Ok I just want to shed some light on a question I have on DLC. I don't want to compare GT to anything but I wanted to point something out.

A lot of people here believe that there will be no DLC. I just find it hard to believe it's taking such a long time to get any DLC. To be honest the most resent DLC we had was the Chromeline Jag, the Stealth GT Academy GTR, and the Edge Camaro SS. Each of those car were already on the Blu-Ray. I don't want to bring you all down but the downloadable file was less than 1MB. When Spec II came for Prologue it was 2GB+ for 3 cars. I will get back on the Prologue again later

That information aside this is what I want to say is, I want to believe PD doesn't need to solely work on GT6 and not release DLC because everything they are working should be capable with GT5. KY did specify that the game is was a glimpse of what the future of GT will look like. I want to say every car they are working for GT6 old or new should be eligible for GT5 DLC.

A great example to this idea (please excuse my comparison) Forza. They have release DLC relatively fast since it released. Also I know for a fact the Turn 10 will learn from it's competitors and listen to the community that drives it's sales. Every car on-Disc or DLC etc, will make it to the new Forza which will only make it better IMHO.

I just want to know who here still has hope PD will release a Decent DLC pack? I definitely have hope that Kaz will pull thru with a great surprise hopefully before GT6 comes out.

A lot of people are hopeful.

That rumor is going out to something outside of GT5 a vast majority believes it's TT2 but who knows?
I just wanted to point out that if PD is spending time in GT6 they could release some of that content for $$ for GT5. Then when GT6 comes around they add it to that game too, it's seriously win/win for PD to release DLC.

Chromeline Jag, the Stealth GT Academy GTR, and the Edge Camaro SS. Each of those car were already on the Blu-Ray. I don't want to bring you all down but the downloadable file was less than 1MB.
All those cars were already in the game in a pre-existing form. Just because it was a small download doesn't mean it was already on the disc. All they needed were power/weight tweaks and a new livery and that's the reason the downloads were so small.

You don't seriously think that there was a 'secret partnership' in the works between PD and a razor company all through development do you? No, the deal was made after the fact and PD added an extra version of the Camaro. It doesn't take much code to tell the game to use an existing car as a base, change the output, add purple paint on it, and give it a new name.

The the new polygonal model for the Edge Camaro's aero kits are very high. Those models were not seen else where which would explain why I believe it's on disc.

But I have one more theory that could support you. You remember patch 1.05(or later) how big it was? 100mb+ I believe the car could have been added there and saved until schike decide to release the codes.

I could be wrong about being on disc but one that that would support my theory being because in order for me to use my Camaro everyone needs the file to play with me which I know I have friends who don't have that code and I've raced with them. Same goes to the chromelines and stealth cars. I know this are on the Disc.

Good call there. In addition to the actual patches there may very well be DLC cars piggy-backing their way into everyones systems, staying hidden to be unlocked at a later date through product partnerships or promotions.

That is what I can only hope for when we get those large patches that seems so bloated and useless.

Side note I better get that GTR special. I bought the Collectors edition hoping for that car lol

I also wander, has anyone tried getting Stealth codes to work in the NTSC version if the game? I want to know before I buy a Signiture edition game...

I will just say this. If we do not get any DLC I will not be surprised at all. Look at all the stuff we didn't get with the final game and they had this game in development for how long...... I hope Kaz can prove me wrong but I'm not holding my breath.

The game has been out since November, Shift 2 has already got a pack, and you know how much PD doesn't do things like other devs. Hell even Kaz don't care what the other devs do he has even said that himself.

I just hope they give us some more Miatas and Skylines.

Edit: Its been said before that the codes won't work.

I usually edit only to fix grammar issues lol that all I have done.

On a side note I strongly believe we are going to get an update when PSN is back.
Just read KY's tweets.

First of all, would like to say that I am a massive fan of GT5, I found it kept my PS3 occupied day in day out from Christmas until the PSN went down in April. Yes, it does have a number of issues (all detailed in other threads and not worth going into) but overall, it's a brilliant, imersive racing experience.

But.....

The situation with DLC and patching is getting silly now. Plenty of people posted that they expected a patch when the PSN was back up. Why then? Patching was possible at any time and not effected by the PSN outage. Most of my PSN friend list (and me to a certain extent) are now playing other games as the remote b-spec and online gaming was a big part of most people's experience. A timely patch would have kept people interested and coming back for an improved single player experience whilst the online functionality was down.

Obviously, DLC is a different matter and only available with the re-introduction of the PSN. As a lot of people have pointed out, other rival racers have already had meaningful DLC after a far shorter time on the market and further to this, virtually all of my favourite games have had DLC (both paid for and free) during their life span. I find the lack of communicattion and the ambiguity surrounding DLC coming from PD unacceptable. It really feels that they care very little for the millions of people who have spent hard earned money on their product and have been ardent in their support of that product to date. I don't expect miracles, if GT5 was still 2 years from completion, then I didn't expect a DLC pack within 2 weeks of it's intoduction - but 6 months or more down the line and nothing. And even worse, no real communication (if we had something to look forward to....). Some people may point to cryptic tweets or a magazine interview condsucted some months back - but there is nothing concrete. And what is in it for PD? Well, firstly profit - i'm sure most GT5 fans would pay for a decent DLC pack without thinking twice. Secondly, customer loyalty - restore and improve the faith in their product, stop gamers going elsewhere. Finally, it's just good PR!!

I don't intend to comment on the content that should be included as there is an excellent thread for this with some brilliant ideas and I hope PD do pay attention to this. Moreover, I feel that GT5 fans have been hung out to dry. Whilst i'm sure it won't effect sales of GT6, I don't think i've ever seen such discussion over one single game (not one i've played anyway), so who knows what the feelings will be for PD when GT6 arrives.

Thanks for reading!

My theory is with 1000 cars and 70 tracks you dont get a DLC (soon, and you know what that minds).

A lack of DLC may indicate that GT6 will be on the PS3 and therefore PD are saving up all possible new content (tracks and cars) for GT6. Depends how much "new stuff" they have if they can spare a few things to give to GT5.

First of all Kaz said the game that gets released is everything and there will be no DLC!

Second, that link to the G-TR, we already have it! GTacademy prize car?

Third, they are working on a new game, not GT6!

I love but at the same time am dissapointed with GT5, so many strange decisions, unfinished parts, dodgy physics etc...

If it weren't for the fact you can have amazing online races it would be very poor indeed.

I feel Kaz gave up on this game half way through, hence him jetting off around the world, racing and going to car award shows no doubt on Sony's money in the name of "research"!!!

Don't hold your breath for DLC! Only faint hope of something near the end of the year, i.e when Forza 4 comes out!

It's now what, 7 months after release, and still no substantial DLC??

I don't discount the possibility of getting a car here or there, or maybe a standard upgraded to a premium, but, in my opinion, I think the next serious addition to Gran Turismo will be Gran Turismo 6.

They might not call it that, and it might not be a full $60 dollars, but I do think it will be a separate Blu Ray.

I hope I'm wrong though... I'd love some downloadable DLC.

I can't believe it's already been 7 months. I don't see (what most are wanting). As long as it takes to model a car a car here or there is what we are going to see. Hell it is all we have seen.

Second, that link to the G-TR, we already have it! GTacademy prize car?

Not the same car.

Great thread.

My 2 cents... I have no faith in Sony or PD for any DLC. I have read and not sure of the truth in it but Kaz has made statements and PD has released regressive updates:
1. PD could of spent years more time on GT5
2. The retail game contains the whole game (not that it contains or does not contain DLC) and there will be no major updates/changes.

Then there are the regressive downdates and not updates limiting what one could do with the original version 1.00 of the game.

3. 1.07 update and others eliminated the "Free Trading/Gifting" that made trading fun. I am talking about each account being able to gift a car not just the 1 PS3 console, and the 1 million CR limit on gift cars. ( More of a regression then an update) It helps to prolong the initial purchaser keeping of the game. I don't know of too many GT fans that would resell the game but many do. And it also bought more time for PD to work on other stuff GT related or not, in the sense that it takes a serious amour of time to complete the game or even get to lv 35. By not allowing 1 M cr trades, that added months to the completion time. I have never had 20 M cr without glitching, and only have come close with the seasonal grinding.

4. Fixing of glitches or game exploits instead of adding more playable content. Yes some gameplay glitches need to be fixed but fixing game exploits is regressive. How many games have cheats for unlimited ammo or lives and such, many. Why not GT5? Sure I want to play but at some point I want to see everything in the game and have fun with the Full game, all levels all cars, everything.

And finally look how Sony handled the PSN downtime. There were vague updates, no real info, and they tried to deflect the blame from Sony to the hackers. Hey when I put my money in the bank I am trusting the bank to protect my money, not trusting the thief to leave it alone, as I know the thief is trying to get my money. Hackers hack, so Sony better be able to deal with it. Amazon got hacked and had no down time, and I am guessing Amazon is much smaller in size and money then Sony.

So I am not holding my breath for DLC or real updates as everything so far has been to limit or stop how the pre-updated straight out of the box GT5 was. Sure some online stuff has been corrected as far as payouts and stuff but the updates have been more fixes and limits then new stuff. Most increasing the time it takes to complete the game, which makes me think there will be no DLC. And Kaz has stated that GT5 really could have been for a PS4 if and when it comes out. So I'm guessing they are working on the next generation GT6 for a new console.

Thanks for reading.

@gt500all

Love your points about the regressive updates. Whilst they have added a few nice things into the mix (seasonal events, remote play etc...), it seems that too many updates have been snap reactions to glitches in the game.

I'm a believer that, if someone wants to cheat, let them cheat. If the completion level is so time consuming as to be nearly impossible, it may be a last resort. I am not a glitcher at all (no second account, never attempted the online glitches) but I have resorted to some auto A spec grinding (or rubber banding) which, granted, is still a form of cheating. Even with this, I still only have under 300 cars and a fair bit still to do in the game. Newsflash: Games have cheats, it's part of gaming!

If the effort had instead been put into adding new functionality, events, cars, tuning options, maybe even a change of structure so reaching level 40 didn't take hundreds of hours of game time, then I suspect most would be a lot happier with the game.

I was expecting lots of DLC with minor micro transactions a car here or there for $0.99-1.99, track for $3-5 etc. That we haven't gotten any is a bit discouraging and the likelihood decreases with each passing month. It's still possible we could get a larger and more conventional "pack" of stuff, probably priced $9.99 to $12.99 or so, but I'd be surprised if it was more than one or two before GT6

Its been six months since the game was released and no mention yet. I personally don't think we will get DLC as there are plenty of new cars out there that GT5 just do not have like TDU and Forza. I have learned to take it as it comes. I still am not completely satisfied with GT5 as many aren't but what can we do. X-Box Live and their online players pay for playing online so maybe if we had to do the same thing then we would also get the very most updated and latest cars available. Beside a lot of cars in GT5 are from GT4 so this game is just an update from GT4 I think.

I think my biggest disappointment with the whole DLC fiasco is the lack of communication - the 'will we, won't we' feeling.

If PD just announced that they won't be adding any further content then we could just get on with enjoying the game as it is!

As long as it took to get GT5 to market (5 years), I don't know what makes you guys think PD would be able to get DLC out in anything less than a year. There is nothing to indicate that PD is capable of putting out quality content in a reasonable amount of time. I believe the DLC will come, just not any time soon.

Here's a question, what kind of DLC are you looking for? Tracks, cars, parts? At this point I don't really care if they did or not. Actually, would prefer they focus on 6, sure up the problems and bone-headed mistakes of 5. Give us more premium cars and a better "cohesive" product. ...and do it in 2-3 years.

Anything really, whatever they have to give I'd gladly buy. I've grown up loving and playing the GT series...so my fanboyism would lead me to spend the money as soon as whatever DLC would be released.

Waiting for GT6 is a hard pill to swallow. I have no reason to believe it would take anything less than 5 years to release. No new game content for 5 years? Blech.

Nothing wrong with fanboyism. I'm not as happy with it as you are. Blows my mind some of the bone head things they've done. I just want to get through it 100% with everything, then I've got the Dirts in my wishlist and hopefully I'll see Grid 2 soon. That'll keep me busy waiting on 6.

I just want to say to all the GT5 fans stop bothering with these illusions. Probably there will be no DLC, maybe they are working on GT6 for PS4. In the meanwhile (could be years) if you are getting bored with GT5 just jump into PC simracing, buy your rFactor copy, download the mods and have fun with it. Tons of cars and tracks available for free, stop being fooled by the market.
