Action shot settings

Want to take action shots of cars but i dont know what the settings are. Is is something to do with the shutter speed?
 
Not quite sure what you mean but, if you mean shots like these:

The settings would be panning on Mode 3, with a low shutter speed.
 
If you're trying to capture speed, use Panning Mode 2 or 3, and use auto-focus on the car. A shutter speed of 1/60-1/250 should do nicely, depending on how fast you're going.

Always try and capture a view of where the car is coming from, or where it is heading. Also, do a little research on composition.
