Well, first of all, this is about San Andreas, but no spoilers here Spuds. ;) I've pretty much done all of the necessary formatting for my San Andreas Record Book, but all I need are the Stats. But, I live in Australia, and at the moment I will get the game a couple of days later than you guys. There also may still be a delay (no word yet), and I could get the game later. What I want is if anyone can spare some time, send me a list of the stats. I don't care if the game isn't completed, I can update all of that myself later, or people can update me if they wish.

Second is just a small question to anyone who cares. Basically, I would like to see the forums a little neater and update them a touch. I'm not trying to be a Moderator or some big man here, I've just had some time on my hands to think.

Would you like to remove all of Stickied threads from being stickied, replacing them with the three Record Books (San Andreas Pending)?

The Secret Cars is for Vice City is a little dated and I don't think anyone really needs to know it anymore. Plus, with San Andreas coming, I think that is plain unnecessary. Also, the Post your Stats is just a lesser version of the Record Books. The 100% Checklist will also be dated as soon as San Andreas comes out. Also, the Search button is there.

I just think that the forums would look much neater with all three record books up there. Maybe a thread could be created with all the games' 100% Checklists...?

Please give me some response here.

Thanks.

I kind of have mixed feelings about all this. At the time each of those were created they were very popular (at or about the time I started coming here). Stickying them were all redundant since they were constantly bumped up anyway.

It would make more sense to have a sub section for each game but this is just a small section of the GTPlanet (Gran Turismo in case you forgot) and I think was just created to keep the GTA people from posting in their forum. I for one have never posted outside the GTA section and have hardly even looked outside of this section. Unfortunately, there is really not a alot of participation in this site for GTA (at least until the next one comes out) so I'm not sure if this would warrant subsections for the different GTAs-- yes it would make it look neater but the traffic here is still pretty small and it would sort of create work for moderators/admins to minister to it (move threads to correction sections if they are posted to wrong place, etc...)

I don't think the GTA following here is unrully to begin with so it probably wouldn't be too much of a problem.

If I were you I would run it by the people running the GTA section (nocturnalPS or Neon_duke-- who I have no memory of ever seeing them post here)-- let them consider it and I'm not sure if they can creat subforrums or have to run it by Jordan or if its a hassle etc.. they may not want to expand the GTA section.

If they don't create subforums for the different GTAs, then I do agree the stickied threads should be dropped (just because they are dated-- and not used nearly as much). As long as the recordbooks stay on the front page then I don't see a need to sticky them but to keep them up for nostalgia sense might be a mistake too for the same reason that you want to drop the 3 stickied threads there now-- I will always keep a link in my sig so as long as I keep posting, people will see how to get there.

Really the only reason I haven't move the VC recordbook to another forum is (besides the hardcore competition we have here) is because of this site hosting the recordbook images--no other ones I've seen do that so you have to upload to a 3rd site to display images--kind of a hassle.

If anyone wants to see a more structured GTA site (kind of like what Jimmy described--lemme know via PM and I'll direct you to one)-- it has subsections, lots of traffic, and is tightly moderated because of the heavy traffic.

I'm not trying to advertise it (KM posts there too and I saw some Acidman posts there along time ago), this one is still my favorite.

You might want to make a poll (or polls) Jimmy and see what the consensus is for your suggestions-- but I would still run it by the mods FIRST and just see if they would even consider doing any of that.

I like what we have here, although it is a bit messy it's quite like a close community -- I think most people who post in the GTA forum on GTPlanet make most or all or their posts here. Also I've not been able to get to a computer for days but a full page of threads has not been filled with new posts, so I think stickying threads is rendundent in this forum.

I never said anything about sub-forums...

I'm talking about the stickied sections, having the three Record Books up the top and maybe a new thread with all 3 100% Checklists.

A sub-forum for each game would be terrible, there would hardly be anyone posting in anything other than San Andreas. I agree wholly with what Spuds said, but can you please reply to my post, not eddieturner's. I did not ask for sub-forums.

Now I ran this by Jordan, I asked him to take a look at this thread and see how he feels about this. He seems to have read my PM, but no reply and no post here. Not sure whether he's bothering. I'm not PM'ing neon_duke or NocturnalPS anymore as I have PM'ed each twice about this Forum and am yet to get a reply. I venture outside of this forum only for the Music Forum and occasionally Rumble Strip. neon_duke posts alot in the Rumble Strip. I've yet to see NocturnalPS anywhere (he probably posts in the PS2 Forum).

I want reply and feedback to my post please, not eddieturner's.

Thank you.

If you havnt recieved a reply from the moderators then im guessing its not gonna happen.
I think its best to just leave it as it is. As spuds said the most replied posts stay at the top anyway, so if people are gonna keep posting on those threads you wanted to sticky then they'll always be at the top!.

The Secret Cars is for Vice City is a little dated and I don't think anyone really needs to know it anymore.

That does'nt mean they will, alot of people who have just got into the older GTA's will want to know things that may have been discussed years ago, like for instance "secret cars".

I suppose, but Search Button is there. People don't generally go around looking for a Record Book, and it would look a lot neater.

Thanks for the feedback anyway.

I could help post stats on the cars if that helps you. Say, I could go around getting different cars, write down the names, and what they look like, if that helps.

OK, I'm going to have my little rant here.

There WILL be ALOT of people who start frequenting this part of GTP when San Andreas comes out. I want everyoone who comes here now to read this: If someone does something innappropriate ONE person tell them politely what they have done and everyone just drop it. If you have read the GT4 forums you will realise that stuff like that can really start a flame fest.

I know when I started comming here it's the fact that everyone was accepting and helpful that made me stay, I don't think that should change, this is a great forum just because the people here make it that way, let's just try to let everyone settle in comfortably and I'm sure we'll all get on, ok?

Sounds like the plan then! will do!

Blake -- Always have, always will. I hate flaming more than Spam. Why, you ask? GTAGaming forums. 3 of their Mods, the ones that update news the most and do the best GTA mods, walked out because of constant flaming an disrespect. GTAGaming won't ever be the same.

But does anyone like the idea of the three record boks (San Andreas pending) in the stickys with maybe a thread with the 100% Checklists of all 3 major GTA games?

Well i won't be posting here (once the game comes out) until after i've played it which could end up being next year sometime. I could hook up the PS2 to the TV in the lounge but that room is so dusty that the PS2 wouldn't last long. :(

I do have over $2,000 saved up but the majority of that is going to towards the Skyline (my main priority at the moment) so i'm broke until i get the car (and probably after i get it too. ;) ).

Thanks mustang-man. 👍

I'm just trying to get a little feedback from Jordan on this. This forum will be over-run with San Andreas players, and I think it should be cleaned up a little and updated a bit.

What about posting in the Questions and Comments forum as you're more likely to get an answer there? :)

Oh yeah. Why didn't I think of that? :banghead: Thanks Mustang-man!

UPDATE: Just put the question in the Questions and Comments Forum.

Also, that wasn't the only thing I asked in this thread:

When San Andreas comes out, would someone be kind enough to send me the list of Stats when they have the time, as I won't have the game until a few days after USA, or if this Delay rumour persists, maybe not until a couple of weeks after.

Thank you.

I have noticed since I started frequenting this section that it is quite messy compared to say the GT3 Threads and could do with a clean up and if your suggestions would do that, I’m all for it.

Blake: I plan to be one of the many people who frequent here because of San Andreas and I will try to abide by your requests and if I do anything wrong tell me and I'll stop.

I never cared much for the stats list and the 100% i just loved the way the games played and the general missions, the fact of going around and doing heaps of jumps, and collecting packages never interested me. So to make long answer short i wouldnt loose any sleep if you did'nt sticky the three games record books or the 100% checklists.

I like the record books but it would be nice to have a clean version of them that is locked and stickied that has records for all 3 and can be updated with the data from the record book threads (This would eliminate the need for the actual threads to be stickied.)

I like the idea of having a 100% thread for GTA3 & VC... this could be stickied and locked... but the SA one will not be complete for a while so this will need to be a seperate thread also.

On the Stats list... I will quite happily give you a list of the stats once I have the game when I have time... but I suspect that it can probs wait until you get it anyways... until you create a record book thread so don't worry about that... altho if I get time I will send them to you.

@Blake - Defs a good plan... It's so frustrating to see 1 spam post followed by 5 flame posts informing spammer that they've spammed...

Amen.

R32GTST/M -- But would you lose sleep if the others got taken down? No. They haven't been posted in for a long time, and I just don't see the need. But thanks.

Also, the first post can also be edited when we get the 100% Checklist for that, so only 1 thread is needed. Thank you to all who agreed.

Also, I've had Event Horizon agree with me entirely as well. Looking good.

Skyline, nice.

But you could've posted that in The Official Off Topic GTA Thread. ;)

Please someone answer my question. Lol. Out of 13 posts, only one person has answered me!!

Oops....

I sort of agree with you Jimmy-- as far as cleaning it up-- sorry I read your post and the one following and sort of lost track of who wrote what so responded to both. I kind of get in a zone and my mind wanders....what what I saying.

If someone compiles a 100% checklist for each game and creates a thread for it then, the VC 100% should be dropped. The best way to do this (IMO) would be to list each checklist in a seperate post with the most recent game first but a link to each checklist post in the very first post (you can link to individual posts)-- this would sort of be like a table of contents. If you (or someone) creates this then I would ask that the VC one be dropped and the replacement stickied.

Same with special car lists--if someone wanted to compile a list of special cars from GTA3 put them both in one thread--only then unsticky the VC list.

I do agree the Statistics page should be un-stickied and the Recordbooks should be stickied-- I also considered what someone else suggested-- creating a fresh, stickied, locked thread (no responses) for each recordbook with a link to a record posting thread. I was going to probably do that when I asked to get the recordbook stickied next month.

If the Mods won't do it, perhaps Jordan would give mod privlidges to someone for a day to tidy this section up.

Also, before you ask the Mods to unsticky threads, you might want to PM the thread Originator-- Shannon did the 100% and special car lists. The originator can fix it too (but cannot insert posts--like I suggested above)-- they could still add in the sections in the original post and accomplish pretty much the same thing.

Spuds

(also if a thread like mine ever stops getting updated, besides copying to another thread, the mods should be able to change the thread starter. So say if I stopped coming here and Blake wanted to take over the recordbook, the mods should be able to change my first post so it appears Blake started it-- I've seen that on another forum (the VC- PC recordbook no less))

That's what I'm doing with the Record Book. You'll see. I'll do that thread soon.

Also, I don't think the Special Cars list is all that important. I think it can just simply be searched for.

Also, I talk to Shannon on MSN a fair bit. He doesn't seem bothered by it at all.

I think the three Record Books would be fine, just the posting ones. I don't see that as any sort of issue really. I just think each Record Book should be up there.

Anyway, before I do anything I'll wait for Jordan's approval.

If anyone wants me to I will create a clean neat version of GTA3 and GTA VC 100% lists and entire car lists.

And yes Matt, we all want the record books stickied.

Good. I said I'll do it. Just waiting for confirmation at the moment.

And I forgot to mention, I agree with Spuds about changing the Thread Starter. That would be great, but can it be done?

Sorry for my delayed response, Jimmy, I've been extremely busy. I have un-stickied all of the threads as you've suggested and have stickied the two record books that I could find.

Thank you very much Jordan. I understood that you might be busy, as I've sort of kept a track lately and it seems you have been here for around 2 minutes one day, and you left. That's quite alright.

Thank you very much, looks much neater, and I have 2 more threads (pending) that will need to be stickied.
