ive heard this rumor probaly by Microsoft's business opponents that the XBOX has slight bugs in it even thought its the most powerful console released so far. but Micro$oft is typical to such stuff.
then i heard the XBOX second version is to be released soon due to the BUGS
That wouldn't be much different from the first PSX's being prone to overheating, or the first PS2's haveing the 'disc read error' problem. There are always problems in hardware that get fixed later.
Running upgrades aren't unusual in consoles - the PS2's had some running changes to hardware and software, to both eliminate bugs and to assist with cost reduction (as an example, the PS2 has had one whole processor eliminated in an upgrade about 12-18 months ago, which represented a pretty major manufacturing cost reduction). That's one of the reasons the consoles get cheaper as they progress through their life-cycle (and why it's hell being an early adopter!)
And just a little related question: Why the hell do all Xbox pods and showcases at stores and suchlike always malfunction?
The other day I saw an Xbox with Colin McRae 3 saying the disk was either dirty or damaged. I was also playing Quantum RedShift on a pod and it came up with the green screen of death.
This is one of the main reasons why I do not like to buy a console of any kind right away. Glitches, bugs, problems and whatnot. I like to wait a month, at least, for the companies to fix the glitches in new consoles they manufacture. I got my Xbox about 3 weeks ago.
They won't bring out a whole new Xbox - they'll just fix the flaws in it and release a new version. One example is the PSX. There is an earlier version and there is a newer version (not the PSone). Both look virtually identical. Both had different numbers on the back.
When Xbox first came out it had a probablem, because it warped the cd's! But then they fixed it and there working fine now! My friends dad works with Microsoft.
