Another time trial ruined by that damn 2J race car

Here I was thinking that 550 pp time trial at Tsukuba would be pretty awesome. It may feel like a proper time attack event, but only to be ruined by the fact that unless you use a 2J race car running comfort soft tires you won't make it into the rankings list. I'm over seeing the 2J covering time trial leader boards, anyone else out there want to see a mixture of different cars make up a leader board?

I totally agree with you, 2muchredbull!! I not a fan of the 2J domination in tt's. For me, half the fun of a time trial is weeding out the best car for the job. I see no attraction in grinding out 80 laps in a 2J with a tune I jacked from the forum. I'd rather tune 4 different vehicles capable of a top 3000 lap time than place 250th in a 2J.

I find the 'buzz' of these TTs is to see how far you can get up the leaderboards and the satisfaction that comes with that.
It is a bit of a 'bummer' to have 1 or 2 cars that dominate but until PD gets more specific with the cars that can be selected, thats the the way it 'pans' out I'm afraid.

Agree ^^

@2muchredbull, Create a feedback proposal, and hope others agree and vote for it.

Seasonal TT's should have Car Provided

I agree with all of you. 👍 I don't hate the 2J and I seldom use it except for TT's, where it's the car of choice. Online, my friends ban it's use. 👎

It sucks when you KNOW before you look at the leader board of most TTs that it will be

2J
2J
2J
2J
2J
2J
2J
2J
2J
2J
2J
2J

I'm curious..........what % of TT's have been dominated by the 2J this year? It seems like it's been less than half (not too bad?). I'll check when I get home from work tonight.

Ya, but it's becoming a bit much now. I still say we need a few TT's with a specific car, no tuning. TOTALLY level playing fields...

How is it not level? Everyone has the ability of getting this car, and the tunes are here for all to see, or you can tweak it to what your driving style is, seems TOTALLY fair to me.

Yeah, not bad unless you consider that there are over 1,000 cars in the game.

It wouldn't be so annoying if you could sort by car in the results so you could see how you stack against others that don't want to use the *%&$# 2J any more.

HINT PD!!!!!

Yes it's fair that everybody can use the same car for every TT. Yes it's boring that everybody MUST use the same car for every TT if they want to be competitive.

That's the cool thing about this game though, you can play anyway you want, you can set up mini tournaments with your friend list, with any stipulation you choose.

Complete Non-sequitur.

We all know you can do "mini" events with your friends list. This discussion isn't remotely related to that.

This discussion is about the seasonal TTs that EVERYBODY can do.

The point is that there are so many possible combinations of cars and tracks that it makes no sense to let the same car dominate over and over and over and over...

You're right, another complaining thread, great, good luck with that bro.

No. The point is that it's another week and another TT, so another clockwork thread complaining because the OP doesn't want to use the best car for the event for no other reason than he's sick of seeing it.

I assume you don't see the irony of posting a complaint complaining about complainers... I'm guessing for no other reason than you're "sick of seeing it"...?

BAM! :D

No. I'm not sick of seeing it at all. If anything I find it to be entertaining that people are complaining because others are using whatever car is best suited to setting fast lap times to set fast lap times. I'm actually just commenting on the phenomenon because I find it notable how short-sighted it all is. Every one of these threads can basically be boiled down to two things:

"I'm sick of seeing the 2J used in Time Trial events." Cool. What of it.

"They should ban it." Okay. So PD goes out of their way to ban it. Then the leaderboards for lower PP events get absolutely loaded with R390 GT1 road cars (higher events go strictly to detuned Audi R8s). And you're right back to square one, because there will always be some car that is just inherently better at this type of thing, and it's simply a matter of giving people time to run down the list to find it.

With the alternative argument being:

"I'm sick of seeing the 2J used in Time Trial events." Cool. What of it.

"They should supply the cars." Okay. So PD goes out of their way and supplies the cars for all future TT Seasonals. The people who like driving whatever and don't care about their placement get annoyed because they can't do that anymore. The people who like tuning cars for Seasonals get annoyed because they also can't do that anymore. And rather than being loaded with certain cars near the top, the entire leaderboards are the same car making the original argument about lack of diversity moot.

If there is anything I complain about it is people that complain about complainers that are complaining about complainers in complain threads.

In before, people complain to me about how they were not complaining in the first place. :P

Too many people take the fun out of it by trying to get the best time with the least challenge, top times are always 2J, R390 road car or some other ringer car that can post times without too much effort. I enjoy challenges and like to run street cars or cars under the pp limit, but will never get a top 1000 time if people keep cheating themselves out of a challeng and oportunity to hone their skills.

You conveniently ignore the third "thing".

That PD could put a few seconds thought into the rules for TTs to see that different cars will be competitive each week.

There are some great examples like the American TT. How many people had never driven the Shelby before that? That event was a total win. I was barely able to break into the top 500 but I had FUN with it. It wouldn't be as fun if it was the same car again next week.

There are almost limitless combinations available. If the car and track don't matter then maybe GT should only have 1 car and 1 track from now on. Sure, some people would complain but they'd just be missing the point.

If there is anything I complain about it is people that complain about complainers that are complaining about complainers in complain threads.

I think I just had a mini-stroke reading that...

Even if they ban the 2J from the seasonal TTs everyone will just use the next best car and then people will be complaining about that car.

100% agree. It's like the endurance races. You could try honing your skills by using a competitive car, or you could stomp the opposition with an X2010 for an easy win.

Sadly, people prefer to do the latter. Why bother tuning a car and struggling for a top time when you can whip out your 2J for an easy million credits?

People tend to take the path of least resistance. That's just the way it is, unfortunately.

P.S. Check this out:

2J broke down at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed. If this were real life, we wouldn't have to worry about it dominating races. They wouldn't even be able to get it out of the pits.

Frankly, it seems to me that PD has addressed the 2J phenonenomnomnom but from this standpoint: Let's give them a 650PP event with sports hard tires with only British Cars, DONE. Hence, the MClaren F1 '94 seems to be the car of choice on that track at that PP with Sports Hard tires. It's all about perspective. From that perspective, they're trying to please more people. Abraham Lincoln once said: You can please some of the people all the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time.

His original quote is this but the concept applies. ;)
"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time"

Soon we will all use the Kübelwagon for every time trial, after the others have been removed/banned and everyone agrees not to cheat themselves.

There should be a Gran Turismo Time Trial Crimes Tribunal.
Penalty: Death

Ive never driven a 2J. But i would like to see a time trial for Jgtc cars or nascar.

I had great fun before the gta preping in a shell/penznoil skyline then we got a road car wtf?????????

is the 2j a ground effect car that why its so fast??????????
