Okay, I'm going to allow ONE car car during the season, and it's up to you when you do it ... you can't do it every week, but you don't have to wait until week #4.

I have not decided on Shelby funds just yet, so you may want to wait until I have.
Great :D, Thank you. Put me down for the Shelby, Oil, Racing Flywheel and S3's. If I put the rest of the money into the car now am I stuck with those parts or when (if) you adjust the Shelby funds could I swap parts...just once of course?

Just did my first run at the track and after about 15 minutes these are my times
T1 24.449
T2 48.529
T3 1:13.178
Not THAT bad but room for improvement.

Is it too late to join in this competition?

Come on in! Welcome dude!

Personally speaking, Laguna Seca and next week's Infineon are my weakest tracks by far ... especially with muscle cars :(

I basically had to learn Seattle reverse, but Laguna is very easy - it's my testing track since GT3.

Edit - wow Jerome you are going to rape me in the posterior this week. I don't have any time (duh) and my car doesn't seem to be going as fast as yours. This is an easy track to master, I know the perfect racing line, and I am nowhere near you like I usually am.

Shelby in racing trim (for comparison sake)

Oil
S3's
Racing Flywheel
Twin Clutch
Wt Reduction 1

This, I think is the best set-up with the amount of money currently allowed. It leaves $1,250 on the table but I can't figure out how to use it....no wing option for the Shelby :grumpy: .

This is such an awesome ride...put together by a man named Carroll...unbelievable. Maybe I should change my name to Leslie of Kim. I wonder if that would make me a better driver.

T1: 24.604
T2: 48.026
T3: 1'12.478

This may not necessarily be competitive with the 69 Vettes but it seems to be competitive with the rest of the field...at least early in the week. I **MIGHT** be able to get T3 to 1'11.??? So maybe the the Shelby shouldn't get additional money unless the rest of the field does too? Maybe we should wait and see how things play out during the week. I'll see how low I can go with this set up.

If I could just get the wookie to fix the hyperdrive, part of the problem was a hairball (go figure)....he say's we're done unless I can find him a flux capacitor...which really makes things tricky around 88 mph....I'm off to Tatooine in search of parts...or could I rob one off the Delorean?

Yeah and I sat down with her last night again just before bed and I am about .5 ahead of my ghost in the first part of the lap, I am just having troulbe nailing the turn b4 T2 and the turn just b4 T3. Once I nail those I SHOULD be hitting around 1:08.7 or so I'm hoping. But we'll see man. For the WRS when we went here in the Vipers and GT's I pretty much got kinda worked, I got like 6th place or something in my Div, but man did I learn a LOT I think I trimmed like 2 whole seconds AFTER I found my driving line, good times! Generally, atleast in my car I find that I can't DRIVE this track I have to DRIFT this track around corners and concentrate on minimizing that wheel spin. If I do that my times drop a TON! That and late braking helps too, for me atleast.

You'll all be happy to hear my PS2 is still broken.... I'm still torqued that I can't fix even though it appears to be fine save for the fact that it keeps jamming and the disc tray still won't settle into place properly. *sigh* Such an awesome competition, too. :P

Looks like you folks are having fun though. Good luck to you folks!

Man, that's a bummer. Who knows, maybe in the future they'll be another Muscle series, taking what we've learned here and moving it forward. That's a real odd problem ... I guess fixing it outside of a warranty would cost a damned fortune, but I wonder if you could send it to someone that does the 'fixes' (you know, the chips and such) and have them fix it?

Board updated.

I haven't run myself yet, but I'll take her for a spin tonight.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you are changing your car for *THIS* race (and beyond, obviously), don't just post it here, PM me the 'shopping list' ... I get a lot of PMs and I have to read a lot of threads (I update the WRS leaderboard, also), so stuff can be missed ... when you post splits, mention your *new* car, but also PM me ... that way I can be sure not to miss it.

Right now the leaderboard includes (perhaps) some times with old/previous cars, but I'll remove these as soon as drivers switch vehicles and let me know about it.

Sure! As soon as someone donates 50 dollars to pay for the repairs.... lol Though I do know some folks at a local game shop pretty well. Not sure if they'd do it discounted, but it might be worth a shot. Unless anyone else here has an idea of what's wrong and how to fix it.

Can you give me a little more info about your problem and maybe post some pics of the problem. It sounds like a problem that I had so I might be able to help you.

Took the newly parted Cuda out for a spin to put up some splits, and I must say, I now love this car.

T1: 24.921
T2: 48.666
T3: 1'13.446

*OUCH* I'm deadlast!!! hahahahaha.

I have no idea what I'm doing on this track, still learning the lines and such, but I wanted to throw a time up there, so the leaderboard is updated.

I'm probably going to change out all the parts on my car this week (this will be my car switch) and I'll post the shopping list when I make my final decision. Not going to do this yet, though, want to get those damned lines down first!

I've been playin' with the parts on my Shelby all night. With the additional money I improved my final lap time by 1.024s. I had a time that was 1.743s better, then I added up the parts cost and realized I was $50 over budget so it was disqualifed :grumpy:

T1: 24.257
T2: 47.530
T3: 1'11.573 (I'm still getting hammered but this time is only 0.5s slower than my Vette time...and there's still time for improvement)

I'm still working to find the best parts combo so when I submit my final time I'll submit my final parts list too...I'll need to check the rest of the courses in the series too because this is my last shot to make adjustments.

This might just be the most fun I've had playin' GT4.

PERFECT! That makes me really happy ... things like that make the entire series worthwhile :)

PD sux. I think the Shelby may be the best sounding car in the game. It really sounds like a muscle car. It's great to have some additional HP for the Shelby 👍 ...but adding the exhausts make it sound horrible 👎 ....maybe in GT5 PD should let us pick our own engine sounds.

You may want to go ahead and "build" your car before you get too deep into learning the course. I found that even though the line is the same all the braking points change (some more than others). So far I've only shaved about 1s off my time but it took several laps just to figure out how to drive the course with my new stuff. Thats what makes testing so intense...you (at least I do) have to put in 5 to 10 laps with any given set-up before you can really effectively begin "attacking" the course. Once you get it figured out it's a pretty cool feeling to beat your ghost on multiple consequtive laps...then it gets a little frustrating when you get close to your limit.

*sigh* Ditched the Bird, got some runs in on the Charger...

T1: 23.887
T2: 46.580
T3: 1'10.014

Now, that's before the upgrades Koly has set up for the car (which I have yet to view.), but, even then, it's still over 3 seconds off the bird in T3 alone....

Hey Kolyana have you ever considered doing something like this again, but with the more recent American cars?

Actually i was hoping she would run a "Muscle:Unlimited Series" with a stock Buick Special, fully tuned versions of all cars, and the Shelby Cobra with a FC Tranny. I think it would be a little better, as there are not too many American vehicles in the same niche...

"Muscle: Unlimited" would be kinda cool, yes ... a half decent theme there. I'd have to do some extensive testing, ofcourse, and would probably like to drag a few of you into that to ensure an even field as possible when things kicked off.

I would imagine that a few classics might have to be dropped, and perhaps a couple here should not feature in such a future series, but we could all discuss and agree on that.

Yes, I'd be open to it.

What ever you need just ask! I'd be glad to help. :)

Great idea Jetboys 👍 👍

Board updated; good to see the Hemi's breathing down the C3's neck :)

Sweet! My idea actually went well. :)👍 I have been wanting to mess with my blown GTO for a while, now... Racing tires? Please?

Well, when we hit that time I'm sure we can discuss it in greater depth, but probably :)

BTW, hate to be picky Koly, but I have the 440 R/T...
