup tonight?
I can host it.

I won't be on tonight. Getting ready for tomorrows races.

USA origin by the way the game sorts the makes or just the big 3?

Does the game put things under USA that aren't made in the US?

He means FoMoCo/Chrysler/GM. Not ALL cars from the US are from those 3. Tesla is a US brand and Lexus is also listed under USA.

Yeah i have a Lexus GS300 thats listed as USA and the Infiniti G35 is flagged US in the dealer. Also the Pontiac GTO is of course a American branded car but its a import from Australia.

I can host it.

Sure, set it up as soon as you get on and post the room num here.

Lexus and Tesla shouldnt be considered american muscle cars.

Certainly not. ;) I'm not quite keen on why the question was asked in the first place, just clarifying why he was seeking an answer.

Also, IMO the new GTO counts even though it's actually a Monaro.

its up

Couldnt play last night and probably tonight, im on a 2 day seminar in Indy. :(

Good times last night. Those late model vettes definitely had the upperhand on my Challenger. I got the understeer dialed out with some stiff rear rollbar settings, but it was too heavy to brake late into turns. I'm making some videos now. Daytona was a bit of a mess. People need to stop diving into turn 1. There is really only one line into that turn and if you brake late and dive inside, you're just gonna push the other car off the track. If you haven't committed to the pass by the start/finish line, you probably aren't going to get it done without causing carnage. There are plenty of other places to pass on the track.

Good fun.

Trying to get that Camaro around Cape Ring was like trying to walk across hot coals with stray cats tied to the bottom of your feet.

FYI, I did not install an LSD on my Challenger. The loop was no trouble for my 1800kg cow. I just lifted off the throttle a little when the car started to go wide. I have had more trouble tuning the LSD for that loop than any other turn in the game. If you had an LSD installed, remove it and see if it helps. You'll have to test in an online lobby though, because practice mode won't reveal the grip issues.

Rome Reverse race. I hung with the vette for a while but I couldn't keep up without the draft. My car was just to heavy to take the turns at the same speed, especially once my front tires started losing grip.

Road Course Daytona

I think I'm simply going to have to adjust my line entering turn 1. It may look like I'm going wide but I use the whole track to make the turn. On numerous occasions I was pushed off. One time I bumped someone (i forget who) but I made sure they made it back on the track.

There is also some confusion about turns 2 and 3, the two kinks right after turn 1. You can take these flat out only if you use the entire track. I was set up to do this numerous times and had people try to edge inside me as I made a straight line from 2 to 3. I apologize if someone didn't expect this...but the track is very narrow and you won't see many passes IRL made on this section. Race with some restraint and you can pass at any number of other places on this track. Same goes for turn 5. On lap 1, the blue vette tried to come inside, barely had a nose on me, when I took the driving line he hit me and bounced me into the yellow vette. This track can be so much fun if people would understand that sometimes you need to lift off the throttle and run single file.

I could not get my camaro to go straight last night. Especially on the ring and the banks at daytona. Seems like I know just enough about tuning a car to make it worse.

Yeah, you were having trouble at the weirdest places. Could it be your LSD causing problems? No ones should spin out on Daytona like you did (scared the crap out of me in the video above).

You'll have to test in an online lobby though, because practice mode won't reveal the grip issues.

Not only that, but the "race quality" seems to also makes a difference, so you have to test with your lobby set to the same quality as you'll be racing.

They really buggered up by using multiple physics models.

I should have showed...but I toiled in Graham's room for 3 hours
