No way. Round Le Mans, both the 88C and the 89C-V did a 3'25 lap time in qualifying without chicane. The 905 in 1992 did a 3'21 lap in qualifying with chicanes and the 908 did 3'19.7 in 2010 (3'18.5 in 2008).
(note that the track change a bit between 1992 and 2010).
To understand how the 905 was fast, just look at the time of the Mazda 787B in qualifying : 3'43.
22s slower, twenty-two.
It's not a matter of regulation, it's a matter of preference from PD.👎

Remember the track did change big time in 2002 though when they added the curves after the first chicane before it was just a straight so you can't really compare the 908's time in all fairness.

It would be interesting to know how much time people think the curves add to a laptime though for a better comparision.

I raced a 787B with the Minalota on GT4 (LeMans) several years back with a friend through a LAN and the difference was quite small although the Mazda had a bit more acceleration from what i could gather and the Minalota was a little clumsy through tight corners and required a lot of skill to put in good consistent times. Anyhow, I've not tried this match up on '5.
Post up a result if anybody bothers to try.
On the main topic: Pug would be my choice.

The 905 must have been mega quick for it's day considering it was a whopping 10 seconds quicker than the Audi R8 that's 9 years younger! I don't know if the rules changed considerably between the 905 and R8 (maybe cars just for qualylifing or special qualylifng tyres?) they probably did but still a 3.21 laptime is amazing.
The 905 was lighter (750kg vs 900kg if my memory is good), besides it had a powerfull F1 like V10 and the aerodynamic regulations weren't the same as in 2001.
In terms of pace, a Peugeot 905 evo 1 bis is on par with a 1994's F1 car, Williams-Renault or Benetton-Ford (with Schumacher at the wheel of course:sly:) round Magny-Cours and Silverstone.
The Peugeot 905 is probably the fastest Le Mans car ever.

I mentionned it in my post. ;)

PS : it doesn't impact much I think. We must notice that the track was also modified in 2007.

I love the 905, for its time it is awesome. The 908 is nice but damn 18yrs newer it should be. The 905 is lighter and makes around the same power when they r both moded. Also guys I hadn't seen much mentioned about the Sauber Mercedes, a badass car as well with the best driver of all time. Michael Schumacher drove that car.

I don't think Michael Schumacher drove the Sauber C9, in competition at least. He probably did during private testing but I think he only drove the C11 and the C291 in competition.

Your right it is the C11, I got confused and if I'm not mistaken what threw me off is I believe his name is on the C9 in GT4,

You are correct. Schumacher never ran the C9 so it can't have its name on the car (or shouldn't).
I think the C9 in GT5 has Jochen Mass, Manuel Rutter, and Stanley Dickens as the 3 names on the car.

True that Toyota is a bit over powered in the game compared to other LMP cars but it doesn't have an interior so i probly wont use it...

Toyota 88C from wikipedia.

Le Mans

The first two 88Cs made their debut at the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans, entered by Tom's Team Toyota. Both cars completed the event with the car of drivers Geoff Lees, Masanori Sekiya, and Kaoru Hoshino finishing in 12th, while the second car was 24th. Toyota returned to Le Mans in 1989 with one 88C[2] joining two newer 89C-Vs. None of the three cars finished the race.

Seems the car is overpowered yes if it is the best of the Group C and LMP cars.

I'd like to buy the 89' Sauber C9, as it is strikingly good looking. I had a poster of that car as a kid. Howerver, why spend 5.7 mill credits on a used car if it is inferior to the Minolta freebie?

Got two questions about the R10 (and 908).
- Are there any real benefit in buying one of these compared to to the Group C cars, which for obvious reasons and regulations have more power? Thinking 24h races and so on.. Will you be able to beat a Group C car with one of these?

The handling of the car should be reason enough, as this grants higher avg. speed, but if PD has made the old Group C cars just as good as the current LMPs, its rather stupid.

- How much HP does the R10 get with fully upgraded engine? (Don't think this has been mentioned in the thread).

My R10 stealth model has about 900+hp. My 908 is around 922bhp so yeah. :)

Can anybody tell me if the numbers on the side of the Audi and Peugeot light up at night like they do in real life. In the weather trailer for GT5 they did, but there is a recent YouTube video of the 908 on Le Mans at night, and the number is not lit. Thank you!

Don't think it lights up the numbers.

Don't think the R10 had lit up number displays. The R15 and 908 certainly does though..

This is what it looks like in real life:

Kaz/P.D needs to re-update the Peugeot 908 again. Look at this, gold trim at the front bumper, black part livery widens a lot. I'm still fine the way it is actually. :)
