I got this idea from a friend of mines shirt. It has a Dodge Charger and a GTO on the back...I sat and wondered who would win...I chose the Charger but w/e.
 
New splits.........trying to keep up with Jetboys (nice run man 👍 ) but I don't think the Chevelle going to be able to do it.........this round :sly:

Okay, board updated for the evening. I spent time on the drag and point-to-point tonight, but I'm goign to try and get my splits down at New York tomorrow.

TCS 0. ASMs 1. 0.143 improvement to T2 👍 , 0.182 improvement on final lap time 👍 👍 .

For all the Cuda drivers out there if you have a customized transmission use it. I also have a semi-racing suspention which helps.

I had some beautiful laps, but go figure I didn't save the replays so I don't have splits. :P
I also had a really awesome lap last week when I took my car to the NY endurance race. I won't give it ALL away but it was a sub 1'46. I wish I'd at least saved the ghost so I could race the ghost for that lap and use it this week, but NOOO. I didn't save it.

Working on perfecting the initial left-hand 100 degree turn and the subsequent right hander.

So whats wrong with the color, its a simple dark blue-gray or gunmetal. They don't have the true Sassy Grass Green. The funny thing is that the Winchester Grey Iridescent is called Light Gunmetal Poly when its on a dodge.

Yeah, I had my tcs on this whole time (and since I have NO upgrades to customize, I never bother to check it) :dunce: :crazy: So now I hit my goal in under 10 laps :sly: . Gonna try to trim another .3 if possible here.

Got a new best lap here one I'm VERY happy with too, I might come back to this b4 Sunday who knows. Seen as how I was hoping to trim .3 here and I ended up trimming a LOT more....I have no idea now where my limit is, possibly this, I hit every corner how I wanted to. Oh and YES having NO TCS does make this kind of difference, FYI. :)

Dammit, now I have to try without TCS, and in this lump of lard, that's not easy.

And my lead foot, of course.
 
Koly, when I broke my arm, I couldn't move my thumb very much because of my cast and thought that I wouldn't be able to play GT4. Well, as we all know, it's hard to stay away from such a great game and eventually I gave it a try. Since I couldn't use my thumb, using the X and Square buttons were out of the question but it turns out the game automatically uses the right analog stick for throttle and braking applications too. It took a little getting used to, but now it's all I use! I say test it on the drag strip so you can work on how it feels, then use it at the track.

EDIT: Forgot you had a DFP! :dunce: Makes me jealous though!

Sweet, at least I'm not the only one with a Cuda OR a Winchester Grey one. Winchester grey is teh darkest color you can get without any white, although I prefer the dark red, I already had one that was fully tuned and didn't want to get confused :nervous:
 
Red, yeah, I have the DFP ... which I would have thought would be easier for throttle control ... but apparently I have a lot to learn in that regard. I tried running without TCS last night, but it's sooooooooo hard and I couldn't get close to my times with TCS set to '1'.

I'm wondering if you lose speed when the TCS light is flickering, and if so would it behoove the driver to try and minimize the TCS kicking in by driving with a lighter foot anyway?

I think gas pedal modulation is crucial, just like in real life. I also, like you, think that when the TCS is flickering that power to the wheels is being modulated to try to avoid wheelspin again "just like in real life".

I was playing with the steering settings in the options menu about a week ago and noticed mine was set to "simulation" so I changed it to "amateur". I was trying to smooth out the "bumps" at the recent WRS high speed ring event. The scrolling instructions at the bottom of the screen said this option was disabled for DFP (I think it is for the older DF wheel). It didn't seem to have any effect (which it shouldn't if it's disabled). I did reduce the FF which seemed to help with all the vibration. At any rate it seems that you have no choice with the DFP --- "simulation" all the way. I wonder if the older wheel might be more forgiving with the amateur setting?

I spent alotta time testing the Camaro SS. I was having trouble driving the thing w/o TCS too (concluded I could'nt do it). I think I was using the Supercharger so I had big HP. The Stingray is much easier to drive w/o TCS (but ASMs 1) and it does make a difference in lap times. The biggest available HP upgrade for the Stingray was NA1 so it probably has less power than the Camaro and therefore is not as much of a handfull w/o TCS. I need to learn to drive it w/o ASMs to be able to compete w/ the big boys. That's seems really really tricky with these high HP RWD cars especially w/o the extra grip of racing tires,
 
Agreed ... some cars can do it, some can't ... but then, that's part of what this series is all about ... learning the cars, their differences and just plain having fun. I admit that it's somewhat frustrating to keep running the exact same splits over and over, but DAYUM it's a whole lot of fun :)
 
Just wait until we get a course where we actually have to turn.. You'll shine brightly, then. :) But, until then, you are toast. I suppose 4(!) Corvettes don't exactly help your cause, either...:lol: But, really, don't worry; you will find your niche.
