Yeah, I do enjoy Fuji in the FGT. Never liked it with the slower street cars though. Its such a wide track you really don't know if you have the right line until its too late. At times you are just surrounded by pavement with nothing to go on. The last turn still has me baffled, it is sort of a mid-in-out line. If you are too far outside on the track you can't brake in a straight line. I still haven't quite figured out how to approach it consistently.
 
wife doesn't miss the nightly races but I do..

even went back to look at some replays i had saved from previous weeks last night.
 
For turn 16 you enter at about 2/3 of the way to the outside and gradually tighten your line until apexing just where the straight starts. It's much easier if you're left foot braking.
 
Ugg, I know...for this car I may cave and start LFB'ing. The A.I. drivers catch me off guard when they brake...and if I hit them, they slow down and get in the way.

Has anyone else had luck with Racing Hard or Racing Medium tires? I'm looking for Fuji replays on youtube but everyone runs soft tires. You don't even have to brake for turn 3 (the first left) or modulate the throttle for turn 4 (the sweeping right). What's the challenge in running WOT the whole time?
 
You're talking about the FGT right? If you watch Hamiltons pole lap from 2008 he barely lifts off for 3 (I'd say like 90%), goes through 4 flat, and gradually lifts for 5.
 
The A.I. drivers are braking for the first left (turn 3), that's for sure. I lift to about 85% for 5 and get a pretty smooth single radius arc that puts me right on the outside of the track for turn 6.

BTW, thanks for mentioning Hamilton. I just searched for that video. Very informative. I can run pretty close to the same line on R2 tires. R1 would be too slick for turn 5. I've seen videos with R3 tires and they don't brake or lift off for turn 3. Also useful from the video is his line through 13-16. He mentions not being too aggressive entering the turns, which I found to be very true as they are all blind. You have to brake before you can see the apex of 13. He completely tracks out exiting and stays somewhat inside for 14. He brakes dead center of the track for 15, tracks out on exit, then sets up for braking in the middle of the track for 16. Its very odd to have brake zones in the middle of the track, but i guess that's the fastest way around.

Haha, he actually locks up the inside front on turn 16 a bit and misses the apex. Very much like Hamilton.
 
You guys have GT Legends, Race 07, Live For Speed, etc. etc. ? I miss making shark laugh and spin.
 
Me too. Some of the A-spec events have been a nice change of pace, but I miss racing wheel to wheel. We've had some great battles the past few months and I'm ready for some more.

Lets play race07, i thought it was very similar to GT5 in physics, etc. Do you have a steam account?

I will start an 80's night room tonight around 9:30. Cant wait to get back on the track with you guys...although ive driven nothing but the FGT for the past week so dropping to these slow cars should be an eye opener.

PSN is back, uploading the updates as of now. Wanna race with you guys but ill probably save it for Monday. Its the Bulls vs. Heat, game 1 of the eastern conference finals, my buddy and i are hosting the game in my house so im out for the night. Im just glad that we're finally back in action.
Saw the Charger R/T on the online dealership will grab it and apply Chuyler's settings so im ready for the Muscle car night.

Looking forward to this week races!
 
I'm not entirely sure if I'll be on tonight. I'll be playing Motorstorm Apocalypse for a little while, but I may hop onto GT5 later on in the night if I can. I missed our nightly races and I'm looking forward to getting back to racing again! During the outage I built up a few 450pp cars which I'm itching to try out :)

dont care who...I started playing today for the first time in probably 12 days and the online diff is astounding
