Ace combat had got to be the most underrated series ever...I love this game and I have played every single one and own the last three. It sucks that it had to come out so close to GTA SA because I had to choose between the two, AC5 didn't even have a chance...Oh well :( Ill get it soon.

Ace Combat is under rated and Grand Theft Auto is over rated. Your friends will all have GTA:SA, you should get Ace Combat 05!! Then swap in a couple months.

I don´t think Ace Combat is under rated, at least here in Brazil the series has a lot of fans, it´s considered one of the best games on PS2.

And I don´t think GTA is over rated also. The game simply rocks!

GTA is overrated by just a tad. It's still awesomeness.

Let me put it this way, since AC5 (bundle) and GTA:SA were added to my collection, AC5 has gotten more play. Go figure.

I don't know when the release date was. But I saw it in Wal-Mart today. So it's been out for a little while at least.
I'm not ready to drop $50 on it yet though.
Same here. Hey, I love the game and the series. Ace Combat was great. AC2 was OK and AC3 was a very good game. AC4 was absolutely spectacular, but a bit too easy, even for me, and was way to short.

Ace Combat 5 will be mine, but I'm not the hard core gamer I once was. So, spending 50 bucks on a game doesn't seem realistic even if I do have the spare cash. Besides, I still have the demo and seem to be saving my stuff for MGS3. I have an internet friend who writes for a gaming magazine and he said the game is better than MSG1 and MGS2.

Awesome pics Viper Zero! I love your room, too. A TV on top of a TV. I'm really envious now! Heh. Nice dollies, too. ;)

Yes, a TV on top of a TV, extremely ghetto. Actually, the bottom 2 are in my living room and no, they're not my dollies. They're my mom's dolls. :)

I like AC04 a whole bunch, so I assume AC05 will be just that much better. And with the flight stick stuff it's got to be bad ass.

oh it is.

it just takes a while to adjust to the huge amount of buttons and doohickeys.

I'd give it a 9.

You have to like planes and things exploding though. If the source material doesn't inspire you, then you're wasting your time.

Hey dun get me wrong, i love planes and stuffs. Its only that 8 is pretty high for my standards. The voice acting and the lack of co-op or multiplayer play are just the few minor things that it lacks. But overall, I definately recommend this game. Even my frineds got influenced by me and supported the game.

I am thinking about purchasing the joystick package. Is it worth it? From the previous post someone said its US$130 right?
Gamespot forum mentioned that some sticks are buggy as they pull left by themselves even when left untouched.

And can some kind soul explain to be how the Fox One Sparrow missle works? Is it by radar? Is it true that I have to keep my target within the Big Circle all the time from launching the missile to hitting the target? Or is it a fire and forget?

Dang, i bought the Japanese version. No english subtitles. So i turn them off.

Ya, the AIM-7 Sparrow uses a semi-active radar system. The target needs to be within a radius displayed on the HUD in order for the missile to keep a lock.

The vibration in the controller usually shakes it to the left. It hasn't bothered me, but I wished it had a calibration program like GT3 did for the wheels.

Is it worth the $130? Hell yes.

Man, i rented AC5 this evening and wow. Im not into plane games, but this game is beautiful. Never played any of the AC series before, so learning the controls took about 30-45 mintues. Those tutorials actually helped.

The story, graphics, and most of all, game play is just crazy. All the different aircraft is really fun too. Best part is i dont whats good or not so i just run w/ the Hornet. It makes a pretty good statement in that level where you sink the sub.

How many planes total are there? Any cheat codes to get them? I usually despise cheating, but i dont have my memory card, so i get to start all over from mission 1 tomorrow. Yay me.........

Anyway, i salute the people that got the flight sticks. I bet this game is 10x better w/ them.

Man, i swear taking off and landing are the funnest things ever. I'll tell you what though, some of the stages are long. My hands started to cramp through a couple of them. Crazy stuff.

Lastly, how do you get paint jobs for the planes? I was pretty interested in something other than metal.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Viper. Guess i will have to part with my $260. Since U.S currency is twice as much as my currency.

You have to kill the Aces in each level to unlock new paint schemes. You have to beat the game once to have the Aces appear in the levels.

Damn 8492nd. Pesky bastards think they're the **** in their F-15 Actives. Anyway, I'm close to the end. I should be able to complete it today.

Man, I gotta get this game soon! I´m hoping to get it next week, along with Killzone and Ratchet 3. So many good games, and so little money to buy them all. :(

Yeah, I got it installed. No problems.

Loading a new level is much quicker, but everything else is seems to be about the same.

I wish that day would have 48 hours! :sly:

I finally finished AC5. It was an awesome ride to say the least.

I only wished that the story was longer. In traditional Japanese style, the ending leaves the reader wondering.

I really liked the whole Demons of Razgriz story. It brought importance to yourself playing as Blaze and your wingmen, just like how Mobius 1 and Yellow 13 did for AC04. Also, the Cold War style battle between countries and ideology is also interesting and refreshing compared to the stale bad guy vs. good guy story. I hope Namco continues similar storylines for future Ace Combats.

AC5 is definitely one of the top games to get this year on any platform. Graphics, sound, music, story telling, gameplay, AC5 has it all. Of course, the flightstick bundle makes it even sweeter.
