It looks as if the Corvette problem was mechanics fault, they showed a replay at Eurosport and it seems he barely tightened that nut.
There was no nut

Please, PLEASE, don't let Nakajima drive in the rain...

Oh no mechanic forgot the nut!
Why? He scored points at wet races at Monaco and Silverstone in 2008 and beat his teammate in the wet at Monza 2008? He doesn't seem to have a problem with wet conditions.
In fact, his F1 retirement record is remarkably low. People give him far too much stick than he deserves. Sure he wasn't brilliant and was always out-paced by his teammate but he isn't as accident-prone as people are suggesting.
Give the guy a break, its his first Le Mans.
Right, I'm back. What did I miss over the last hour and a half?
ArdiusNot surprising if true as its the exact reason most manufacturers pull out eventually..and usually the reason they get involved in the first place. If you have people who like motorsport on the board, you're going to jump in eventually..and when they leave the board you're going to leave motorsport eventually.
There have been consistent rumours that some board members at Mercedes-Benz are not happy being so heavily involved in motorsport.

Isn't that enough? I mean, Porsche Cups are still pretty big. All they'd need would be some factory teams for their RSRs.Have Porsche really backed motorsports fully though? The last decade they've been pretty low-key really, selling GT cars and running the various national Cup series and international SuperCup series.
Its a big shame they never followed up on the LMP2 programme with the RS Spyders. Rumour is they are coming back for LMP1 finally though.
Well, blowing conrods all over the track is never going to be a selling point, I supposeThing is that those two are brands that depend on motorsport. It helps a lot their image. They can sell you cars saying "Oh, the GT2 version of this car just won Le Mans" and "The gearbox in this car is called F1, and we race in F1". What can Peugeot do in the other hand? "Erm...here's a 1001 HDi FAP and erm...a car loosely based on it blew it's conrods in Le Mans". That's not gonna work.
