Thanks to kennythebomb for supplying this weeks' picture

For the third week of the American Muscle Championship, we leave the city streets and head for the infamous corkscrew circuit of 'Laguna Seca'. How will these ponderous battleships handle the sharp elevation changes or fast sweeping corners?

Track :
Laguna Seca / Hotlap

Rules:
Use the car and setup you have opted for, following the rules outlined in the AMC Thread.

Discuss only T-times.
Clean OLR Standards:
No wall touching.
The enitire course is considered part of the track; sidewalks, rumble strips and all (just stay off the walls).
No hybrids
No Cheating of any kind

Time Submission:
Send your time via PM to me, including splits and final run.

Submit the time listed in replay file name by 11:59 AM (PST) October Sunday 2nd. You may run as often or as little as you like; you've got the full week to perfect your setup and gain the fastest single lap that you can.

Although I'd prefer it if drivers didn't re-send multiple times (it may cause a mix up with what is considered your final and fastest run), this is only a loose rule ... you can submit more than once before the deadline, just try not to bury me :p

Luxy has kindly allowed us a little webspace for tracking splits (as per the Luxy Leaderboard used in the WRS):
American Muscle @ Laguna Seca(Unofficial Leaderboard)

Personally speaking, Laguna Seca and next week's Infineon are my weakest tracks by far ... especially with muscle cars :(

Awesome photo....you're just teasin' me with that Shelby aren't you?

I love these next 2 tracks. Maybe because they're real world circuits. I only wish they were in the 2nd 1/2 of the season so I could compete in the Shelby on them.

Lack of suspention equals I am going to die. :banghead:

T1 - 24.613
T2 - 47.852
T3 - 1'12.623

Hey, the Chevelle has to have the lead sometime, right?

We can live in hope! Personally, I hope that battleship of yours runs aground at the top of the corkscrew.

Hey guys & gals. I want to switch to the Shelby now instead of waiting till halftime in the series....any objections? Right now I'm driving the '69 Vette. I'm not even sure if anybody else is driving it (Shelby). And if that's not almost reason enough to change...I was on the fence about what car to choose and the Shelby wasn't as good as the Vette (at least with me behind the wheel)...so I don't think you guys at the top of the leaderboard have to worry about me. So let me know if you think it's OK. This series needs a little pony action. 4 '69 Vettes no Fords????

Okay by me.

Personally, I have no objection to allowing drivers to switch cars at this point if they wish ... I'm not sure I'd want to get into it every week, but maybe we could entertain every two weeks rather than the half way mark?

I'm also open to giving the Shelby some non-HP$ money effective immediately, depending on feedback received.

I don't object to that, goixoye.

And just for that comment, Koly, you are soooo going down. :trouble:

The only way I can be "going down" is if that hunk of junk of your grinds to a halt at the corkscrew and I can't get past.

Yellow '69 (C3) Vette at Laguna Seca:

T1 - :23.212
T2 - :45.632
T3 - 1:09.005

Still looking for another .3 or so if I can manage it, although this lap felt pretty smooth in all but 2 turns; the turn b4 T2 and the last turn, they were 'okay' not horrible but being the perfectionist that I am....lol.

Now that is INTERESTING!!! Kinda sux as I have most of my laps accounted for in my Vette, but I'll give the Cuda a go or maybe the 440R/T or maybe.....So how about we split up the Nurb and Drag at the 4 week mark and then do another 4 week chunk of them both on a new leaderboard? Yes, No?

Don't split it ... just record the best times per driver and the car they got it in.

After a few dozen laps

T1 24.061

T2 47.032

T3 1'11.651

Shelby

Oil=326HP, Ratio: 3.888
Racing Flywheel
S3 Tires

I'll save the rest for now

T1: 25.209
T2: 49.551
T3: 1'15.046 I'm not sandbagging, but this was only after 5 laps.

If you folks have any nads you'd let me have NA1, bumps to 365HP, Ratio: 3.474. That's still probably a higher ratio than the Vette, NA1 + Wt1 = 3.419. I promise I'll stay away from the weight redution. The guy with higher HP with the same ratio has the advantage, you all know that. Give me a fighting chance. Do you really want me to saying you beat me just because you have more HP? I've tested at that level and still can't beat my times in the Vette. Come on what do you girls say. Lets make this interesting. You're better drivers than I am anyway.

Glad you like it. I also run a photo gallery, link in sig :)

I'm okay with you becoming more competitive ... if I don't get booted for being a "revolutionary" in the process? I'm all for bringing the bottom up while keeping the top close to where they are.

I don't agree with the relevance in knowing final times, big whoop. Personally I think the current rule is flamingly gay.

My first runs at this.

T1 - 24.260
T2 - 47.212
T3 - 1'11.552

I don't object to either change. My plan was that I'm going from the Cuda to the.....*drumroll* Cuda... :dopey: So sue me, I'm sticking by my original choice and all I'm doing changing what parts I'm putting on it. And this time, no Winchester Grey, this time, it's Curious Yellow(Which isn't really yellow it's more of a fluorescent green...)

So it doesn't matter to me when Koly allows the car changes. I'm sticking by my Cuda even if I'm not that good with it.

I'm sticking with the Cuda as well. It's my favorite car and I like a challenge. It’s going to be the same Winchester Grey. I do have a question, when can we use the money we won from the first two races?

Vette splits
T1: 24.186
T2: 47.010
T3: 1'11.062

Shelby Splits
T1: 24.794
T2: 48.878
T3: 1'13.719

When do you think I can expect a decision on whether or not you will allow me to switch to the Shelby?

Okay, I'm going to allow ONE car car during the season, and it's up to you when you do it ... you can't do it every week, but you don't have to wait until week #4.

I have not decided on Shelby funds just yet, so you may want to wait until I have.

You'll all be happy to hear my PS2 is still broken.... I'm still torqued that I can't fix even though it appears to be fine save for the fact that it keeps jamming and the disc tray still won't settle into place properly. *sigh* Such an awesome competition, too. :P

Looks like you folks are having fun though. Good luck to you folks!
