vx220.jpg
SmokeyMountain2.jpg

Buy a Stock Speedster/VX220 and add everything you can to it . USE ANY SETTINGS ADJUSTMENTS ......... Except DO NOT ADD NA tuning and Turbo's with oil change the cars HP should be at 184hp ... then it will increase as its run in :) Or you can also run it with FULL MODS as well if you like, I'll make 2 leaderboards one for stock and one for full mod

Take the Speedster and see how fast you can get a Hotlap around Smokey Mountain II

This Spottie will end Sun 29th FEB
Have fun!

Okay... I'll bite and be the first to :O myself...

Threw some knee-jerk settings at this "thing" and ran a couple around the mountain yielding a 112.392.

It flies funny:lol: Almost like when we were kids and would run full steam down the path and dive off the embankment into the lake... butt square up in the air.

It lands even funnier:lol: It's like it's swimming trunks were ending up just where ours did... About halfway down the crack!!:eek: You know what I mean, just down far enough that you couldn't quite paddle with your legs after you hit the water until you reached down an pulled em back up.:lol:

Speaking of cracks... I'll tie a rope around it's waist like my mom used to do for us to help us keep them swimming trunks where they belonged and take another at this tomorrow sometime.

And I thought "Ms Clio" was a "Handfull' !!! :eek: :eek: :eek:

Can't let my Partner 👍 get lonely here. Settings similar to the "Odd" set-up I used on Ms Clio & 10 Laps @ Smokey Mountain II have yielded a best so far of:

T1 = 07.935'
T2 = 24.924'
T3 = 43.902'
Lap = 1'08.851
:O:O:O

I'm sure I can find lots more time if I can figure a way to keep this thing on the GROUND!!!...UB57 :D

See!!! I told you I would be the first to embarrass myself:O

My first "tool around" wasn't anywhere near where that was:D

Keep it on the ground??? How about just keeping it pointed in the right direction (on the ground or otherwise). I thought the thing was going to flip over on me the second lap and prove everyone wrong on the physics of the game:eek:

:lol: :lol: :lol: Although I've not seen it, I "Believe" there's a video around of the Escudo doing a "Back Flip." In the Opel however I thought I was gonna do a "Front Flip" going into Turn #1. All I could see out the windshield was "Dirt" & the "Top" of my ghost car from the Lap before!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: (Probably shoulda kept the replay!!!)...UB57 :D

OOPS!! :O I should have posted it properly in the 1st post :O

Sorry I wanted to post something easier than the last round ... my apologies to those who have run a few laps in full mod mode :p

Good Luck 👍

Hmm... It was very fun though. :D I ended at 1'13.845 on one of the few cleans laps.

Well, I'll "detune?" and give it another shot later. ;)

Hi NielsG:
:D Think you'll have to purchase another one as you won't be able to remove "Port & Polish" or "Balance." :( 👍 ...UB57 :D

There will be a leaderboard for both full mod and stock now :D Ron has edited 1st post ;)

OK. Thanks, UB57. :)

No need to buy another VX220, what I meant by stock was buy a stock car and put everything on except the turbo's and NA tuning so the difference between leaderboards will be WITH NA stage 3 and WITHOUT NA stage 3 everything else goes ;) :)

Had a few laps on the DS2 in the run in 194hp Speedster :)

8.282 / 27.229 / 48.163 = 1.15.840

I will take this to the Momo tomorrow as soon as I set it up and dust it off :p

Ok had a good run in the 375hp :eek: this thing is like a kite in the wind :D

using the same set up i used on the 190hp apart from widening the gears, here's my best so far...

7.520 / 23.950 / 42.213 = 1.06.699

there's a load left if I can get over 50% control of the car :p

:eek: :eek: :eek: GREAT Times Mr P !!! :eek: :eek: :eek:
:D Figured I'd be doin' good to get 'er in the 1'07s!!!...UB57 :D

Note: These settings on the tranny are close to what I set it at, doing this from memory and as UB says... :D

asm0
tcs5

I also know these are not where I am going to end up although, I suspect my tranny is not going to change all that much(just final up/down). I will likely keep trying to tweak the suspension stuff to try to keep Air-Opel from launching itself into the stratosphere.

On that subject, I am discovering, as I am sure you more experienced drivers already know, there are definately lines you want to avoid with this car(IE: shift left or right to keep it from taking off on any old bump or rock in the road) and definately lines where it launches unavoidably that you DON'T want to be hitting at an angle:eek:

For what it's worth...

Another fun evening got it to:

1'10.412 (08.348-25.776-45.286) @ 375

and

1'19.735 (08.664-28.887-51.068) @ 190

Both runs with Mr P's settings except for the gears. I'm using the gear trick, but I'm not sure if it pays of on dirt.:confused: It looks like both Mr P and phattboy set them manual. What is the reason for that? (Sorry, I've just started my tuning carrier a couple of weeks ago.:O)
Another thing that puzzles me is your LSD- settings. Why this huge difference?

Edited cause I can't read yet :O

Can't speak for Mr. P but as for me (hey... that rhyms):

I set my gears manually primarily so I wind up in the gear/torque curve where it feels most comfortable to me on certain key corners. That, of course is balanced with getting the most out of the acceleration on the straights. For me, the gear trick never really works out with the way I drive. I usually set it up the first time with the gear trick just to see where some limits are and rarely end up with it staying there.

I guess my point is that every track/car is different. The little runts we have been racing with have, what feel like to me, very short wheel bases and the buttends come around really quick... Therefore: I have been tuning my gearbox down so I generally am running lower rpms. That makes me adjust my driving (read that: momentum maintenance) to rely less on acceleration coming out of the corner. That way I am not wasting my enertia with excess tail swing out.

Some of this depends on whether I choose to run an automatic or a manual transmission as well. If I run an automatic in the dirt, I find that gear tuning is such that I want to make sure I'm set up in a range for the track such that the stupid game won't shift up/down at bad points. If I run a manual, I find that I can often run a more generalized (comfort) setup and short/long shift to gain the same advantages.

As for the difference in the LSD... That's still up for grabs with me. It seems like most people think that in rally, you need to "crank it up". When I am starting a new car/track combo where dirt is involved, I always start with the LSD at one extreme and run the car a while to see how it feels. Then I go to the other extreme and run it awhile to see how that felt. Whichever one feels better initially with that combo of car/track, I tend to go there and then fine tune up from the bottom or down from the top. Then when I get to the end of my practicing and am pretty much zeroed in on the rest of my cars settings, I revisit this same proceedure again to see if maybe now I could squeak a little more time out.

On the other hand, I probably wouldn't listen to me if I were you cause I'm just a forgetful old coot who seems to be behind the faster guys right now:D

I am not spending much time on the PS2. Just don't have the desire to get into the game real deep right now.
