All standards will become premium...?

I am pretty sure there is a thread on this already. The new beetle is not the same beetle that was there before. The jag seems to be the same vehicle. Will all cars be switched over? maybe not. It is a better chance to see no more standards in GT6 than now in GT5.

Yeah, the '66 1200 Beetle weighs in at 1160 kg! so it's pretty far removed from the 1100.

But the Jaguar.
Why make a premium upgrade DLC?

Are we ever getting premium upgrades for standards?

I think it depends on the current availability of the real-life cars and whether or not the manufacturers want PD to capture them.

PD most likely premium-ized the XJR-9 because it was available in a nearby museum of sorts, and that the guys there allowed PD to take new pictures of it and borrow it for scanning.

With your proof being where?

My proof?

I have a premium upgraded XJR-9 in my garage and i paid for it.
Despite official statements by PD i have yet to see any sign of any premium upgrades, besides the Jaguar.
Did i mention that i paid for it?

Aha, 800 cars to go out and find mutliple car mesuems and take a few days to scan and take pictures of the car, then theres the "6 months" PD claims they need to make it BEAUTIFUL enough to be premium, see ya in GT9 my friend

... but you have to pay for them.
Is this what the DLC3 Beetle and the XJR-9 indicates?

Yes, and each DLC released every 2 month will contain 2 models. So for 800 cars it will
  • take 130 years
  • cost you 2400 EUR
till you have them all premium :D

Let me explain: It's just silly to think that. They needed like 5 years to model what? Around 200 models, they're not going to waste the next 20 years modeling 800 more, which have been in the series already.

I could be completely wrong, but doesnt PD have the ability to scan cars from diecast models? Would make sense to me to do it this way rather than having to have the actual car. We already know they dont use actual cars for the engine sounds we are getting.

It's silly to think that they will upgrade all of the cars but it seems pretty obvious that any they do upgrade in the future are going to cost more money.

:banghead:

Allow me to rephrase: are we only getting premium upgrades as DLC, i.e. no premium upgrades unless you pay up?

If PD was actually going to convert all 800+ Standard cars into Premium cars it's scary to think how much it would end up costing us. It is costing us roughly $1 per car now.

Jai
Quite the narrow theory? It does take time to model these cars..

Yes but it's the age old point that they should have been in the game to start with. A flagship PS3 game should not have shipped with PS2 quality cars and paying extra to get some of those cars in PS3 quality stinks, quite frankly.

I'm satisfied with the standard cars, and glad PD decided to include them. I believe it does cost a bit of money to model a Premium to start with, not to mention they need to play their employees.

They are not going to make them all obviously. The race cars and high end cars will probably be the top priorities in the standard to premium dlc. As for paying them, well you can bet they sure will.

If anything the following will happen: All worthless copies of different year'd MX-5's, S2000's ect will be scrapped and forgotten, while the cars which stand out (LMPS, mabye some GT300, 2J/2D) will get premium treatment. I say GT6 will be a good game if based off all premiums even if its about 500+ But in GT5's case, let the ranting continue

All standards are certainly not going to become premium in GT5's lifetime. In 10-15 years, maybe...

According to your statement Turn10 has planed Forza vor over 20 years now.

Forza 4 has about 600 Premium Cars and everyone has his unique sound. So it is possible to do that. And they did it in 5-6 years. And GT5 was 5-6 years in development.

So why not. PD is smaller but it it possible and it will NEVER take 10-15 years :sly:

For the future PD has a plenty of work to do and will be with GT6 behind Forza 5/6 in the car value part.

They're not the ones who had to move from ps2's graphical capibilities to ps3's:rolleyes:

What? They did it Forza 1 (Xbox 1) and Forza 2 was the same situation and from Forza 2 to Forza 4 it was 5-6 years. So what is the problem?

They did the same and faced the same problems with HD and everything.

I'll cut PD some slack because the PS3 is harder to work with than the Xbox. But then again I'm pretty sure they had dev kits pretty early in PS3's life. I find it hard to imagine that they still havent gotten the hang of it yet.

Yes they had the same situation. I dont want to say that Turn10 is better or so. The work from Turn 10 in 5-6 years with a jump to HD Console is a sign that you can make 600 Premium cars in 5-6 years with a realistic, unique, good sound.

So we can hope :)

And it will never take 10 years to build 600 new cars in GT6 even if we see another console upgrade (PS4).

And Turn10 made more new engines. So the fact that the PS3 isn´t easy to develop doesnt count. One Engine vs. about 2 engines. Forza 4 was a totally new engine. The time waste is nearly equal.
