Jaguar XJ Supercharged. Great driving experience, gorgeous inside and out, and very luxurious. Not as techy as its German rivals, but better to drive, nicer to look at and be in, and much cooler.

Or, if the buyer is feeling adventurous, Tesla Model S P85. Also very fast and attractive, plus it's electric so it's quiet and full of advanced technology. Perhaps not as luxurious as the Jag, but an excellent car.

Way to end the thread in the very first response.

Yeah, I like @Beeblebrox237's response. I'd even prefer the Tesla if long distances aren't going to be a common thing for the car, or it's close enough to Tesla's Supercharger system to allow for them.

If sporty Germans are your thing, @Doog is on to something with the 6GC. Not worth the massive price difference over the equivalent 5'er, and still a bit pig-nosed, but the interior is gorgeous, and the car itself oozes quality.

416hp at the disposal of your right foot at all times. This glorified golf-cart will beat your supercharged Jag to 60.

The $100,000 ceiling is just high enough above the P85 model to buy you some of the nice optional extras.

Also, two trunks.

Lots of high quality automobiles out there, but the USDM requirement pretty much limits itself to the Tesla as the best car, & the CTS-V as the runner up.

CTS-V. All day.

Drop the word "Luxury" and I'd go for a new Charger.

The interior's a bit tight (something I also found in the similarly-shaped CLS), but the build quality is about the best I've experienced in a car, right up there with the LS460 and Quattroporte. Everything inside the cabin has a quality feel; everything opens and shuts smoothly and quietly without that dreaded plastic 'click'. It even has reassuringly heavy doors that close with a whump, which I've grown to prefer in a car. If it was just a bit roomier (at 5'8, I'm not used to feeling big inside a car) and had better visibility (I could do with a larger greenhouse if it didn't compromise the styling too much), it'd be ideal.

I'd take the new BMW M3 (apparently dubbed F80, not F30), with the DCT if two pedals are a must. It's still a $60k+ BMW with four doors and an "automatic," but with that inline six soundtrack and only about 3350lbs. to whip around, it would also suit me as a driver's car. I'll pass on anything larger or heavier.

Range Rover, ideally with the V8 diesel, but if not available in the US, the supercharged V6 petrol.

More bage credibility and presence than anything under $100k, spacious and stunning interiors, 4WD for all year round usability, excellent ride quality.

You typed it out so I didn't have to.

Having driven a CTS-V wagon, there's a reason it's cheaper. That interior trim is pretty flimsy.

Haven't driven one, but have been in a couple at auto shows, etc. It wasn't bad inside.

My choice remains the same.

I looked USDM up on wikipedia:

wikipedia
The term United States domestic market (USDM) is a term used chiefly by automotive enthusiasts to describe the United States' economic market for American-brand automobiles and parts. A similar automotive enthusiast term, Japan Domestic Market (JDM) is used to designate Japanese-market automobiles and parts.

The term is also applied to vehicles that comply with United States regulations, most notably the lights and bumpers, which differ from European standards. The incompatibility requires manufacturers to develop USD and EDM versions of their models if they want to sell them in both regions.

Which one was intended?

Meant as available to consumers buying from the US market, not exclusive to US manufacturers. The domestic part was used due to the fact many Americans buying at this price can afford to actually go to europe and buy there rather than rely on soley what is imported.

May just want to go with the new S550. If you want something smaller and faster, E63 Wagon

I'm not really sure which route you're going for, though. A huge luxury 4 door or medium-sized? Does it matter if it's fast?

Don't waste money on anything other than a Lexus GS. German sedans are obviously better, but far more overpriced than the Lexus line up and no where near as reliable.

There, my suggestions were typed in the first response.

In this price range everything should be fast (relatively speaking).
As for full size for mid-size... Not really an issue regarding outer dimensions but interior space is an issue (larger is better).

Btw, thanks all for the input, some interesting suggestions going up for sure. 👍

@Beeblebrox237 summed it up in the first post.

I'd probably get the Jag over the Tesla because there isn't a supercharger network in Atlantic Canada, there aren't any plans to build one, and to get anywhere from Halifax is a long drive. Granted, I could always have a beater gas car but I feel that's outside the spirit of the thread.

If I were living in the Windsor-Quebec City corridor, I'd take the Tesla without a second thought.

Of the above, M3 or Jaaaaaaaag. The Tesla may be nice, but until they establish quick charge stations in short order or, the better option, figure out an alternative to batteries, it wouldn't really be worth it.

My pick- BMW M5. MSRP of about $92,000 US.
