The dbox or any other moving platform/chair isn't compatible with the PS3/GT5, only with PC.

Also it isn't pneumatic, it has stepper motors. And it doesn't work with Gran Turismo. And it is not very well made. And I've tried it and it is pretty bad and way overpriced.

I disagree, that one would be better as a flight simulator, not driving. I don't think your car makes those kind of movements when lapping your local track.
No no, he's right, that is actually better. The dbox doesn't have enough lift to simulate lifelike forces on your body, this one has. The dbox can hit you quite well, but when you drive through a bend, it can't lean enough to simulate centrifugal force. Same goes for braking and accelerating.

The movements have to be exaggerated to simulate lateral G forces so that cockpit's movements are correct

Exactly! I understand it takes a moment to wrap your head around the idea that such a chair has to make different movements than your car does, but once you've embraced the concept, you will learn that the chair has to be able to lean quite a lot to generate a realistic feeling.

If you were in a room and had no other visual cues for your brain to process, sitting in that seat would, relatively speaking, make you feel like you are in a car, thats how full motion simulators work. Being tilted to the right would actually feel like you are turning right, and being tilted forward or backward would feel like accel or decel. It isn't about if the movements are the same movements a real car makes, it is what your brains perceives those movements to be, if that makes any sense at all.

The second one is, IMO perfect and would simulate the G's very well.......Imagine in a pitch black room, extreme surround and this.....mmmmm sign me up!

Are you saying the hydraulic one works with GT5? Is GT5 putting out that kind of telemetry data? How do you grab that feed?

I've seen a few Youtube videos floating around of guys who have motorised a Joyrider flight sim cockpit for driving sims. Looks very cool for the sort of money involved.

For the amount of money & time invested in rigs of that magnitude, I would rather race a real car for the same amount of money spent & get waaay more graftification then sitting in a room.

Interestingly enough, the x360 and FM3 supports full motion rigs. I wonder why pd and sony chose not to

That rig would be better used as a TIE fighter sim or something.

Not trying to one up or anything but this guys rig makes me so jealous.

I think we have a winner! Wow, what a rig. The one suspended in the air is too much movement for the average person to withstand for 3-4 hours - just not practical.
Okay, THAT is damn cool.
It's a DYI Frex clone 2DOF motion chair.

You can find all the info here: http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/

I don't know whether there is a third party chair out there which works with a PS3 and GT5 by default. I just know the dbox doesn't.

No way dude that's some pure sickage right there, yeah when I saw the Dbox it looked sick but I mean if it's a poor product and doesn't work w/ GT5 then doh! However I'm glad other people are posting other products on here, seriously tho, would be sweet to own the one in this video, when I race I get so sucked into it I almost naturally jerk back by myself haha. Any rigs that are compatible w/ GT5?

Finally, there's something called theKOR-FX that would compliment any rig if you think about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WU6XimZKj3k

No worries, I'm pretty sure gt5 doesn't offer telemetry data, but I'd like to be proven wrong!

OK I love that rig. It is an awesome rig. I think three huge screens is the way to go.

BUT. The hydraulics are all on the seat, aren't they? Isn't that a bit like having a really, really, really, really strong butt kicker? It's not simulating the G-forces on the driver, that same way the other hydraulic rig is.

That guy has three 47" screens so yeah, huge is the way to go.

As far as the movement, it is seat only, which would give you physical feedback for being moved around by acceleration, braking and turning but not as much for producing G forces so to speak. Another thing that would possibly take away from the experience is that since only the seat moves, the screens stay put and don't move with you. That is nit-picky though, at least as far as I am concerned.

No argument, it's a dream setup. You'd need some serious hardware to get those three monitors moving around like the other rig!

I'll take the hydraulic chair to simulate the Gs over multi screen setup any day. The whole reason I want to drive fast is to experience the Gs... if I wanted rumble I can just drive around a parking lot with speed bumps all day.
