The amount of downforce you had is equal to more than 10hp. I was pulling away from you on every straight even when you were drafting me. If you didn't have my draft, you would have been 3+ seconds behind after the two straights. Any racer would gladly take that extra power. It is extremely difficult, if not impossible to cleanly pass on the esses without contact if the driver in front follows the proper racing line (which I was doing until you tapped me and forced me to lift off the throttle). With 450pp racing, you can't be fast on every part of the track. Compromises have to be made between weight, power, and downforce. Your tune allows you to make up time in the esses, but it offers no ability to pass in a straight line. It gains you about 2 seconds per lap but when you are behind someone you have no way to get around except to push them out of the way.
I get that completely...but your original comment said you didn't find much difference at point "x" which lead me to conclude that my divebombing was in fact a fast line through turn 1 allowing me to gain track position. I assume the two laps you were referencing did not include a draft right? Also, you had more ballast than me and thus more hp...which could count for something as well.
Well, I had a detuned car in hopes we would have run some faster tracks. I had 288 hp. Probably only 4-7 more then you. My hp/kg was probably lower then yours.
You were definitely gaining track position. You basically slide through those turns using 100% of available grip for turning. This allowed you to gain on me as I went into turn one. Coming out of turn one, you slid to the outside still losing speed. Whereas, I braked and then accelerated.
I am comparing what I saw as your fastest turn 1 and 2 to my lap 8 turn 1 and 2. I hit 73-74 through the apex of turn 2 and you hit 71-72. I should have been quite a bit faster through my "x" point but it seems you actually out accelerated me or equaled me.
Basically, it looks as if your turn in on turn 1 is much higher then mine which causes you to go a bit wide on turn 2. Not much. Just a little. You weight is still on your right side when you begin braking which is why you continually go wide during the laps.
My turn in is substantially more subtle then yours on this turn. We both accelerate out of it. Since my car is flatter through turn 1, I don't run wide into turn 2 and hit the apex and gain more speed.
Then looking further into my "x" point (another 10-15 car lengths past apex of turn 2) you have caught up some time despite having a slower apex speed. I attribute this to your better hp/kg ratio then my car. We are talking 1-2 mph here, but sometimes that changes .1-.3 seconds.
Video from GVE-R from my bumper. Grenade and I can argue about who's line is faster all we want but I see myself gaining tons of ground on lap 3 and 4 through turns 1 and 2 without losing any ground going up the hill. You can claim its the draft if you want but its clear in other parts of those laps that the two of you could pull away from me on the straight. Of course, my high speed through turn 1 is very risky and prone to running off...as noted by lap 2. But I will continue to run it when I am not challenged from behind.
Technically I can quote the same thing on laps 8 and 9 where I caught up to you substantially through turns 1 and 2 even though you ran them cleanly

GTP_esh stayed basically the same distance from you throughout laps 8 and 9. Yet, I gained substantially on you both with no draft. Look at GTP_esh mirror going into the final straight on lap 8, then look at it after the tunnel. Also, look at where GTP_esh was compared to you after the uturn after the tunnel on laps 8 and 9. He basically stayed in the same relevant position to you, but I went from being barely in his mirror to right on his ass.
