Regarding panning... that too did gradually improve. Only at Spa last sunday I learned to do what I like to call "fast panning" instead of just panning just enough to keep the car in the frame. The best example for that is the picture of the #71 R8 GT3 I posted, easily my favourite photo of them all from that day.
Yeah that R8 shot is amazing! I'd love to be more creative with my panning, but since I don't have that many opportunities to do so, I try to be more conservative so that have more keepers. I think if I have consistent or predictable track access, then I'd definitely experiment more like fast panning.
What other tracks are near you if I may ask?
Here at my university, Watkins Glen is the closest. I think there's also Monticello Motor Club, but that's pretty far and I don't think they have any public events. At home, the closest would be NCM Motorsports Park and maybe Mid-Ohio. There's a small oval track nearby as well where they host some drift events. After I graduate, I'm not sure where I'll be. Maybe LA or San Francisco so maybe I'll go to Long Beach or Willow Springs.

I've also gone to a rally event which was loads of fun. You get to be much closer to the action than a race track

I went to two events last weekend

Trust me, you'll kind of do it automatically. I did it when I simply had no other choice because of the shot I wanted to make, and the cars were so close in one corner.

Sounds cool, just looked up some of the tracks you mentioned. There seem to be quite a few opportunities to get some good photos 👍🏻

I also want to go to a rally once. The problem is, most rallies are quite far away. And since gas prices are at an all time high at the moment...

My old camera died on me, so Ive replaced it with a Sony DSC300 (budget bridge camera). Spent the week learning the button's / settings. Im looking forward to being able to do better macro's and having a broader focal range (the aperture / lens are much larger than on my old compact).

It's a stacked image. 25 exposures of 5 seconds at ISO 6400. The stacking removes the noise
Spotted our neighbor galaxy?
Is andromeda just above the plane streak bottom left? Im excited for the first proper James Webb images apparently June is time for some ultra ultra deep field! Did you happen to capture the Venus / Saturn conjunction recently?

No, I haven't had the time to chase the conjunction. I divide my free time between GT7 and the camera so a cloudy night I am racing.
But I am at latitude 57 so there's no more night photography before fall now.

Edit: yep, that's Andromeda

Brought to mind Paul Ricard circuit walking through the fields this morning, just the right amount of diffused light to get away with this back-lit attempt. I didn't think capturing a light lane in a field was possible lol

The first photos look like a giant chocolate cake with icing. 😋 😁

So Lightroom is being stupid; it won't accept my old presets anymore, and I've given up trying to troubleshoot that problem for now. I was messing around creating new presets, and I believe I have made a preset that gives off Transporter 3 vibes. At least that's what it reminds me of. Let me know if it reminds you of anything else.

Few photos from GT World Challenge at Brands Hatch. Big crowds for some guy called Rossi, so didn't move around much during the races.

Can't get enough of GT3 at the moment, some cracking looking and sounding cars in the class.

Reminds me of the bleach pre-set in the GT7 photo mode, nice subtle tones.
