90's DTM- FINISHED

What shall we do about tyre wear?

Alfa seems strong at TM and about the same as the calibra at SSR5.
Been testing possible increase in power and free turbo selection. Also a minimum weight of 1010kg. Seems positive so far but dont panic, the settings will not change until after wednesdays race (if at all). Some tests still to be done.

Whooo me like please please please!!:sly: I strongly vote Turbo for a little extra performance extra power not so keen just my 5 eggs worth however.

I was bored with nothing much to do so I did some tests with all 3 cars, 1 flying lap each with the same setup at 430bhp/1010kg :D
Fuji: Alfa-1.37.9 Merc-1.38.1 Cally-1.38.2
GVS: Alfa-1.52.794 Merc-1.54.489 Cally-1.54.261
SSR5: Alfa-1.22.552 Merc-1.23.280 Cally-1.22.684
So, basically they were all slower, especially the merc and apart from Fuji the times were miles apart. Better news, I worked out that I was plugging my charger cable in the wrong place on my headset which was why it wouldnt charge, so now it should be fine :D

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the times could be like they are because they all have the same setup, the one I use for SSR5 where it seems to work for all of them, but may effect each car differently at the other two circuits. Starting to seem like a useless test, but its something anyway :D
 
Its only going to be an extra 26 hp if it happens, 1010kg to reel in the merc by .4 seconds a lap. Free turbo choice should bring the Alfa up by a half a second a lap and the Calibra basically should stay in a similar place in comparison.
Thats my thinking but I need to see how things go at SSR5 and TM first.

Spurgey- Hmm your results are odd indeed, when we tried a test race you beat me at SSR5 but not as easily as you did at the current rate. I beat you at TM when you were in the Alfa but not as easily as I got past Andy!
Also, how could the Alfa be slower, adding 26 bhp and no weight cant make a car slower.

I agree with johnboy, I dont think we need more power. Maybe for next season. Having a turbo on Alfa's I agree 👍 But thats my opinion

Also Spurgy I think your results are wrong. How can you be slower than before with more power and no weight? Doesnt make sense, me and johnboy where faster with a turbo and same power, so how your slower God knows.....
 
Well, I would have a been a tenth or two down because I just went straight out and did a lap, and my gearing was 10mph higher than normal (180mph), which makes it accelerate slower, so the power didnt really change the straight line speed, was like 2mph faster at SSR5 if that. If I have time, Ill test the current regs with the same gearing, but I think we just need more test races tbh.
And why does the Merc need to be made .4 slower, and the Alfa .5 faster?

Only one way to settle it Spurgys lounge watch him fly save replay check for turbos check if clean laps then bow down to the great one if all legit.:bowdown:

And if you really think the Alfas slow just ask Pagey, he went straight out at SSR5 with default settings and did a 1.22.8. And just changed my gearing back to 170 on the Alfa and did a 1.22.039 first lap out so that was probably why I was slower Bret :)

Why do you keep testing the Alfa a lot? And then post times about how quick you are? I dont understand. Alfa team are struggling with getting settings and speed, and we're been working hard to fix these problems. Then you come in, say how fast you are, and then dont tell us the setup. Makes are work seems pointless and stupid. Just because you can jump into the Alfa and be quick, it isnt the same for all of us. We havent got a setup like yours, or maybe we dont suit the car as well as you but theres no one to be boasting about it

How would you like it if we started testing the Merc, then posted the times which are about 1 second quicker than yours and then never tell you the setup and keep on talking about it?

I dont really mind, i know Spurgy is insanely quick, and as he said he was bored. Im not really that bothered, if anything it gives me more incentive to go faster and try and match his lap times. Use it to spur you on, and go the extra mile to be faster, its what i do.

Sure as hell not saying your cheating bro just be nice to see you behind the wheel of the Alfa doing your stuff thats all win lose each week not something i lose any sleep over chap dont get the wrong idea.👍
 
I wouldnt care, if anything that would be good, theres no point having different times from different people in different cars, you do sort of need people testing both cars to see the difference in the cars, so the more people testing both the better, especially seen as we're still trying to balance them and if I dont update both times, then it will just look like the Merc is a lot faster, I think I was doing 1.23s or 1.24s at first, so if I just said that it would look like at least a 1 second gap between them.
And the reason I dont give you my setup is because last race you were close enoughas it is, and faster than me even, I was just lucky that Pipi was caught out by the haripin. But if youre really that bothered about it Ill stop testing and you can do it yourself...

EDIT: Sorry John, took in what you said wrong, plus im tired and grumpy :D

No harm done just check your 190 when you get it out of the garage for next weeks race you wont be so quick with 4 flat tyres and a leaking brake line cable.;)

By slowing the Merc by .3/.4, keeping cally times the same and speeding the Alfa up by .5 we ended up with closer matched cars. You still won at SSR5 (as expected) and I won at TM (again, as expected). I thought the test showed that the cars were brought even closer together than before.

Thats all we all want at the end of the day though right:tup: Heck if adding something turns out to be a bad move it can always be removed but if ya dont try guess you will always be wondering what if.💡
 
My anger was mostly vented at Andy for his dislike of my tests, but I shall now just forget about it (like I do with most things, I have a terrible memory :D) and get on with racing :) Well, not now of course because im going to bed, but I might carry on racing in the morning, or the afternoon depending on how long I was to stay in bed for :D

We have a new calendar in the OP, see if you can spot any mistakes and let me know. I have made the Nurburg 24 hour races longer than usual and if anyone feels this is an unfair change then please let me know. Its a bit like a finale to the season 👍

Oh and if anyone can guess the inspiration for the Title/Season colour scheme in the calendar you will win a fantastic prize of a museum card!!! :D (clue- its a sporting event)

Look at the colours of the Division 1,2,3,4,5,6 titles and the main title of the calender. What sporting event comes to mind. Its one of the top 10 sports played in the world.

Did some testing on ssr5 in the alpha. Have more time but got a 1:26
