Another time trial ruined by that damn 2J race car

Soon we will all use the Kübelwagon for every time trial, after the others have been removed/banned and everyone agrees not to cheat themselves.

There should be a Gran Turismo Time Trial Crimes Tribunal.
Penalty: Death

Is the community service running laps? If so, how many laps and which car will be used and on which track?

Even if they ban the 2J from the seasonal TTs everyone will just use the next best car and then people will be complaining about that car.

That statement is demonstrably false.

The F1 is totally dominating the British TT. Where are the threads complaining about it?

No complaints because people understand that there will always be a fastest car in every TT. Don't make the mistake of assuming that we who are tired of the 2J will automatically hate all dominant cars.

Give people a little credit, even if you don't agree with their position.

Because you don't agree with somebody's position it isn't necessary to treat them as invalid or stupid.

There are over 1,000 cars in GT because people like variety. We only want to see more of them being used. No need to ban anything. Just set some restrictions that allow different cars to be competitive.

You conveniently ignore the third "thing".
I didn't conveniently ignore anything. I said as much right here in the last thread about this. The problem is that the people who start these complaint threads don't want events that exclude large swaths of vehicles they could choose from, because the car they want to use might not be useable. They generally don't even want any structure at all beyond PP and tire limits. They want to see specific cars excluded from events purely because they are sick of seeing them (hence why this thread was made specifically bitching about the Chaparral 2J rather than the event itself).

So, yes, something like a German car TT would perfectly work at getting rid of the 2Js and R390s and NSX LMs and GT-R Black Editions. And it would be nice to have PD put more thought into the TTs than throwing darts at a wall. But when people are going so far as to say that they hate the 2J so much that it shouldn't even be allowed to be used with certain types of tires offline in GT Life because they hate how it ends up in Seasonals, it tells me that the issue isn't because they want changes to the structure. It tells me that they just don't want to use the cars the fastest people are commonly using, and they don't want those people to be able to use them either.

Funnily enough, when I saw these latest Time Trial Seasonals, my first thought wasn't of anger at the 2J (which I happen to love driving), it was more "You lazy *&*%£* PD muppets... Tsukuba and a reverse version of the circuit we've just used on the previous one?!"

I guess if your crimes aren't too severe the penalty may be..?

Run the 24 hours of Nurburgring 5 times in a 2J without rest,
then delete your save data and smash your ps3.

The punishment should fit the severity of the crime.

Oh ok 👍

I don't think I've seen anybody go that far, but I completely reject that attitude.

I will say it would be good if PD would adjust the PP of the 2J to make it more even with other cars. Not make the car slower. Just adjust the PP up so that it more accurately reflects it's performance.

Oh ok 👍

You'll be at the top of the leader board no matter what car is dominant anyway, so maybe it's you that should be banned instead of the 2J.

Sorry to say, I did use my 2J on latest TT. Didnt really want too, thought if cannt beat them, join them. Wish i didnt. As it is annoying seeing TTs being dominated by that horrrible little car.

Try to beat my time in some other of my cars but couldnt.

I did go Goodwood last year well past few years. Did see the 2J, just look like a washing machine with couple of vans sticking out the back :/

I've run some of these "fastest people" in online rooms, without their racing tires and 2J they are on a level field with normal people. Personally i don't care what people run or if i ever get the top time, but i think its a shame people don't challenge themselves. Since you can never make everyone happy and this is just a game people need to learn to say meh and just have fun.

Too many people take the fun out of it by trying to get the best time with the least challenge, top times are always 2J, R390 road car or some other ringer car that can post times without too much effort. I enjoy challenges and like to run street cars or cars under the pp limit, but will never get a top 1000 time if people keep cheating themselves out of a challeng and oportunity to hone their skills.

I think honing your skills in similar machinery to some of the best players in the world is a bit of a challenge. You don't really have anything to aim for apart from the gold time if you use a car which is significantly slower than the top car for the job. Unless you are first on a time trial then you can't say you aren't being challenged.

It's always possible to win gold with other cars, which I do. For this TT I used the Cusco Subaru.

If I could sort by car in the results I'd never complain about the 2J again because I wouldn't even see it.

That would seem to be the best solution. People could run what they want and compare against others running the same car.

Here I was thinking that Witch trial at Salem would be pretty awesome. It may feel like a proper hate event, but only to be ruined by the fact that unless you have a flaming torch you won't make it into the front row. I'm over seeing the witches burning at the stakes, anyone else out there want to see a mixture of different things persecuted?

If you don't have a 2J its not much fun

when was the last time there was a tt for GT race cars ?????????

bmw mac f1
dodge viper
etc

It's more fun to beat it with a lower pp car like the others. Maybe a small bonus for how far under the limit you can beat it and use the $ earned as another form of leaderboard and it would be 2J free.

No race cars of any sort, Touring Cars, RM's or whatever should be allowed in any TT with comfort tires. Takes away any relevance of realism. Looks like PD would have more integrity with these events.

Next I'm hoping for formula cars at Autumn Ring Mini on comfort hard in the rain.

Come to think of it, I really would like to see that. :D

Barely golded it with a fully tuned, RM'd Civic 👍

Caterham was good for gold on the first lap, for me. Then I switched to a GT-R Black and smashed the original time. Neither lap felt fast, thanks to the tires.

I agree with this. Its an easy fix. No race or RM car should even have comfort or sport tires even available to it at all in the game. Its not real. You dont go out and put sport tires on an LMP. You should not be able to put anything but race tires on race cars.

Please refrain from name calling and insulting other members. Not only is it an immature way to handle things, its also against the AUP.

But what do you call che69velle's post in the first place? It's an insult to people who actually top the leaderboards. Not that they would care.

True, and I didn't agree with what he said either but I just ignored it so as not to start a war of words. And if I would have chosen to respond, I would have did so a bit more tactfully than just calling the person stupid or whatever. You can disagree and reply to someone without having to resort to name calling. Its called taking the high road and being mature about the whole thing.

Maybe PD could try something like this:

1) Track the 5 or 10 cars with the top lap times recorded for that TT

2) Have leaderboards for each of those cars, so that drivers can see how they stack up against other drivers of that car only. This would measure both tuning and driving skill. Drivers then have a better choice of which car they want to compete in.

3) Have on list of the those top 5 or 10 cars and the best time recorded in each one, so there would also be a "car" that wins each TT as well.

I think this would satisfy both sides of this argument, and all they have to do is update the way they compile and display the stats.

My 2 cents

Who really cares what car is used...yes, it has leaderboards, but it's not as if they are seriously worth anything. You beat the time by whatever margin, have a moment of self satisfaction if it is by a significant margin, then get on with life and go back to your GAME. It's like darts...you against the track/board. Your own score is all that really matters.

Ban the 2j.

And have leaderboards like gt5p for each car

I think it would ruin it because it wouldn't be as competitive, people would use a 2CV at Toscana or something just so they can say they have the world record. :)

Maybe it will be better to have the leaderboards categorized by PD, for example by the car types, FF, FR, MR, 4WD, then by class for race cars, GT500, Le Mans, Prototypes, GT300, RM, F1, and such. No need to go into model or individual cars. Also sorting the ranks based on aids used will be a good idea on every category. So we can have a ranking for GT500 cars, stock, with certain tire, no aids, with steering wheel, we can have it by clicking some buttons and drop down list. PD should have this from the start.
