Am I the only one?

Would be nice is if you could place weight anywhere in the car instead of just centered front to back on the floor... for this purpose obviously drivers seat :)

Would be interesting to see how much weight you hve to add to throw off something like an Audi TT

I did this in GT4, jeese it felt crazy

Where is everyone putting the weight? I just left mine right in the middle. Maybe a few ticks forward would be more appropriate?

Ever since the ballast option has been added, I've been adding my actual body weight to every car, since the weight in game doesn't take in to account a driver.

I love this idea and wish I'd thought of it before. I'm going to do this from now on. 👍
Hold up a minute, how much does Bob weigh?

Well, looking at his performance, I'd say he's kind of a lightweight if not featherweight.

That's an interesting idea, but in a way you're sort of shooting yourself in the foot because while you're adding ballast to your car to represent your weight in your car there's no weight being added to your competition to simulate their driver weight.

I haven't personally fooled with the ballast, so I wonder... can you set it up exactly where you want it in the car? I mean, it's one thing to simply add a couple hundred pounds to represent the driver, but what about positioning the weight properly? After all, a driver's weight isn't evenly distributed throughout the car, but rather is all lumped in one spot, and normally on one side of the car. The position of the weight makes a difference, at least in the real world.

IceMan, your point is very valid, that's why the body weight should be handled by the developers, not by our tuning.

What a good and fun idea :) I'll start doing this as well I think! It's a shame you can't shift the weight left and right though :P

Excellent idea and will start it myself this weekend. Begs the question though, will we all start lying to ourselves at what our actual body weight is. lol

Too lazy to figure out what I weigh in KG.

True. I haven't played with this option to know how much precision there is as far as weight placement. If we can't shift the weight to the side to best represent the driver's weight as per their location in the car, it's not going to be highly accurate, but at least it's better than no weight at all.
(That is, of course, if you're in a car that doesn't have the seat in the center. That's most of the cars in the game, but at least it's not all the cars in the game...)

If you ask me, it depends on the driving situation as to how much of a potential "handicap" it might be...

If you're just racing in Practice mode, or you're racing Online with a bunch of folks you know that will also implement this extra thing, it's not much of a "handicap" at all.

If you're racing in A-Spec Career mode, then your competition is "handicapped" by the "sanity and common sense challenged" driving AI that exists in the game. At least we could even the playing field a bit more by weighing down our car a little.

Peace...

Honestly?

Doesn't take much to type "convert X lb to kg" into a Google search window to get the conversion.

I'll probably be slow on the straights in go karts like I am in real life.
Need to lose weight...

Do you get the opportunity to place your bodyweight in the car or does it just add thw weight generally?

I read a review of the MP4-12C recently, and the interior cockpit features a razor thin centre console so McLaren could get the seats closer to the centre of the car to optimise its balance.

One thing I'm working on is putting every car available through the dealership (so, all the premiums) through the same test and collecting data on each car for comparison, focusing on lap times. It's really interesting to see which cars aren't worth the money and which are actually great value...

P.S. Adding driver weight = cool idea!

Do we know that the physics engine doesn't take driver weight into account?

Some cars have the garage/dealership weight listed as what the vehicle specifications are, which is a "curb weight" - full fluids, but no passengers or cargo. I haven't checked every car, but I have no problem with the logic of "because 15-20 cars' weight is the specification weight, it's rational to presume all cars are reported in the same fashion."

We don't know that somewhere between the garage and racing, driver weight is not put in. We don't know that and won't without some sort of comment from PD.

Someone should tweet Kaz and ask. 👍

Yeah, that's what I meant. The listed weights in the dealership are well and good, but they might add an "average person" into the car when doing calculations.

:tup:This has to be one of the better ideas that has been tossed about in these forums, I am going to test it out right now

I pointed out the same thing. Maybe someone with a twitter account can ask kaz.

Goo idea but with would be much better if PD implemented a driver weight into the A-spec profile that would be added to every car from then on.

Would be very interesting in the likes of karting but it would suck on-line when you end up racing 7 year olds, haha.

Well, some people take this game to serious, next time remember to not run into a wall, you maybe get hurt...in real life.
