What shall we do about tyre wear?

M3 has the same problem! The trouble is if you increase it's power then they will run away with it because of better handling!

I think overall the cars are quite well matched, the problem lies with drafting its too unrealistic in GT5.

Stage 2??:lol::lol::D:p

Stage 2??:lol::lol::D:p

:)
It reminds me of the esprit in v8 challenge! Disappears on the straights but soon as you come to a corner there's a massive queue behind it!

Yeah was never in doubt though was it?? Catching it i mean:sly::)

I find this alfa thing very baffling. In all the practice races i took part in the alfa, and i won a lot of them and came no lower than 3rd i dont think. And i was fighting through the pack no problem

Good to see some discussion going on 👍

From the official point of view looking at the results I am quite happy after hearing from people that the cars are fairly well matched. Both the tracks today favoured RWD cars slightly and there are some AWD ones to come. I couldnt overtake the BMW or Merc on the straights but could outbrake them a little and power out to give myself a chance.
Its early days for tuning (makes a huge difference) and practice so we wont panic yet about the cars.
Check your results in the OP and let me know if there are any mistakes. Well done everyone and rest assured I will be re testing the Alfa and the BMW with a few trusted GT5 buddies this week to investigate your concerns.
Great racing today and I think we may have a good group of drivers here 👍

Zenzow- Make sure you clear your cache and have a wired connection bud.

Yes indeed :D I may have challenged for the win at GVS but got knocked a few times

Well dont get too comfortable in the Beemer bro, when you get another car you need to join us on the promotion trail :D

I got to keep reminding everyone, if you want to get promoted you have to own all three eligible cars by the end of the season or as many as you can!!!!!
Top 3 drivers go up bottom 3 go down BMW cant be promoted but when they get a 90's TC their points earned carry over.

Also, if certain cars are running away with things they may be re tested and re specced (slightly) as the championship goes on!

Good work Bret emotions run high after race night do they not:dopey: Enjoyed the evening overall thought i was going to be right out of my depth so felt things went better than expected:) Feel for that Freespot fella 0 points on opening night keep pushing pal!!:p

Great races last night guys.

Fuji. I was at consistant 1 38's qualyfied 4th. Fought through the pack & came 4th. 0.5 behind sandman, no lag at all.

GV. Qualyfied 6th i believe. wasn't as fast but still a close race for me & Sakary but i couldn't catch so 5th it was.

After wordup left & rejoined due to connection problems, all was fine, no lag at all. You need to make sure you reset router & cache guys.

Andy before you disconnected at Fuji you were on pole so the Alfa is cleary competitive.

Anyway I really enjoyed last night, very close & intence, looking forward to next Wednesday, hopefully a top 3.

Johnboy- Yeah freespot is a real noob :D

Etid- You had a couple of decent results, I know you are fast but there are some reallly quick lads your up against. Good call on the routers and I hope everyone has a wired connection! How big was spurgeys winning margin?

I also enjoyed the racing last night.

Fuji, spun out on first lap and a further 2 errors later in made it worse!

GV, had a better race. Got bumped roughed up, Thought I was driving in a BTCC race! Strange pit crew on GV came in ahead of Ellis went out behind him!

Merc is a handful, don't know if really suits my driving style! I can't push the car when on the limit. Hopefully the rest of Merc Team can assist in the tunning department! We need to go for it in both drivers and contructors championships!

Hope to do better in the next races, might have to hold back on playing BF3 to get a bit of practice in. Would suggest to the my fellow Merc drivers we have a tunning practice session, I know some don't use wheels but hopefully some general assistance can help raise our level!

What speed did you enter the pits at Mike? Might explain why you were held in the pits a little longer.💡

Off topic GT5's DIRTY LITTLE SECRET is pretty damming reading anyone read about this?

Yeah, Im beginning to wonder if this is why I am always at the back of the pack :odd:

On the bright side its something to blame for lack of performance:sly: How did you go Knelly??👍

Mike T speaks! I am utterly amazed
Glad you enjoyed it mike, just wait until things start to hot up points wise. A tap of the bakes just as you enter the pits is always advised as some tracks give out penalties and hold you there if your going too quick.

John- I have read it and made a few posts, thats what happened in our last FGTC race, I had to red flag it in the end 👎

Yeah I read it a few days ago lol though on GVS I went quicker in race .........but sooo far off the pace. A lot of experienced drivers out there. Braking quite a bit later than can. I think it's something to do with the brake mod on the T500, its very tough and what feels like it should be fully depressed is only about 80%. I noticed a big difference in actual handling as well when I changed from the DFGT. Used to be really good at the drifting and I'm having to relearn that. Some good battles last night, even if I hadn't spun so badly on the first corner of GVS I still of came last.......Tire wear is a killer for me. All about gaining experience, I never race online.

Pagey - I dont get whats wrong with the Alfa either, the tracks I tested at it was over a second a lap faster than my Merc, but I think it was good racing either way, and well done to everyone in team Merc, great racing guys :) congrats on your first and second as well Pagey. Oh and I think the quali times were, 1.38.113 for Andy (1st), and a 1.38.8XX for me (2nd) and although it wasnt my best lap, I still am around 0.5 off so I dont see that the Alfas slow. Plus I had a little extra straight line speed because I changed my gearing :)

Post race chat emotions always run high time to move on, just wish personally i hadnt practiced with the S3 turbo wouldnt feel im missing something then hey ho what a dunda head!:dunce:

Just to add spurgy its not sour grapes from my point of view your fast period was simply a smidge soul destroying ragging the hell out of the Alfa through the turns around Fuji and gaining all be it slightly only to watch you vanish over the horizon down the straight but i aint bitter........... much.;)

The Mercs are crazy fast on the straights but I guess thats their angle in the series, I am hoping that Laguna Seca, Madrid, Rome, Monaco, Eiger, and Tskuba are going to let the AWD cars show what they can do.

Testing the Alfa at Fuji and GVS, ill update with the times :) my Alfa is tuned including gearing.
Fuji: 1.37.606 Top speed on straight 164
Merc - 1.38.463 Top speed 165
GVS: 1.53.909 Top speed on straight 160
Merc - 1.54.333 Top speed 161

Hmmm well i will measure against your Fuji time yep 164mph before braking im the same:tup: My laps times i stress are with zero run off use (the time difference is dramatic imo)
Alfa standard turbo 139.1 with stage 3 138.6.:indiff:

Hmm, I ran a 1.40 to qualify and ran 1.39's to come 3rd in my race. Good data though chaps.
Spurgey- try it with stage 2 turbo if you can 👍
