.Boss429. : Just by reading it is hard to get. If you actually do it an follow the instructions it is really easy as the instructions are very good explained.

Thanks, I kind of figured it looked harder than it was. I think I will do like you said a wait till more people try it. Seems one guy is having some issues of loosing settings for s2 to s5.

I did the update of the CSP 2 weeks ago. Really easy. I recommend also using a XP 32 bit to do the update.

yes i read that.
Waiting to see others update and maybe a answer of thomas.
I also need to finally suscribe to the 911 forum. I'm so lazy :D

Thomas: Now that the 678 is out and in Beta, does that mean that the 669UE is out of Beta status?
How long does it take to get out of Beta status?

Finally did it.

For the CSP the firmware is only necessary if you encounter a problem with the pedals or if you want to add a deadzone, i think

True their word fanatec are shipped out my gt3rs & clubsport pedals yesterday! Really excited about this wheel after all the reviews. Just thought I'd randomly share my excitement! Lol

Hello everyone, I am migrating from DFP to GT3 RS +CSP ,tuning kit and both shifters (a giant leap!) right now I am not using a racing rig but planning on building one and I need to know if there is a need to buy/fabricate a shifter stand or does the steel bars included are sturdy enough?

Also, do I need the Fanatec adjustable wheel stand in order to attach the wheel to any surface shape or material?

Would appreciate if someone can help me in my decision.

Thanks,

Abdul

People have mixed opinions about the steel bars for mounting the shifter. I didn't buy the extra shifter holder and am satisfied with those metal bars. I don't think it's worth spending any extra money on the optional holder. That said, I've heard people say they really dislike those metal bars, so it's hard to give a good answer.

Yeah... they get the job done, it's that shifter cable I am eager to replace :grumpy:

But I also want an authentic experience where the shifter is down by my knees.

If you have a cockpit, and you want the shifter in a more realistic position, the Fanatec Rennsport Wheelstand Shifter Adapter (quite a mouthfull) is the best option. Rock solid. Easy to attach. More direct feel when shifting (as opposed to the "chop-sticks").

;)

Does that mean Rennsport shifter adapter can be installed/attached to any home made cockpit/other companies cockpits? or some kind of fabrication is needed.
BTW, I drive standard and thought that some cars on GT5 will be much realistic and fun to use stick for especially the NSX!

The shifter adapter attaches with two 6mm screws. So, you can drill two holes in whatever you want to attach it to, and you're good to go. I even used the included hardware to attach it to my rig.

;)

Delphic - Are you still planning on doing a comparison between the Fanatec and Logitech wheels? Your review of the Carrera wheel and the Rennsport wheelstand was good, and I'd also like to see your take on the GT3RS vs. G27.

I owned the obutto cockpit and used to own an NSX...you can actually position the shifter almost the same position as a real NSX....not exactly but close.

I just got my 911 GT3RS V2, but how come the outside box it came with says 911 GT3RS V1.5?

Did I get the correct wheel?

is there even a V1.5?

Absolutely.

All the testing is finished, and they've all been put through the weighted rating scale. Just finishing up my writeup. It's taking a bit longer than expected due to a heavy workload and other outside factors.

Thanks for the reply, and for doing the reviews. The reviews and this thread are the reasons I started looking at the Fanatec wheels. Take as much time as you need - looks like we all have a few more weeks to prepare for GT5.

@ Fanatec (Thomas):

Would be great if you could go into my questions!

Regarding my second question: Did the new firmware update resolve the problem of the ABS feature and the two additional rumble motors not working together?

We nearly finished our first part of our review (wheel shootout). The only wheel we were missing was the new Fanatec Carrera wheel, which seems to be a very nice wheel especially when having a look on the price-performance! Maybe we get a chance to have a look on it in the near future ...

@ Thomas from Fanatec:

Hope you are reading this …!? My brother and I are currently working on a small Review of 4 different wheels (Logitech/Fanatec) including the two Fanatec wheels Porsche Turbo and Porsche GT3RS v2 all mounted on the Fanatec Rennsport cockpit, where we also want to have a closer look on. Regarding the new GT3RS v2, which I got 2 weeks ago, I have some questions:

- We noticed a bigger difference between the GT3RS and the old Turbo wheel in how they feel in a race situation. The new GT3RS is a lot quieter and even smoother than the old Turbo wheel. Are there any general adjustments/improvements you made in the last 2 years on the wheels? Unfortunately we also noticed that on the new GT3RS the belt drive does not work totaly smooth near the center. Especially when steering to the right we can feel there a small resistance.

- The adjustability direct on the wheel is amazing, especially on the new GT3RS. But currently we are not able to activate both the ABS feature and the rumble feature of the two additional FFB motors to work simultaneous. Is this a known bug? During our wheel comparison we also had the feeling that the rumble effect of the two additional FFB motors (not the main FFB motor!) was much more intensive on the old Turbo wheel than on the new GT3RS. Did you changed something in the construction here?

These are only small things we noticed in our Review tests until now. All in all the new GT3RS v2 seems a really improvement to the old Turbo wheel.

The final Review will probably take another 2-4 weeks because for our final resume we still need to test all wheels a little bit longer and finally the whole thing has to be written in English, which is not one of my big strengths ;) (I’m from Augsburg/Germany).

Best regards
Sebastian

Hi Souldfire
1. We made a lot of smaller improvements between the PWT and the PWGT3RS V2. In fact there is a small change in almost every production batch as we are continiously imporving the wheels. It can happen that you can feel a small dent around the center position if the wheel was not used for a long time and the belt got deformed. This will go away after several days/weeks of gameplay.
The resistance to the right is only noticable when the wheel is not in the game. It is some electrical resistance and will not be noticable during gameplay.

I never heard that the motors do not work simultaneously and we need to check that. The vibration on the PWT is more intensive as the wheel rim is hollow and allows to shake better. The more solid you make the products the less vibration you will feel.

I can send you a PWC for review if you contact me by PM in my blog.

Our manuafacturer calls it V1.5 as we are still using the giftbox of V1 until it is used up. The wheel is 100% V2

It seems that clutch does not work in Prologue.. i have Carrera. Any suggestions?

It does, as soon as you start a race, press triangle, I leave it in the middle shifter position to see if it works, if it does, it'll go into neutral (make sure your shifter is plugged in though as I've had problems with it popping out.

Anyone have any luck installing the new Firmware (678) on a Windows 64 system?

I had no problems with the last update (669UE), although that was done on Vista.

I'm having the hardest time getting the USB drivers installed. I go to the device manager, find the USB's listed under "Human Interface Devices". Yet, I can't seem to get them to Update. No matter what I do, Windows tells me the driver is up to date, and won't install the new driver.

Any ideas?

;)

I am also having trouble with the update. I can get the bootloader to do the pw1 file but it will not let me start the pw2.

I can't even get past PW1, because the USB driver is not installed.

I didn't have any trouble with the last update on my Vista PC. Just followed the steps in the guide, and that was that...

Anyone have any suggestions for installing the USB drivers manually in Windows 7?

;)

Uninstall the drivers that Windows installed and then install the wheel's drivers. The quick guide for my wheel clearly said to install the usb drivers from fanatec's website before you plug it in.
