why do people think its m235? The front is almost identical to the m4 dtm. And that what theyre currently promoting.

The headlights and grille, roofline and the taillights are all the same as those of the BMW 2 series.

Nope.

Yes, it's what they're promoting in Forza, they got the M4 DTM race car. This is clearly a 2 series

Also, the BMW forums are already talking about how close to the recently announced M2 this will be.

Even from the sketch it's obvious it was a 2 series...

I just looked at the engine specs. yep youre right:P

Just ran it in the 24 minutes race at the "Green Hell" and I loved it and after getting a tune from here it's now a 620pp fighter. ;)

The obvious complaint is the sound but in this case it actually makes sense in my mind because, it goes with what that motor can do and what it can do is pull like a freight train at low revs.

I'm not disappointed at all. I think it looks great especially in black. I can understand some folks disappointment that it doesn't like the earlier they came up with but I like it.

I like it.

Nice video intro, Edu-ma-cational styling details explained. (Kidneys? Ah those funny Germans!)
Bit of Kazunori-san and some nice quotable bits. (It was good in Japanese anyhow. - It's not the great cars, it's the great people that make the great cars. (May get a free Beemer out of that plug!))

Nice car- seasonal was fun, SRF forced off... felt good with the other driver aids off, not perfectly balanced or uber-grippy. So over driving resulted in slides and over rotation and other good stuff. And it got upset over the curbs - excellent!

Only two colours - Racing Colours and "Cleaner" Black Sapphire - (You may be able to paint them... who knows.)

Love the look of this new VGT, and tonight have had a ball driving it. Great fun.

Very happy with it. Looks very cool to me. I prefer it's 'realness' to the 'conceptness' of the Mercedes VGT. Though I do like that too.

All of the Vision GT cars are pretty pointless; but there's very much a sliding scale to that. I'm much more impressed with the tangible and relevant one BMW put out which really does fit in the context of the game and seems entirely like a real world car that could be announced for serial production tomorrow than the design student's orgasm that Mercedes' was (and I suspect most Vision GT cars in the future will be, assuming PD continue to stick to it).

Ironically, Mercedes-Benz has said it is likely to make a limited production of the VGT based on the SLS AMG Black Series. If it does happen I can see it being based on the upcoming AMG GT though.

Mercedes didn't say that (they in fact said the opposite). A coachbuilder in Florida did 5 months ago with no news since, and it's very likely Mercedes won't let them if they ever actually tried.

And after two years of Citroen stringing everyone along about how they were totally going to build what was essentially the original Vision GT car (taking it on public tours, making glowing press releases about caving to popular demand to produce it in limited numbers) before very quietly canceling it even after completely changing everything about it under the skin, I'd be very surprised if anything came of the (unofficial, probably illegal) under the table attempt to build the Vision Mercedes on top of an existing Mercedes anyway.

I'd be prepared to bet that within 12 months a tuner has made a bodykit for the M235 which mimics (within copyright laws :D ) the BMW VGT. In fact, it may even partially come from BMW themselves (though maybe not so soon)

This is from Bimmerposts version of Amar, a follow named SCOTT, who is generally accepted as being a BMW insider/BMW Social Networking team:

If we tone down some of the racing details , like the "extra" width and race orientated aerodynamics then it is a window to a future production model.
and..
The M2 is influenced by the M235i Racing in which this concept [The VGT] looks like a more extreme version.

But if you look at every detail of this concept , every element from the aerodynamic packet to the body sculpture. If we take and shrink it to realistic proportions you get the look of an M car and even so a modern M car with sculpting for air curtains etc.
Even the inclusion of the side breather is an indication how it forms that sculpture at the front wheel arch.
Take a closer look at it and you can see it is more prominent rather than the stuck on look of the M235i Racing. But you also see the progress of evolution from this element on the 1M Coupe.

Even at the rear you can see the ducts that were on the 1M rear bumper assembly carried over and a similar cut-out for the diffuser.
1er M Coupe to M2 Coupe is continued progress but still with the same goal to appeal to younger customers and customers who are young at heart.

I said "other" because I couldn't care less about the Vision stuff. I did watch the video for it and my thought on it was it's just a tarted up M3.

Disappointed no. Expected a little bit more radical design.
I don't drive with interior view.
Only downside is no big V8 sounds yet.

We need more thunder in GT6

I'm not disappointed at all. This car is gorgeous and handles nicely. It's easy to drive consistently with RH tires.

This VGT has an I6 engine.

I believe, and this is 50/50 OT, that we should get 2-5 motec style dashes, a few diferent racing wheels to use on the interiors of those semi-premium and standard cars. It would be the biggest win win situation. For people that love the cockpits, like me, and hate std cars, would make them less undesirable.
Below the mb vgt interior we never got

I voted yes because it drives like garbage for a race car in the online event (like a few others I've driven) :yuck: It looks just okay though :indiff:

I can understand the absence of a cockpit, but the sound....come on....

““I think I mentioned this in the past, but we’re really working to change the fundamental way that the engine sound works,” Kazunori Yamauchi said during a press session at Polyphony Digital’s Tokyo office. “Right now I have a feeling that it might not make it for day one for GT6.”
And still nothing after 6 months.

This VGT has an I6 engine.

Didn't drive it yet, watched youtube. But if it handles great, then i'am gonna have some fun in the Eiffel!

Didn't like the handling of the TT car, kind of darty and unstable, changed the suspension a bit on the gift one, slightly more stiffer springs upfront than rear and some front brake bias, liked it better, and it's more than a match for GT3s in 600pp races.

it does look better in black, but I still wish you could paint it like the Mercedes VGTs...

I think BMW has an interesting cycle when
developing its VGT. Firstly they modeled an i8 to be a M1
successor, then BMW changed mind and instead modeled
an M4/M235i to be a 2002 Turbo / 3.0 CSL successor. Yeah it looks too "normal" for VGT to be honest.
They know how to market car, image, and driving pleasure.
That VGT is realistic, car what they can make if they want, looking much M3 series, makes me want to have M3 Black :)
