I am soooo sick of 56K modem. It takes forever to load stuff. In the evening I can hardly get on. Sorry I just had to get that off my chest.:banghead:

It sounds like the problem is with your ISP, not your modem.

Exactly. I have AOL 6.0, and pop out about 115K... :p

I download most average-length songs (3:30 minutes long) in 10 minutes, on good days.

I have a Dual ISDN connection. I usually connect at around 128kbps. I can download 180mb in 3 hours. On my 56K before, I download 120mb in 13 hours!

I have cable and you don't. Ahem.

Yeah, and you also subscribe to one of the worst ISP's out there. I have had many issues with AT+T what about you Klos?

It be Comcast now. AT&T has been pretty good. There have been a couple downtimes. None for more than a day, and total I'd say 2 days in 2 or 3 years.

I must lose my connection with ATT at least once a day out here. Get's rather frustrating. How's Comcast working out for you? What made you switch?

56k sucks, i can only get a good connection after midnight here.

i wish i could get cable but that might cause a few, ahem, prblems, ahem.

anyone know how much on average a direct phone line would cost?

I hope to get broadband next month...fingers crossed.

"56k" at home, T1 at work. Needless to say, I don't download anything over 1meg at home unless I'm doing lawn work for an hour.

Usually, I get 50-53k, only one disconnect in over 6 months.

Bah, but you download 128kb/s MP3's, probably. Me, I like .wav files. Much more clear, but people don't seem to share too many of them. Once the new storage media comes out(suppose to replace Hard drives) people will use .wav's instead of mp3's, realaudio, and windows media. Plus, the new media is suppose to have no moving parts? Just moving atoms and electrons...

When I use to have 56k(around 4 years ago, I think, maybe 3) we would connect at BEST 18000! Average was around 12000. Dang that ISP! I tried those free MSN ad-supported connections and I connected at 48000 or so. That's why I hated our ISP...
