Good racing last night, I had to leave a bit early and get some sleep.

My apologizes to chuyler, I got into you a couple times on Tsukuba. Damn near impossible to get around people on that track if you're slower on the straights. I'll admit that I gave you a tap on purpose exiting the final hairpin, but I didn't expect it to get you as out of shape as it did. oops. Love that track but it's frustrating as hell sometimes.

I figured that wasn't your intention when you pulled over. I was already full on the gas when you tapped me and it doesn't take much to upset the rear end of that 86 MR2. That track is tough because you basically run single file until someone makes a mistake. NUR was making little mistakes left and right but I just wasn't quick enough to get past him. His qualifying lap time was a second faster than me so he was going to win the drag race up the straight every time.

That actually reminds me of something. You mentioned being held up by me after the race. In some respects I was being held up by GT-NUR. I think all 3 of us were running in qualifying order. So technically the only reason you felt held up was because you were getting the draft from me. I was hitting all the apexes as best I could. I maybe went wide a few places trying to follow NUR into turns but for the most part I was running quick laps and keeping up with the leader.

Drivers shouldn't be fooled by the draft into thinking they are faster (and therefore have the right to be overly aggressive). The draft allows you to run the same lap times as someone else even if you don't hit the driving line perfectly. It's actually quite unnerving to be followed by someone who can take any line they want...meanwhile you have to hit everything perfectly to run the same lap time. Likewise, its tedious to follow someone who you feel you would be faster than if you could just get around them. Its just something to be aware of on the track as you are battling for position.

You and Nur were actually pulling away from me on the straights, even when I was in the draft (seems like most of my cars are slow in a straight line lol). I always caught back up through sectors 1 and 2, I just couldn't get close enough through the final turn to have a shot at making a pass into turn 1.

Btw, I would've pulled over sooner but didn't notice you'd spun until I was setting up for the last turn and wondered where the hell you went

some very fun races last night, my 300zx was not so fast, in fact it was very slow:grumpy:but being in the middle of the group was pretty enjoyable, specially on tsukuba, what a battle!

LOL yeah. I just watched the replay. You actually had a faster qualifying lap than me but I beat you to turn 1 at the start of the race. From there, it was pretty obvious that you had more grip and/or better balance for the hairpins. You could dive into them and make up tons of ground while I was struggling with understeer on entrance and oversteer on exit. GT-Nur had more power than both of us. He was all over the track but could pull on me once he planted the rear end.

i got in for one race, but had a car i really didnt want to use right away and wasnt really tuned completely. just as i got in the room someone started the race so i had to jump right in with what i got. (84 fairlady) well, i started last and didnt have a clue for the lines on deep forest reverse so i pretty much stayed there. a couple people fell back (grenade) but i spun once and couldnt catch up to anyone from there. Then a really bad storm started and i had to shut things down.

You all are getting really good out there. im out of practice.

Well i had a new Supra and a BTR prepped and ready to test and the tornado sirens went off,and the wind blew, and the power went off for 19 hrs.So they will sit in the garage and wait for the next 80's nite.

Whats tonights theme?

Definitely! When I started this, I was winning 1 out of 3 races. Now I'm lucky if I get a 2nd place finish each night. It's been a while since I out raced someone wheel to wheel. I move up when people make mistakes but that's about it.

If I am in the right car, I can be pretty quick. I usually get a top 5 qualifying lap. However some of the guys in the room are quick in any car (Nic, GT-Nur, sl3ight, AOK, Osprey). I blame my car half the time, but sometimes it's just that I can't quite squeeze that extra second out of my laps.

However, running at the back of the pack can be just as fun as the front. I enjoy tracks that promote passing and tight racing.

classic or modern muscle?

classic

I demand you add another line that says
However some of the guys in the room are quick, but get taken out mysteriously every race (grenade, grenade, grenade, shark, shark, shark).

If Jewy is in the room, that's definitely true.

LOL. Sweet comeback.

Out of curiosity, is the Art Morrison Corvette considered legal for tonight's races? The chassis is technically a 1960 model year and GT5 acknowledges it as such but I don't really consider that to be the case.

Edit: and the Trans-Cammer for that matter?

No to both. Keepin' with the real classics.

Yeah, we mentioned last week that tuner models are not allowed. Most dont fit the 1400kg restriction anyway.

Watching the Bruins right now. Someone please fire up the room and i'll join in around 10:00.

Going up

EDIT: It's up. 1472 6399 8365 2932 0163. Ignore the 450pp. It will be 500.

Thanks Grenade. I'll be on in a little bit.

I'm not a top shelf driver yet, but the last two nights I've been running with the mic off and volume down on the TV and my worst finish was 4th last night (twice) and I believe 3rd, though with only 7-8 people the night before.

Even better tonight. Besides the last spec Trans Cammer race :(, I ran 3rd, 4th, 2nd,2nd and 7th in the silly Trans Cammer

I apologize for anyone upset at my terrible hosting last night. I was too drunk to be the host. I should have known better and waited for someone else to host it.

I started 3rd at Monaco and got pit maneuvered going straight up the hill. Then every poor schmuck behind that person (no idea who it was) ran into me. It took me half a lap to work my way back to the pits with full damage on every corner of the car. At that point i figured I would just park it and equalize the field. After that, I just wasn't in the mood to race anymore. I thought it would be fun to rub a few fenders at Monaco but I didn't expect to get pushed out of the way before the first turn.

Did anyone save the replay?

Monaco was bad. I was trying to take it slow for the first couple corners. That didnt work out so well. Whoever plowed into you(chuyler) pretty much ruined the race for everyone behind you.
The ring was even worse. It was 2 laps. No need to try and pass in the first corner. I made it about 1/2 mile into the race and then I had full damage. I quit after that.

Honestly the past few nights have not been very fun.

Too many people cant seem to read the rules and regulations about a particular night.
How many times to you have to tell people no RM/RC? The rooms title states whats going on. When I have hosted a few of the races it seems like I have to tell people in every race they have the wrong car. Sunday I had some e-thug send my 10 messages about how much better he was than me because i booted him. He had a 03 for 80s night.

I know im not ever really in the race for the lead, but I personally don't like the direction this room is heading.

speak softly, carry big ban stick leadbedr. i have a zero tolerance policy when i host on wednesdays, i may remind someone to change cars once, if it is ignored they get the boot. i don't even read their msgs should they send one.

unless you're in a private room with nothing but friends (and even then $hit happens), heavy damage on tight tracks like monaco & nurburgring is asking for it, there's nothing "fun" about it.

reading from all the post, it seems that i missed a lot of action both good and bad the past few days.... hope theres a video coming up!

I guess my PS3 freezing up after the rules change at Monaco was for the best then.

I may have to move the start time to 10:00 so I can make sure to host. My wife's new schedule has cut into my race time and I won't be able to get on at 9:30 very often.

I don't mind a full damage race here and there, but I would have booted all the pubbers not on my list before starting it. Full damage with drivers that don't have mics and don't understand that we are racing clean is a recipe for disaster. From the sound of it, I left at the right time.

I can usually weed out the pubbers when I host. I know leadbedr and grenade were being polite about people being in the wrong cars giving them a chance to change but if someone cannot read the title I boot them as soon as they hit the track with the wrong car. People that don't take the time to read the room title, rarely take the time to race clean. Sometimes I just blindly boot people not on my friend list. I'd rather race with 8-10 of you guys than a full pack of questionable racers.

+1, They get 1 verbal warning. If they don't return to the lobby within 10 seconds they probably don't have chat sound on and/or don't speak english. Give them the boot. The sooner you boot them, the less likely they are to trash talk you. Don't respond to them or just say "Sorry we were running a private club race and you were in the wrong car class". Everyone from here understands the themes so you don't have to be worried about booting one of us.

I booted tons of people the last Muscle car night when we raced on the dirt. There were some altercations but it was all in good fun because I had boost turned on to allow people to catch up. I accidentally booted someone from the forum who hadn't sent me a friend request but that's the way it goes.
