Before anyone starts griping at me, I did search. Putting "Acura DN-X Concept" into the search brought up absolutely nothing. Either my 10+ years of using the search feature on many different forums doesn't work on this one, or this car has just never been mentioned.... :p

So I was playing around with some 4wd vehicles today, just to see how some of them would react on the dirt, and I picked up and fully modded the DN-X. Supposedly it's some sort of hybrid with a petrol engine powering the rear wheels and electric motors powering the front.

Well, even though you can adjust the LSD for the front wheels, you cannot adjust the AWD torque bias, can't even buy the center diff. So I take it to K Trail and it's pretty clear right off the bat that this thing has no power going to the front wheels. It does, however, have a hybrid system similar to the prius/insight, where anytime you let off the gas, it's recharging the battery. If you slow down enough, the throttle will sit at about 80% open until the battery is charged. Now, I tried this in the Honda DulaNote (same car) and it just acted normal, but in the DN-X, while it's doing this charging thing, if you push in the clutch (at least on my G27) the screen turns black, and the steering wheel goes full lock to the left.

While the screen is black, you can still see the HUD, and it's showing all 4 tires as being red. After a few seconds of not touching anything, the screen comes back and the camera is now on top of the car (roof cam), where as before it was in the chase position. Switching between views you get this: bumper cam, black screen, roof cam, black screen. So the interior view and the chase view DO NOT work once this has happened.

After a minute or so, I was able to start driving the car again (seemed like it didn't want to go anywhere until the battery charged), but the tires were always red on the HUD. Once again, I pressed on the clutch and the black screen came up, wheel at full lock to the left. Then the view came back on just as before, only 2 views, red tires on HUD, etc. Eventually, the battery went fully dead and it would not show the "white arrow" towards the battery as it did before when it would charge.

Anyways, I checked out the replay, and watched from the action cam (I think that's the name of it), and sure enough, as soon as I hit the clutch, the replay went black... then it came back on and the strangest thing happened, the car sounded like a whistling tea kettle, had 2 streams of brown smoke billowing up out of the engine compartment lid, all 4 tires/wheels were COMPLETELY gone, but there was white smoke coming from all four corners.... while on dirt.

I saved the replay, and I can upload it onto this site, but I do not know how to make it into a youtube video, so if someone out there wants to do that for me, just PM me and I'll upload the vid to gtp. Anyways, on with the pictures I was able to capture.

Hard to see in this picture, but little puffs of smoke were coming out of the car going straight up into a cloud of smoke!

At the top of this picture you can see the cloud of smoke forming above the car... strange.

One of the more "bizarre" happenings in GT5

Probably blew your engine. that would explain the missing tires and smoke coming from everywhere. it happens ;)

Puts new meaning to "floating calipers". :p

I just recorded the replay with my point-n-shoot camera, but my house is just way too noisy with the kids, wife and dog... I'll see if I can't edit out the noisy parts on YT and get it posted up later.

Im guessing this cant be replucated by people that dont have a clutch? Can you replucate it?

I actually did it a few minutes before this, that's when I tried it with the Honda DulaNote car, realized it didn't work, and went back to the DN-X and it did the same exact thing as before. I'm glad it did it a second time, as I completely didn't even think about saving the replay the first time.

That's not a glitch, it's an easter egg
Obviously it's a hint of what's to come in the future of driving, it is a concept car after all. <sarcasm>
:dopey:

Tested again on SSRX, works pretty much the same. It's not pissing out a cloud of smoke from the engine lid though. Also, while driving around after the glitch happened, you don't actually see any of the smoke, or any skid marks on the pavement, though it's all there when you view the replay.

So the bug/glitch works online. Put car in first gear, let out clutch without applying throttle. The car "stalls", steering wheel cranks to left lock, tires are completely worn in 1-2 seconds, battery (for the electric motors up front) is drained, and the screen turns black for a few seconds. The screen will go back to the track view, but it only works with bumper cam and roof cam, the cockpit view and chase cam do not work, just a black screen. Apparently once all this has happened, nobody else on the track can see the car. One guy said he could hear it, but I bumped into a couple of other cars and they just kept going.

So you just fully tune it up without altering anything else? I've been trying this and i've had no luck.

Maybe it just doesn't work on DS3 pads?

The only way I've gotten it to work is by stalling the engine by letting out the clutch pedal on my G27 without applying throttle. I don't imagine it'd work without a clutch.

I was in the room with him when it happened. I couldn't even see him when he was in the car, but any other car worked fine. I must say thee DN-X sounds insane.
