5 most enjoyable cars to drive

At the moment for me:

* Nissan R35 GT-R Spec-V: Holy crapballs. As a car you can toss into a corner at entirely the wrong speed, tap the brakes, and then mash the throttle, it is as entertaining as anything else in the game, just to see what you can pull off. I've added the Stage III suspension and tires, and that's it. The car is insane, simply put.

* Aston Martin V8 Vantage N400: With the bodykit, and most of the Stage III mods, I'm surprised by how well the car goes despite it's performance rating not being very high at all. It goes exactly where you want it to be, and it holds its speed, which can make it very entertaining on the right track.

* Chevrolet Camaro SS: This car is hard to get into trouble, and when you do, its easy to get out. It feels big driving it, and I like it. Almost too much. Problem is, it gets frustrating occasionally. Its not the fastest or the best-handling car in the game, but I like it.

* Mitsubishi Evolution IX MR: See the GT-R rating. Its fast as hell, and fun to play with. I believe I'm only running full Stage II mods (no bodykit), and it really likes to be tossed around. I'd probably call this the most-entertaining of the cars I've driven thus far.

* Lamborghini Revention: The Batmobile shape is what I like, the sound is epic as well. The way it drives is completely wrong, but its fun. I'd have put the E36 M3 and the NC MX-5 in here, but they just don't bring as big of a smile to my face as the Lambo.

Totally agree about the Vantage, even in stock trim. I was really surprised at how precise it was. Of course if you make a mistake it will remind you in no uncertain terms that you are driving a big, fairly heavy GT. My mistakes always cost me a lot of time, but other than that it was really a nice ride! 👍

I tend to gravitate towards the more "difficult" cars to drive because they offer more of a challenge in a game that's "too easy". For me, that would be the Honda S2000, the BMW 135i, the Porsche GT2, the Corvette Z06 (but I haven't tried all the cars yet).

I actually found the corvette quite easy to drive compared to the other T3, T4 and works converted cars.

Personally I couldn't find 5 cars in this game I enjoyed driving. I liked the Corvette, the Zonda R was ok, the Veyron was fun to watch it reach 300kmh so quickly, but not actually fun to "drive" :P

Many cars feel ok once you crank up the downforce, but then they are too limited in top speed for most tracks.

It takes a lot of skill to be able race bumper to bumper - everybody has to know the braking points very precisely. I'm sure we'll reach that point eventually with Shift. That's what made FC such a great experience: a small group of very fast experienced drivers who could race at the limit for lap after lap without any undue contact.

I honestly dont think its possible to race bumper to bumper in SHIFT. I race bumper to bumper in live for speed and GTR evo online quite often, but I think SHIFT is too wild and unpredictable to race bumper to bumper, except maybe with T1 cars.

I wouldn't know - I haven't "works converted" any cars yet. I thought everyone was complaining about the "bouncing"?!

Yeah, I'm somewhat divided about online racing... it's by far the most exciting way to play any decent racing game, but I've had almost universally bad experiences everytime I've tried. Even with FC.

I enjoyed good online racing in GT5P with fellow-GTPers back in the day. It was always a little compromised by things like the Rubber Band effect, exaggerated drafting, cars ghosting & exaggerated consequences of collisions which made it a little hard to drive close & in control.

Online racing in FC was superb, in spite of the "frame-rate stutter" issue. I spent many, many hours in extremely close, bumper-to-bumper races with other experienced FC racers, where best lap times were often only a few hundredths of a second apart, & a small mistake made by yourself or an opponent would decide the outcome of the race.

The key is the ability to organize (decent length) races with friends, in cars that everyone knows well (preferably "manufacturers races"), on tracks that people know well. Letting people loose in unfamiliar cars on unfamiliar tracks does not result in good online racing.:ouch:

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to have good online racing in Shift - what is "wild & unpredictable" is mostly the AI isn't it? We should try to get something organized... :)

Well the AI is somewhat wild and unpredictable, but I'm thinking more the physics. Because most cars favour oversteer once pushed past the limit, whether it be under brakes, throttle or mid corner, and the fastest way around most corners is on the aggressive side (not entirely sliding, but borderline). Maybe its just me, but because of that I find it hard to be both fast and also hold a predictable and consistent line. Sometimes I'll cut a corner short, sometimes go a bit wide, sometimes I'll start sliding half way through then recover. It might just be me who finds this in SHIFT, but it certainly doesn't make for good bumper to bumper racing like I'd expect from games like GT5, GTR evo or Live for Speed.

I've had a few good bumper to bumper races in Shift, it is possible. Just gotta watch the brake lights and know the tracks. Laguna Seca is great for it.

i had a few good races on laguna, tokyo club(elise) but indeed in gtr evo etc you have mor control over the car wich makes it better to drive close to each other.

I picked this up for PS3 two weeks ago, and so far have been lucky enough to avoid the glitches I keep reading about. My game did an update as soon as I popped it in the player.

My current 5 favorites are :

1. Ford GT- all stageIII upgrades and tuned to RT specs (your tunings rule!!)

2. Mazda Miata- Has been my NFS staple for years, and the only one I can drift comfortably with. All stage III upgrades.

3. MC12 - Next best thing to having an Enzo.

4. Camaro SS - Stage III monster, and tons of fun in a figure 8 race.

5. Porche Cayman - Stock, just a fun little car.

I like just driving the cars stock. My favourites are:

1. McLaren F1 - just a superb car. The noise, the performance, everything is spectacular.

2. Corvette Z06 - a great drive. Handles beautifully, but will punish you if you overstep your limits.

3. Porsche Cayman - I find this to be the most pleasant to drive of the Porsches. The GT2 and GT3RS are a little too wild for my likes, I feel as though I'm fighting them around the track.

4. Merc SLR722 - Oh my god, what a noise. And it goes round corners better than you'd expect from such an enormous lump.

5. Lexus LFA - Award for the smoothest and most relaxed of the supercars. Hardly ever scary or out of control, just very very fast.

Honourable Mention: Camaro SS - Beautiful to drive, smooth and powerful. My choice for when I just want to cruise around a track in style and relax.

Conversely, the Bugatti Veyron may be one of my least favorite cars…

I painted the outside of my Veyron Dried-Blood Red to match what would undoubtedly be the interior color if little cyber-drivers could bleed.

I have yet to get that car two laps around the Ring without impacting something. The cracks in the windshield seem like a permanent feature!

I suppose it’s a measure of how accurate this game is… Exotic cars should be difficult to drive at or, near their limits. The Veyron is apparently beyond mine…
:dunce:

Try Terroniums tune for the Veyron, makes a heck of a difference to the way it drives (just don't submit it to the Nordschleife thread, not tuning allowed remember!!)

Sadly... my Veyron is using Terronium's tune.:(
I just can't seem to get the most out of it. In several sections of the track (high speed sections) it's really unstable. Unstable to the point that I have to back way off the gas or crash.
Maybe if EA ever gets the patch done it will help. :)

911 gt2, r35 GTR v spec, evo 9, s2000, f1

lol looking back that just a top 5 of my fave cars....
but i do hate the camaro and challenger.... fail engine RPM...

OK... I know I answered this once already, but having driven more of the cars now I'd like to update my previous list of favorite cars... :)

My old list...

BMW 135i
Lotus Elise
Chevy Corvette Z06 (Works converted)
Lambo Mercielago (Works converted)
Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Out of that only the Lotus Elise and the Corvette Z06 carry over.
Besides them my favorites now include...
  • Porsche Caymen S (Car Rating 10)
  • Audi R8 (either stock or upgraded)
  • Aston Martin V8 Vantage (either stock or upgraded)

The AM Vantage fully upgraded is rated a 9.00, and is in my opinion, the most underrated car in the game. It easily competes with cars rated at 10 is great to drive.👍

Depending on how the upcoming patch affects the handling of the games' cars this may not be my last post on this topic! :)

My number one has to be my fully tuned Audi R8, I drive it around the Ring for atleast 2 laps every time I play. Number 2 is the 911 GT3RS, followed by the Audi RS4 (fully tuned), number 4 is the Lotus Exige (love the supercharge whine), and my 5th favorite car is the VW Scirocco.

This may sound corny, but I like EVERY car in my garage! I love to tinker and tweak, so it's like a kid at Christmas with each new purchase. I don't think that I'll ever get to go online, as long as I continue tinkering.

My 2C, I've just bought a Dodge Challenger concept and modified it a little (tightened up the steering response, stiffer front springs, higher tyre pressures) and it is fantastic to drive on bumpier tracks like Ambush Canyon, I can drive it on the throttle everywhere. Not clinically fast perhaps, but loads of fun and remarkably competitive.

- Aston Martin Racing DBR 9

much more longer nothing...

- Subaru Impreza WRX STI Works and with the Setup of Terronium (I love you dewd)
- Toyota Supra (full Stage3 without Terronium setup, have to try it soon)
- Nissan GT-R 2000 works, despite the fact it is too slow
- E46 M3 works with some setup from a guy from here, dunno his name now (thanks)

and out of order:

- 1969 Dodge Charger, Stage3 very fun to drive.

Hardest to drive:
- Koenigsegg CCX

And all of course on Nordschleife.

5 most enjoyable cars to drive for me:

Koenigsegg CCX i m not joking but mostly because i did my own setup for this car, which suppose to work only at Nordschleife. And it did.

Aston Martin DBR 9 absolutely adorable car

Corvette not max tuned, quite close to DBR9

Maserati MC12 long time ago, before i did discovered DBR9 and learn how to enslave/conquer CCX

GTR Vspec max tuned this car on every corner is exactly where i wanted to be

GTR is no question my favorite and most consistant rig. I cant get the rear end from dragging its ass and top speed is not its thing but corners on rails. Hair raising and bang my head against the wall fun to drive is the Z06. Hauls the mail and breaks really well. I just cant drive it consistantly with that damn wheel hop and lack of hooking up the rear wheels. I beat my head against the wall with that Z06 but I cant quit driving it....lol. Wish I had a Wheel and gas pedal.

My favourites? Ok, here are them:

-BMW M3
-Bugatti Veyron
-Dodge Viper SRT10
-Dodge Challenger concept
-Nissan GTR spec-V

my favourite is Nissan Skyline, but I know these cars are better. But i completed 56 Careers with this car.
1x Underground
1x Underground2
19xCarbon
30xUndercover (ps2 only)
5x Prostreet.

I know Shift is too difficult to do it again. (in carbon i had a Corvette too, just i beat the 4 boss with skyline.)
But i will try to win the last race, and NFS World Tour.

personal favorites are:

NISSAN SKYLINE R34
As it has a lot of power and handles a treat weather your style is precise and smooth or ruff and bouncy this car stands up to it.

MITSUBISHI EVO 10
As it is in my opinion a better car to drive then the Nissan skyline r34. Handles well good power when you need it, only down floor i can find with it is that it seems more suited to tracks like the London river rather than a track like the nurburgring were as the r34 can be used for either.

ZONDA R (THE DADDY)
I love to drive this car its well balanced in power and handling but still savage to drive, lightning quick from corner to corner perfect car for a run around the ring.

MERCIELAGO LP640
This is one of my favs as it is a super car that's easy to drive fast with out it trying to kill you at every corner like the likes of the Zonda.
its well balanced and well tunable with the works covert.

FORD ESCORT COSWORTH (THE GRANDADDY)
Iconic car one of my faves in the game and in real life and i am pleased that they made it a great car to drive it the game, its just a shame they didn't get the likes of the RS500 SIERRA and the SIERRA SAPHIRE 4X4 COSWORTH.

My experience so far tells me these 5, although i dont use any setups or 'scary' stuff like that ;)

5. Lexus LF-A, havent driven it so much but seems to be fun so far.
4. Porsche Cayman S, some how like the gt2 but then slower
3. Lamborghini Reventon, getting me through the finals very easy
2. Nissan GTR, to me very easy to drive, maybe even boring.
1. Porsche 911 GT2, most driven, most fun

Worst: Bugatti Veyron, had to drive it at nurburgring and it was just bouncing everywhere, but that was before the patches and stuff.

The Veyron feels exactly like I thought it would, an Audi TT with a Saturn V rocket up its rear...

So far, I love the old Corvette from the DLC, The Supra for oversteering hilarity, the RX7, the Z06 Works and the Audi R8 LMS. The R35 Works is an absolute puppy dog too - easiest car to drive fast in the game I'd say. The fully tuned 911 GT2 has been a nice surprise too.
