In the GT4 presentation at the Nürburgring, 6 weeks before TGS, KY said that GT4 will have more than 500 cars. At the TGS he said that GT4 will have more than 650 cars. I think it will probably be about 6 weeks before GT4 gets gold.

Now my question to you is:
Do you think that GT4 will have about 800 cars? or is that 650-700 the final count?

Interesting question. This close to what PD have announced as a release date, and KY saying "650+", I would say there won't be less than 650, and not more than 700. Probably closer to 650.

Now the fact that they insist on putting in so many blasted duplicates means we'll actually only have about 250 different cars to choose from (:

But again, cars mean little to me. I want my S2000 (LM) and all the tracks they can cram on a disk.

yeah, the several hundred skylines and evo's make me unhappy, but hey... there'll be plenty of 'good' cars as always

I think the number will be close to a thousand. I think KY has deliberately kept the given figures lower, to make more of an impact when the game hits the shelves.
Also considering KY said he will continue adding cars and tracks till the release date, which could mean that's the only thing they do untill release. With the full crew working on the finishing touches of the game and the cars/tracks, I think we're in for a surprise.

And with the online mode taken out im sure more cars will be included.
Ive always thought that the final number could end up around 800.

I thint all Skylines, Evos, NSXes, Imrezas and Supras won't exeed a number of 100-150 cars, do worry, there should be about 500 spots left.

I think that "fake list" is going to be true after all. Since there is no real specifics on how many cars will be included.

-> I hope it will be at least 1,150 "realistically". :dopey:

I think that the amount of cars will be like KY said, a little bit over 650 cars... Which is just awesome... How many of them have we seen before? Most of them, probably, but we will definetely be introduced to some cars we just didn't think would make it to the game.. We are surely in for some surprises soon.. To be honest, it doesn't take too much space or work to fit in all those versions of Lancers and Skylines, so they are able to put in some extra extravaganzas for us... And to remove the online-part, also left a gaping hole in the game, they add some more cars and tracks, because now it is more than enough space for them.. :dopey:

^ Hmm, I wonder how many cars will be included in GT4, because even The359's Master Car List doesn't even crack 600 cars yet, and PD is blabbering that they will have over 650 cars, now I'm kinda confused.

If I was to bet how many cars gt4 will include, it would be like 700-800

i was happy with 500, the more the better, personally I am sick on all these new limited edition cars and formula one editions, i will quickly tire of all the new cars that look and drive similarly, I really hope they just spend all the time on the new addition of old school cars from the 20s and 30s, racing a 1925 bently is 10 times better than racing another crappy limited special edition of the suburu wrx.

my two cents.

uhh....believe me, there aren't 400 skylines and lancers...

The cancelling of the online mode could well be the reason of the delay of the release date. With that extra time the KY boys and girls can use the free disc space to fill with new (I hope classic) cars. I don't mind this idea at all.

I wouldn't call the Subaru crappy just because you don't like it much. I'd like to race in a '25 Bentley as well. :dopey: But performance in my opinion is much better..

I think PD is trying so hard trying to supress all those Skyline's, Evo's, and WRX's.

-> I wonder if PD, does it the other way around, with 500 cars of Mustang's, F-Body's (Camaro/Firebird), and F150's, and then there will be only two types of Evo's, Skyline's. and WRX's. Thats is so wrong if you ask me.

"New cars that look and drive similarly"
Not all the cars in the game "handle" similarly. Maybe it's your cup of tea, but racing old cars from those years sounds mighty unappealing and discouraging to me. Spend all the time on those ( no offense I respect what you like ) old, WAAAY outdated cars? Sorry, but I don't want that. I would say the whole thought, but then again I don't want to anger you.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is every car will be a different experience. Not always a completely different one, but different nonetheless.

And my two cents as well. :)

oy...anyway.

PD Has these different cars in the game (tuned skylines/lancers/etc) because they are desired by the Japanese Consumer.

Also, there aren't as many Tuned Mustangs etc that you might hear about on a regular basis...although I could be wrong, but I dont hear much about them.

I think they'll be a lot of cars we haven't seen before.

There is supposed to be cars from the entire history of motoring. And while it will be a list heavily biased towards the 70's, 80's and 90's, that leaves a 60-70 years to fill with cars.

I hope they keep the list secret till after the release, I can't wait to be surprised. :)

The top four Subaru Impreza models, of the current generation, are the WR1, Type 25, Type-RA and Spec C. All drive differently to one another and the difference from a standard "WRX STi" is noticeable.

I wouldn't mind driving all four (five) of them separately in GT4. The more cars the better.

In fact, the only real gripe about GT3's car clones were the same-power, same-spec ones - the R34 GT-R Vspec was identical to the R34 GT-R Mspec in terms of performance. However, the Mspec was a hidden car with four different colours. Ooooooh! And then there's the EvoVI, EvoVI TME and EvoVI TME (stripe). All three drove exactly the same as one another (although in theory the EvoVI should be the slowest), and the TME (stripe) wasn't even a different car - it was just a different paint scheme. No excuse for that at all.

I don't care if one representative of every different Skyline, Impreza and Lancer Evolution model ever made is in the game - as long as they ARE all different. Yes, I also want more variety from around the world 44 cars from Europe and America just isn't good enough. Let alone ONE from Australia (okay, so they invented the rotary washing line and football played with hands on an oval field with six goals, but they have more than one car). Nonetheless, don't sacrifice one form of variety for another.

I think the final car number will be around 750 and that there will be some surprises(hello PD, ya know the prancing Horse, the raging bull and the Stuttgart company)and also the Audi R8, BMW Z8, Firebird, MB SLR etc...

Anyway the car quantity is important but not as much as the quality :)

See ya

tha_con- you never know they could put all the saleen tuners and maybe even lingenfelter american cars there, and I agree with Dev_Zero and the 1000 mark. They have been working on the game for along time, and the way that they put the number from 500 to 750 in just 3 weeks really innenudos the fact that they have got something more to surprise us.

If you want to get anywhere near finishing the game, then you'll probably have to race some of those old cars. :)

PD found ways to get you to drive a broad cross section of cars, by using different entry qualifications for the many championships.

Of course if you don't want to finish the game, then you probably don't have to drive any cars you don't want to. You'll miss a lot of the game out if you do that though. ;) :)

I think the number will be around 650-700. I don't see why KY would say 500 then 650, then have the actual surprise be that there's waaaay more in the 800 range. If he really wanted to surprise people, he would've left the quote at 500.

all that we know is that they've said, "more than any previous GT", "over 500", and now "over 650". look at it this way, 650 is now the bare minimum... i wouldn't be surprised if the final # is over 1000 ... the new garage holds 1000 cars... sooooooo.... do the math, usually the garage is at least as big or not big enough to hold every car in the game.

As for the the 8000 skylines... seriously, look at the lists thus far, no other game comes close to the diversity and range of vehicles as GT. One of the things that made me fall in love with the series was the ability to drive my first, and second car in a game ('88 RX7 turbo, 2000 Prelude SH)... not too many people i know own Ferrari's... so ya it's a thrill to drive supercars in the digital world, but for many, and for me more so, it's awesome to see how close a digital experience can be to the real thing, especially something as sentimental as your first car.

I agree. I love how PD gives us a lot of variety if you think about it. I really enjoy the different types of races they've given us in the past. You go from normal everyday cars, to old school 70's and 80's, up to JGTC's and Le Mans cars, which i think gives the game a lot more depth. I think it's exciting driving all different types of cars. I'm a car freak, and one of my dreams would be to test drive as many cars as i want, but that probably won't happen. Now with GT4, i will have my chance to do that, and also test drive one of my favorite cars of all time, the Saleen S7.

As for the number of cars, i would also say 700-800. As long as i can hold every car in my garage, i'll be happy. Well even if i can't, i'll still be happy. :)

Had online play still been left in the game, however since it was scrapped, I'm sure they had to say SOMETHING to keep the excitement up for the game, wouldn't you agree? I'm sure peoople would be pissed if there were ONLY 500 cars..hah...ONLY...so they just say 650 and boom...now there's a benifit. I think there will be more. Also, I'm thinking 1K cars...I mean, you can store 1K in your garage right? Why would there be more spaces for cars if there weren't that many in the game? I mean GT3 had, what, 180 cars? I don't remember too well, but you could only keep 150 right? I'm thinking the same might apply to GT4, more cars than garage spaces. Also...this game HAS been in production for THREE years...I do think they have quite a few car models...I won't say anything, I just think...lol.

I'm thinking theres going to be somewhere around 700 cars, maybe a little more, 1000 cars its just crazy to think. By the time there done the game, i just hope they can put in some new american cars like the 300C, and magnum, and the 05' mustang, but I doubt that will happen. I am also sick of all the damn, imprezas', skylines, and Evo's. most of them are just pointless, some comapny just puts some stickers on the side, does the suspension, wheels and tires, body kit and slaps on a turbo and its a new edition, like who cares. It would be alot more meaningful if they put a bunch of lets say mustangs, where you can have the Shelby's, BOSS, MACH 1, SVT, COBRA etc. I agree with waht Nemo said, it would be so much fun to drive cars like a 1925 bently, some of those cars did have acceptable power, so it wouldnt be really boring, they did say that there was a Ford Model T, I dont know if you can drive it though. :s I aslo agree with phantasm it is alot of fun to drive your first car, (or in my case my parents car)even if its not that powerful. I want a 98' toyota camry with the V6 to be in the game, i love it, now that I've drivin it.

PS. no, its not ironic, theres a big difference, those mustangs i mentioned have class, something none of those tuner guys would know anything about.... and thanx lambo88 you've made my day!

yeah that's true, that whole "online thing is out now" just slipped my mind. So yeah, I'd have to agree with you on the higher than high car count. The hype did work though, I was already jazzed for 500. w00t!

I'm pretty sure there IS a 300C isn't there? someone back that up.

AdamB24, the 2005 Mustang has been confirmed by the TGS last week, just to tell you and we don't have any proof of the 300C being in up to now.

Yeah Phantasm, it's pretty hot to drive cars you owned in the past but it's equally fun to drive a Carrera GT or that kind of supercar you will never get.

see ya :sly:
