Tested a couple of the awd GT-R's there yesterday and you could only get a couple laps. Tried Race Mediums and you got maybe a few more. Let's get together a couple of us maybe Monday and do some tire testing to see if we should run Softs or Mediums

I suggest meds at a lower hp (522hp)

Those with 9 or above need to re-test for about 10 minutes straight to ensure their ping can and will get lower. For instance mine shows 6. However my 7 subsequent tests resulted in jitter of 3 consistently. 9-10 no bueno. Wireless...why? It's not like you walk around the house with your PS3.

Ping under 120-100 is fine. I'm pretty sure Bo that your bandwidth test with mics. on will show that mics. far exceed what racing without mics. chews up.

Lol, now were on jitter. You guys crack me up. Ya I'm the one messing the room. My jitter is a 10 from 2000+ miles away. You really wanna see my results when I test a server that is closer. Like 100 miles or 50 like some of you with a ping in the frigging 70s. And I'm WIRELESS. This debate is really getting under skin. I don't know what else to say. Ya its my connection, "IS THIS IT, IS THIS WHAT THIS IS ABOUT MANNY. YOU NEED PEOPLE LIKE ME, SO YOU POINT YOUR ¶Π©√ING FINGER, AND SAY THATS THE BAD GUY, SO, WHAT THAT MAKE YOU? GOOD? YOUR NOT GOOD. Let's apply some logic to this discussion. If you have a ping test result of 50ms and your jitter is 10 this says your results varied by 10ms. In other words your ping test was between 45ms and 55ms. On the other hand you have a ping test result of 80ms yet your jitter was 1, this implies that your ping varied from 79ms to 81ms. The ping is the amount of time it takes a packet of information to get from your PS3 to a server and back. Yes the last example is "more stable", but it is still slower than the first example. As racers, we can appreciate that speed matters.

If we, as a group of racers, want to get to the bottom of this we could set up a lobby and invite league members one by one until the racing experience starts to suffer. Then ask the last member added to leave the lobby and verify that the racing experience improves. If so, then invite a different racer to the lobby and see if the racing experience stays the same or degrades again. If it degrades then it's the number of attendees. If it stays the same it could have something to do with the racer added when the racing experience degraded. Once you get to a predetermined number of racers in the room without a degraded racing experience, then you can turn on mics. If the racing experience is good with mics, the problem is a racers connection. IF the good racing experience degrades with the addition of mics, then it's the mics that are degrading the racing experience.

Since my first race with AIWJT was Suzuka, I cannot be considered a league member. If the league decides to conduct this test and needs "test subjects" I would be glad to participate as an extra once the members are satisfied with their results. I think it's fair to say that the common goal is to improve the racing experience, and not point fingers at one another. It's my personal opinion that anyone looking to point fingers should find a new hobby. If any league member feels that my contributions are unnecessary, please send me a PM and I will be sure to withdrawl from further comment.

we all need to be looking at the one thing that the PS3 will not let us measure, Packet Loss.
After all; "Jitter is merely the variance in measuring successive ping tests. Zero jitter means the results were exactly the same every time, and anything above zero is the amount by which they varied. Like the other quality measurements, a lower jitter value is better. And while some jitter should be expected over the Internet, having it be a small fraction of the ping result is ideal."

Whereas Packet Loss, "Much as it sounds, if you have anything less than complete success in transmitting and receiving "packets" of data then you are experiencing this problem with your Internet connection. It can mean much slower download and upload speeds, poor quality VoIP audio, pauses with streaming media and what seems like time warping in games -- your connection may even come to a total standstill! Packet loss is a metric where anything greater than 0% should cause concern."

I like your idea Envy. One twist I would like to add. We should fill a lobby of 15 and rotate in driver 16 for each race and rotate out driver 1.

Example:

Race 1.
I would be driver 16.

Race 2.
I will now be driver 15 and Brett would be driver 16, his first race, driver 1 would not race again until we have all 16 cycle through.

Race 3.
I will be 14, Brett 15 and Scorpion 16, his first race this time. 1st again quits until all 16 cycle through.

-Driver 16 always being the newly introduced driver. If any one driver has the connection issue it will be discovered when they are driver 16 and lag starts or when they quit at exit from driver position 1 and lag ceases.

Brett we need a rotation chart.

This BS has gone on long enough. No more whinnying or pointing fingers. No more fighting. I've had it. This is a GAME. It is supposed to be fun not stressful. I almost don't even want to read the thread anymore. We race together to enjoy each others company and escape the REAL world stress for a couple hours every week. That is what STC/ALLIn is all about. I personally enjoy getting together with you guys and just BS. I could give a crap about the racing part. All this arguing is tearing us apart. So we can do 1 of 2 things; let JT, DJ and I get things straightened out or we can continue to let our group go all to hell. So ENOUGH

Monday we are going to do a tire test to see if we should run race softs or mediums. The hp limit is still going to be 601. I'd like to keep it no more than a 2 stop race. So if any of you guys are setting up your cars prior to Monday test both sets of tires.

My opinion is to leave it open, let everyone use their brains and figure out a strategy that will be best for them. The new tire wear adjustment is great, it adds to the depth of the game. I mean they gave us three sets of tires. Why not use all three. That's just me.
