No - in fact, it's just a turbocharged version of the 2.4 found in the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Stratus, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Wrangler, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Mitsubishi Galant, Mitsubishi Lancer, and Mitsubishi Outlander. (Mitsubishi has their own 2.4L, which shares absolutely nothing in common with the Chrysler besides displacement and number of cylinders.) Like the WRX with the Impreza, it's not the same engine found in base-model Neons (The 2.4L is a stroked 2.0L), which use a 2.0L four unique to that model (it's also the smallest engine Chrysler makes) (Chrysler designed and builds the 1.6L Mini engine (which in and of itself is basically a debored and slightly stroked 2.0L)).

If you have a stereo, that is louder than the Concorde, and you roll thru my neighborhood with it cranked, windows breaking from the volume, and blood running out of your ears...you might be a ricer.

But I'm a truck guy. I think Japanese trucks are just a joke. America has made trucks for many more years and knows what they are doing.
