NEXT RACE February 13TH 2011 - S.S.R.7​

REGISTRATIONS WILL STAY OPEN THROUGHOUT THE SEASON AND WE WILL ACCEPT MORE THEN 16 RACERS IN CASE WE DO NOT HAVE A FULL FIELD ON RACE DAY. FIRST RACE WE HAD 8/14 RACERS SO THERE IS LOTS OF ROOM. EVERYONE IS WELCOME

There is a thread on here about average adult racers https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=145782 so iv decided to create a league for all the average racers on gt5. This will be a laid back championship for casual racers to enjoy without getting their a** handed to them by elite drivers. All the info will be in this first post so just keep checking back I will keep updating this post.

EVENT INFO​

Start Date: JANUARY 9TH 2011
Day: Sunday
Time: 6:00 PM Est (GMT -5)

Lobby set up between 5:50-6:00 PM Est. (I will PM everyone on PSN they lobby number)
In the event that I am unable to make it ricky7789 will be hosting the session so please make sure everyone has ricky7789 on their friends list. If I am not online by 6:00pm he will make the lobby and send out a PM to everyone with the room number
Qualifying Session 6:00 PM Est.
Race Star 6:15 PM Est.
Races: 6
End of Season: 1 weeks with a pre-season practice race before the new season starts

Laps: Each track will have different number of laps which will equal out to about a 30 min race
Cape Ring: 11 Laps
Monza: 16 Laps
Daytona: 35 Laps
Cote d'azur 19 Laps

Nurburgring:

Constructors Championship: The number 1 driver will set a team name. The points accumulated from both drives will go to their Team and towards the Constructors Championship.

At the end of the season the number 1 driver of the team(determined by driver standings) will gain the privilege to choose their team mate for the following season and team name if they wish to make a change.
Number 1 drivers can only choose a number 2 driver from another team to join them. When they decide to make the change their number 2 driver will be swapped to the team that the new driver came from.
Picks will be awarded by drivers standings.(Example: Driver 1 in first place gets first pick. The next team number 1 driver in the standings will get the 2nd pick)
Once a driver has been picked to join a team he can not be re picked by another team.

1st place 10 points
2nd place 8 points
3rd place 6 points
4th place 5 points
5th place 4 points
6th place 3 points
7th place 2 points
8th place 1 points

RULES & RESTRICTIONS​

Standard GTP OLR Rules will apply except for the "GTP_" PSN requirement. That will not be necessary to join this series.

Power: 502hp
Weight: 1000Kg
Tires: Unrestricted
NO RM's or Race Cars
You can use a different car each race has long as you are within the power and weight restrictions

No passing on the first corner of the first lap. I will watch the replay of every race starts if you pass or cause an accident you will get a penalty of -5 points.

Penalties: Light
Mechanical Damage: Light

I'm not sure if the time will work for scheduling will work for me, but if it does, I totally want to participate. I guess this means a tentative yes.

Just a suggestion... you might want to drop the HP and raise the KGS. An 800 / 1000 combo is going to be one hell of a car and not that easy to control for an "average" driver. Heck I'm having trouble with the current Season Challenge with GT-R on SSR5 and that car has 490HP @ 1100KGS. Sure with the soft tires it has tons of grip, but your flying around at crazy speeds. As the saying goes: its more entertaining to drive a slow car fast then a fast car slow.
 
That sounds like a good idea...How about we go 500hp for the first season and see how it goes then increase or decrease for the following season

I have a noob question though, for the constructor's championship, do teammates need to use cars from the same manufacturer? Most of what I know about racing comes from GT, so I don't really know how this works in the real world.

In the real world yes....But for this series No everyone uses whatever car they want...Its just something I thought might be fun and would be worth a shot to try it out and see how it goes. The constructors championship will only go ahead if we have 6,8,10..etc # of racers registered

I think I will be going with my RGT. I like it, and I have yet to see how it actually stacks up.
 
are road cars with race mods allowed? I would prefer road cars with out racing mods (the racing mods that only 17 cars can get), and to make it alittle more interesting why not have teams be color cordinated? Just my 2 cents! Shotgun Chrome Orange!!! (if we use colors)

No RM's means the 17 race modified cars are not allowed. And wit the 500hp limit i dont think there is any racing cars that fit into that category

Awesome!!! lol umm about that 500hp limit...can we push it to 505? 4-5 cars I have my eye on are around 502-503. If not it's cool...happy boxing day everyone!
 
There are a few race cars (not race modified cars) that do qualify for this event in 500Hp/1000kg bracket, they are not the fastest but are a lot of fun to drive. Just letting you know in advance.:)

Yeah, there are several more. I am not at my PS3, and I don't own all of them, so no pics, but there is the white BMW 320i Touring Car, all the GT300 cars, and a few of the GT500 cars. I would be sure to outlaw racecars, as they will utterly destroy most roadcars in the corners.
 
OK, so here is my question:

Are we racing! Or are we trying to drive our everyday cars faster than normal and calling that racing?
Both are fine with me, just want to get some clarification on the specs here.

We can divide this into:
A- Stock cars (no upgrades allowed, find the closest to the specs)
B- Upgraded cars (to meet specs as close as possible 500HP/1000kg)
C- Race modified cars (closest to specs 500HP/1000k)
D- Race cars (closest to specs 500HP/1000k)

Let me know so I can find the car for the event. Thanks.:cheers:
 
Ok didn't realize there were race cars in that spec. I changed the rules on page one...No RM's and No Race cars.....So all road cars, stock and tuned are allowed. NO RACE CARS. To answer kprawny1 question. Yes we are racing. We may not be the fastest racers on GT5 but were racing

I'm in because I love the technical aspects of driving, tracks and tuning. I am not a very fast driver at all so I'll probably be in the back just having fun. :)
 
I know this is a little bit last min. but I will be holding a practice session tonight for those who can make it. 6PM Est. It will run just like the race format. 15 min of practice and at 6:15pm est the race begins.
