Definitely European... Japanese cars are also good though. American cars have too often suspension from 18th century with engines bigger than mount everest and still only 280hp..

They'd be about the same age as your cliched stereotype then eh? Show me a current production performance engine from the US that produces "only" 280hp...

For anyone else banging on about how European cars are fantastic I give you Peugeot's entire range (five hundred flavours of boring anyone?), or just about anything from Alfa Romeo for the last billion years...(Before anyone starts banging on about Alfa having passion and flair may I remind you that they are actually pig-faced portly little under-engineered boxes of average with a robot's pubic mound bolted to the front.)

Woah ease up there, don't go banging on about stereotypes and then blurt that rant out. While I agree that Peugeot's and Alfa's have become quite boring, don't accuse them of being under-engineered. Especially if you are a fan of American cars...

I think the best way to ask this question is what would you prefer based off the average car. Meaning mass produced every day cars because lets face it, that is the only way it is meaningful to most people.

CarerraGT, name one thing that any Peugeot or an Alfa does better than any of its competitors (in any market segment).

According to the current poll result, it looks like that the majority here at GTPlanet is from Europe  (just kidding) ...

I just want to make three small comments why I chose the options American, European and Japanese:

- Since the majority of the cars in GT5 are either from USA, Europe or Japan, it made sense to me to use these three options (and not to include e.g. Australia; Sorry guys from Australia but at least you have great motorbike riders and race drivers like Troy Bayliss, Troy Corser and Mark Webber ;)).

- Since there aren't any Canadian cars in GT5 (as far as I know; Are there any well-known Canadian car manufacturers in real life at all ?), I chose "American" and not "North American" as a continent in comparison with "European". Same for "Japanese" and not "Asian" because there aren't any e.g. Chinese, etc. cars in GT5 (I think there is only Hyundai to represent South Korea).

- I didn't choose "German", "Italian", "British", "French", etc. as options but "European", in order to keep it more simple. Otherwise it's getting too complicated :) ! But I think USA, Europe and Japan are good criteria, in order to do a general comparison based on the "continents".

What about Soviet Era Eastern Bloc cars?

I voted for European cars, I grew up with them, I've worked on them all my life and I drive them every day.
My track car is a Lancia Delta HF Integrale, my everyday car is a peugeot 205 gti, I work in a garage only specialised in Alpine-Renault and Renault-Gordinni.... Yes I'm biased.

This is where I'll politely remind people this discussion was meant to be about in-game, not about real life. For that, we have the Automotive section.

My taste changes every other day or so, and now I've ended up with a pretty diverse garage. I have a broad appreciation for cars, but if it came down to it... if I had to choose between countries, of course it would America.

The Corvette is one of my all time favorite cars, same with the Mustang and Dodge Viper. American cars, especially the sport types, always have interesting histories which always translates to: BIG ENGINE IN FRONT, BIG TIRES IN BACK, U IN MIDDLE. I wish the game would've included the more unknown models like the Mercury Maurader, older Taurus SHOs, and more versions of the classics - more particularly the Mustang. Cars like the Cavalier Z24, Cobalt SS, Cougar, Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, Firebirds all could have a place in the game. If there were more American cars in GT5 - I would easily have a 5:1 ratio in my garage.

Otherwise, I always find UK cars pretty interesting. The Lotus Carlton and Jensen Interceptor have found solid spots in my garage. Lately I've been collecting big fat German luxury sedans.

(I think there is only Hyundai to represent South Korea).

Don't forget Oullim! Although I must confess that the driving qualities of the Spirra are very mediocre for a car with those specs. :indiff:

American before 80's japan's after.

I'm not a fan of european car actually. Some supercar are cool but dont really reflect what they are in real life (F40 is one of them, where' s the huge turbo lag and the uncontrollable machine I've seen on video ?). Some car were masterpiece like the audi quattro, the renault R5 Turbo, some M3's and some others but I really dislike most euro cars.

None of them... I prefer cars from Italy :sly:

Same here. (Italy is in fact in Europe, though, but I know what you meant ;) )

I just love the extraordinary design of Italian cars. My favourite one is the Alfa Romeo Spider Super Veloce, for me it may be the most beautiful car ever. 👍

Well.. guys, let's not confuse the geography challenged Americans even more, shall we? :sly:

Someone tell me you wouldn't love to own all three of these cars...

OK, in real life I wouldn't love to own any of them. The LFA doesn't interest me much, as Lexus is known for luxury, not being sporty. And that front trunk doesn't even look closed.

Been there & done that with the Corvette, too many problems & not enough places to get them fixed. Sad thing is I know a few people that build these cars. Being a Lifetime Member to the National Corvette Museum is good enough for me.

Ferrari used to excite me, but since they've given up on manual transmissions, I've given up on them. I've also heard too many service horror stories & seen way too many pictures of Ferraris at trackdays on fire. I like the 430's looks better than the 458's anyways.

If PD would add Porsches, I'd vote for Germany as my favorite car producing country. My 2007 GT3 is by far, the best car I've ever driven, much less owned.

Mercedes-Benz. It goes beyond performance on the track it becomes part of your soul.

I'd love to see Lada in the game... had some good times in a 2106. (born raised lived the my first 31 years in Canada).

American > Dodge Viper Chevy Corvette -_- Nuff said

European > Ferraris not all the ferraris Just the 430 Enzo and 458 -_-

I Hate japanese Cars -_-

Hahaha, you must not know anything at all about the LFA then :dopey:, and secondly, that is simply impossible and a wrong opinion lol.

How did a Lada find its way to Canada??

European :) Shame there is no Scirocco

I voted for Japan, but only because there are more Japanese cars that I like to drive and that I find easier to drive. For variety, Europe would win. There are virtually no American cars (Ford GT is the exception) that I enjoy driving.

Lexus is more known for luxury, not sport. The hood does look like it doesn't close all the way, yes I know it's purposeful, Porsches look the same. (I happen to like it)

Impossible and a "wrong opinion"

i personally drive a lexus is300 aka altezza irl. ive owned mostly toyotas through out my life. so i might more biased torwards japanese cars although i am american. im not exposed to european cars that much, so i really cant say anything about them except that they look cool ;)

i prefer japanese cars because they are generally practical and reliable. they really understand that a car is made for driving. yet they still leave options for their cars to be fun to drive. i know some of you guys may not understand that.

american cars can be practical, or can be fun, but honestly i dont feel they design them to be both. i like american muscle cars, old and new, yet i would never drive one regularly to work and back, or even on a road trip. instead id rather drive it on the weekends, so i feel like i wouldnt get much value out of it.

Stolen from the set of "Red Dawn" and ended up abandoned across the border?
