American Muscle (Week 1): New York (w/ Results)

If you call 10 seconds behind close then you and koly have a mutual hatred for the Cuda... . My only question... WHY CAN THIS CAR NOT BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THE OTHERS?! The car has 660HP, weighs less than a majority of the cars, but my splits are 8 seconds slower! The only thing that isn't an HP upgrade I could buy that would help me would be a limited slip(the car is fine with normal brakes... the longer it takes this car to lose speed the better)... or nitrous... but nitrous is banned anyway.

I've decided the problem lies in the tranny... which is the cars only real strength, yet it's also the major weakness. gah... so little tuning... so much time... or vice versa... Or it could just be the fact I can't drive. >_<

You didn't say where you spent your HP $. At least not I the post above. The supercharger is the most HP for the least $. However I read somewhere that the supercharger may not be the best HP upgrade for the 'Cuda. I think I tried something else (exhaust? NA? can't really remember) and got it more competitive but still decided on a different (better) ride. Koly cautioned us that the "intuitive" best upgrades may not truly be the best. How much testing were you able to do? If you're not using the supercharger than I've wasted you time. Sorry.

Then I upgraded the cars according to the guidelines and I was w/in .5 seconds in every car(the C3 was still a bit quicker, but I had to stick w/ my original choice-the SS). I was so surprised, and I told Koly in a PM what I found and she said that you were instrumental in the testing and re-testing. Thanks again, cause this series kicks ass and I can't wait to see what unfolds in the upcoming weeks!!!

Oh man Lewie u r more than welcome buddy, I have been really enjoying your comp here and at the wrs and I still believe ur a d1 driver, but I'm no moderator. Plus all the testing was a blast too, Kolyana took them out to NY, I took them to Deep Forest twice (once initially with no upgrades, then again with upgrades) and the same for the strip. We then went back AGAIN to further fine tune the outlying car in our dataplot (i.e. the poor Cuda) and gave it more $ and so on. It was really great to do it and I hope u all enjoy it, I just wish I remembered our rules for the series..... (sorry fastboys!)

This is really good news I'm so glad that you guys are enjoying it so far. Yes, I do think that the Cuda needs all the help it can get, and some tracks are going to favor some cars over others, but I'm really quite happy that a lot of this is coming down to driving and tuning ability.

Personally, I tend to *SUCK* driving the muscle cars ... the way their bodies pitch and roll does not suit my style ... but *GOD* is it so much darn fun!!!!! And that's what this series is meant to be all about, after all

My car is crying for more top speed. I have the slowest T1 by a long way, but one of the faster T1 - T2 splits. Those racing brakes sure help on this track for me!

Yeah, I'm using the supercharger. I got it so I'd get more power in the lower revs so that maybe this car would accel out of the turns better... er actually just accel better.

Yeah, I know what you mean jump. Give me some time to actually try out the car and find out if it's the car or my driving style. I'm like koly, the rolling doesn't suit me, but the cars are to fun to pass up.

EDIT: Heres some T times. T1 isn't that bad, only 3 seconds off, so thats my bad for never really racing on New York.

T1: 33.495
T2: 1'20.143

After looking at times and seeing how I'm driving between T1 and T2, the problem is probably with me and my tranny setup. Might end up sacrificing straightaway speed for acceleration through those 90s.

Dark, it's way too easy on thge New York track to lose so much freaking time in just one or two corners ... and then lose it on every corner. I was running around a 1'16 for T2, until I suddenly 'found' 0.8 on just a couple of corners just before the split. Handling of these cars and learning how to keep their momentum is everything ... keep at it man, I'mn sure you can improve those splits and 'find' your groove.

So why am I posting this? Because my final lap time is the best I've seen by about .08 👍 👍 👍 . It was so amazing eating up my ghost down the final stretch to the finish line!!! I got the TCS 0 about licked. Now if I can get that 0.349 back through T2 (and crush the final sector) that would be an amazing lap!!!! I wonder if I can drive this thing with ASM 0. I've tried a little (in testing) w/o sucess but maybe I haven't tried hard enough...can you say finesse?

yes, good run, although it's not just about winning ... we'll be scoring points for positions, so simply having a solid result each week will add up for sure.
