i really enjoyed both races but problems (first my own, then someone else) caused me to finish further down the field than I could.
Autumn ring start was immense, i was right up the inside into the first bend and gained 2 or 3 places by turns 2 and 3, but was initially struggling with the tyres to warm but by the end of the lap i was up to speed and they were at a decent temperature.
my strategy was to hold back slightly until someone messed up, which they did and i gained an extra place.
from here, i wanted to distance myself from the two cars chasing me for the past couple of laps, so i put some welly into it and gained a few seconds.
This lead to the complete and under shredding of my front tyres, producing some hellish understeer and meaning that the mercedes followed me into the pit, where we both managed to skip a place over someone and get out cleanly.
I was initially fine with the cold tyres, obviously they allow for a bit more understeer and sometimes oversteer but my setup accounted for any oversteer that may occur to ensure my car was as stable as possible.
going round the 2nd gear turn 8, i put my hoof down and the car flew out of the exit, into 3rd, with a short burst into 4th before braking for turn 9 where i glanced in my mirror at the mercedes behind me, wondering if he had overshot the turn or not.
Doing this meant i went wide on the exit, past the kerb as i usually took and with the right rear on the grass the car rapidly spun 180 degrees with me looking at sparky in the merc ( i think it was you) driving past in the correct direction. absolutely gutted!
from here for me it was a straight drive to the finish, trying to conserve tyres. and the end lap i chilled but someone got within 6 seconds of me.
Eiger, well, that start was expected LOL. hellish launch but the merc in front was hit and came into me, with another guy spinning I believe, and this was all before turn 1.
Following mid way through the pack in corners 2, 3 and 4 I soon came to realise there was not enough room for 2 cars side by side to merrily go along, so i tried backing off but was hit from the side and started sliding.
In my haste to keep position I managed to quickly steer and punch it....... and this kept my position well until the 3rd lap where I spun at turn 4! absolutely gutted as I NEVER Spun during practice and I can whole heartedly say that the physics online are different that offline.
Although I got passed by a few I carried on, only to spin again on the hill up to the penultimate corner, so by this point I was ready for giving up and just relaxing, but i thought I cant be a spoilsport (even if i was 10th or 11th).
I got back on it, made my lines consistent, realised where the car was prone to snapping and prepared to counter, to produce some good lap times between 1.03.7 and 1.04.5 consistently, quickly catching those in front whilst not being a detriment to the tyres as expected.
Instead of pitting around the time that it seemed most people did, i carried on for 2 more laps until lap 11-ish then pitted, where i gained 3 places just from the pitstop! although when i came out i was being followed by 2 cars close on my tail.
having learned from the first race, i made my outlap one that was swift but controlled, being leanient on corner entry and exit before the tyres were warm. this paid off immensely as when they were warm, i was able to punch it and throttle away, where I caught an alfa (and passed if i remember) to keep the finishing position.
hope you all had a good race and next time i want to make more of an effort to keep in the top half lol
