What shall we do about tyre wear?

We have tested at 470bhp and 1010kg last week over 5 laps. I am using these results, although tyre wear was on and the mercs (as a team) did better than the other cars they were very close. Alfa, merc, merc, vaux, merc, alfa vaux vaux. Without tyre wear the vauxhalls should come on a bit and all the cars will get a slight boost with the extra power.

We tested at
Monaco 7 laps- Alfa/Vaux/Merc
Monza 7 laps- Alfa/Merc/Merc (I think)
Nurburgring 2 laps -Alfa/Merc/Vaux

Pagey won all three with Spurgey/Joe and me taking the other podiums. Thats from memory so if anyone knows any different please let me know.

I have suggested bringing the bhp down by 20 and running without tyre wear until the bug is fixed, what do you think?

I didn't get any podiums. :)

I think Pipi might have come second at Monza, I do remember him being infront at one point and he was close to Pagey. And Bret you would have come 2rd/3nd if you hadnt left :) The gaps were quite big too.

Edit: I remember now! because of my accidental taking out of both Bret and Pagey as well as myself whilst going out of the first chicane :D Pipi managed to get infront whilst I waited to give the places back.

Real shame about the tyre wear being turned off, being particularly proud of my tyre conservation im disappointed just a personal thing:grumpy: Sure im on my own on this one pretty much.:guilty:

Cheers fellas, I thought I had Monza wrong.
We dont have to turn tyre wear off I was just suggesting it as a temporary thing to help with the fact that the system is struggling with the info. We can run with it on of you guys are prepared to take the consequences.
Just let me know what you think is best 👍

John- I can look after tyres pretty well too and have won a few races because of it :)

Sorry can I ask whats the new rules? I am  to say the least

480BHP,1010KG, and tyre wear off? Starting next Wednesday?

I have to mention that I think tyre wear ahould go off until the bug is fixed, this would mean that all cars would be subjected to 480bhp and the usual 1010kg until tyre wear can be turned on again.
I wont do this without a majority of people agreeing but it helps in a big way with the bug apparently and it would only be a temporary measure. Let me know your thoughts please.

👍
And yes we are starting next wednesday

Andy- If there was no bug or if it was fixed before next wed then the settings are exactly the same as the OP. 500bhp and 1020kg
If the bug is not fixed we can turn tyre wear off to minimise the info needing to be sent. This however will negate the tyre wear advantage of the RWD cars so in this scenario we would run 480bhp and 1010kg.
👍

OP is updated with bonus points for the high flyers in season 1, if you dont like this then take your anger out on a wall or something because I cant please everyone :D
Calendar etc. has been updated.

Ok, will I did testing yesterday and had tyre wear off and was on my own (online) and the clock was wrong, was going too quick. Not saying we shouldnt race but the bug is growing?

Correct black screens Dc's every 5 minutes game situation is a joke we cant hide from the fact unfortunately!:yuck:

You too? I have only been in rooms with 10 or less in the last week so havent seen any problems. Not looking good, we will try again this coming wed and see what happens.

Yup mate, just me and my V8 co host in my lounge we gave up in the end.:yuck:

Good/bad news for division 1 drivers. Good news is there is only 10 drivers now so that should help with the bug. Bad news is Carson has a new job so now cant make the races on a wednesday. I will not accept new applications until the bug is sorted (if at all).
All drivers are to clear the cache under options in the GT5 main page and to make sure that system clocks are set via the internet on the PS3.

John- Could your problems be exasperated by connection/room settings?

Wordup- On a temporary basis we need to turn off tyre wear and put the hp at 480 (or nearest). Make visual damage is off too to help with the info reduction.

Doubt it mate connection is strong system portfortwarded etc etc never had major issues in the past the odd DC with heavy filled grids but nothing out or the ordinary lounge settings are sensible even swithced all the bits off damage tyre wear etc hell even custom music!!:irked:👎👎

Frustrating that we cant figure out whats up, it must be the amount of traffic being sent so I guess its just a case of reducing that and giving it a shot.
I even considered racing in free run mode :(

Looks like random people still feel the need to vote on the poll

Im a bit confused about it really, after the update ive been in a few rooms with 16 people and most with around 10 and experience no problems what so ever. And that was the day of the DLC so there would have been a lot of users online.
As opposed to before the update where there was serious lag with 5 people.

Andy mentioned the bug and that the clock was going too fast but was this the in game clock, the lap timer? How were your laps comparing to normal? Was there frame rate loss that usually accompanies the bug?

What we need is assurances from the big boys Kaz PD someone, ive read conflicting stories for 2 weeks solid and its getting pretty dull now:yuck:
The big boys must be aware of an issue by now?? So why not give us something positive to cling onto? Bug free races or not its still gonna be at the back of ya mind for the foreseeable future atleast. I sure as hell havent had the same buzz from doing well in an online race lately. Did he have grip loss bug? did he have slowdown bug? did i have speed up bug? blah blah blah poop!!:yuck:

Rant over.

JB.

it was online, just me. It was the lap counting bit. I was going faster by 2 seconds a lap, at Fuji. Im not sure if i had a speed boast but i had the bug for the clock

also i put type wear off and visually damage off too

But it might be my room

Johnboy- sorry dude, didn't mean to cause a fuss. We have received no news about a bug fix, yet for some it seems to have cleared up and for others not, so questions need to be asked to determine whether its still a serious problem that will stop us racing.

Andy- Tyre wear might be the reason for your speed, with it off there is increased grip through the corners. I found this in the FGTC when testing, i could go around 2 seconds quicker at the shorter tracks, as the car was more stable and planted. I went 8 seconds faster at Nurburgring 24hr

On top of Pageys point about tyre wear giving more grip when off than on fresh tyres when its on I will add that unless grip is set to low you are much faster in free run too.
Every time we have had clock/frame rate/slow down issues it has been very obvious. Its like driving while on hard drugs (I imagine )

Yes Andy, no tyre wear does make you faster :D I thought it was because it counted you as having no fuel - less weight, and brand new tyres on, but im not sure exactly, could just be as Pagey said that it gives you more grip. Plus I doubt that being on your own, with tyre wear off, in free run and in a relatively slow car will ever make you have the "bug" :) Especially not to the extent of being two seconds a lap faster. I mean we didnt get that when there were 11 people in a room, with tyre wear on and in a race.

I compared offline with online, tyre off both times, everything the same.

The car isnt't going 2 seconds a lap faster, the clock is running faster. That's all Im saying. Im not saying my pace is quicker in free fun, Im saying the clock is wrong is free run. Im not saying my car has increased grip or power, just the clock is wrong. Nothing about car just simple saying that the bug has effected the clock in free run.
