Another time trial ruined by that damn 2J race car

My point is the 2j is unique, it has more then one engine and one of those is used to generate more downforce. The ruling against the 2J in RL is that you're not allowed to use an engine for the purpose of generating downforce. What i said makes sense in that it allows for cars to have more then one engine eg the hybrid Porsche.

Like other people have said not everyone who disagrees with the 2J has a problem with a given car being most successful for a given challenge.

The reason i think the 2J is broken is because people have been talking about their tunes for the 2J and stating their power and weight and the power:weight ratio they give can not be achieved with alternative race cars with such a LOW pp. So its not fixed is it. 👎
example
My 2J is 350 HP 936 kg so maybe less power more weight. im 4469 so hardly the best time but it worked out.

Edit: and for the record i prefer PD's approach to seasonal challenges where they are inclusive requirements rather then exclusive. It means you get more variety which is what i'd like to see.

"PD need to adjust the PP on it" is not a reason that suggests otherwise, particularly not when they already did and the car couldn't be adjusted much more and remain on an equal footing when stock.

But given the current 550pp seasonal people are able to get more power out of it and run it lighter then other race cars given the 550pp spec. Thats a problem.

Hmmm in my opinion i am thinking that if any car tops the leaderboards (not even the 2J) people will hate it afterwards! Is it because they dont have the car? They cant drive the car to have a spot at the leaderboards? And many more questions!

Im just seeing the trend here. I really seldomly post here as i usually only read around.

te?

It's not that. It's the fact that if you want your name up in lights (top 250), you are FORCED to use it. Time & time again...

Yes i know, I dont see any problem why people were to hate it. Its like all the other seasonal TTs there will always be a certain car that will have the edge and if you want to be up on that you have to use that specific car.

Makes no sense on people to hate it really.

If you read the thread i think you will find a reason in this case why people are frustrated with the 2J.

I agree that we need some non-tune, same-car time trials. It is great to be able to tune your stuff the way you like it and all, but it takes a bunch of time.

I wanna know how I rank when all other variables are held constant.

I think that is what people mean by "level playing field." What they really mean is they want the only variable to be the driver. And that would be cool every now and again.

Here's my 2p...

The only way that we will be able to get a variety of cars in the top 50, which I believe is what we all want to see, is to make seasonals with carefully selected PP and then make it tuning prohibited.

Or at least ban the engine limiter.

Then you'd have to choose... Handling or straight line speed... And because different people have different driving styles, that would improve variety significantly... Not hoping for miracles here but I think we could get 3 or 4 different cars in the top 50...

P.S. I did a race in a room recently were the rules were like this:

Tyres: Sports Hard
All aids off
Tyre depletion ON
Grip reduction:Real
Tuning:Prohibited

No PP regulation... That ment that the GT-Rs were fighting pretty closely with the the 458s and the Aventadors and the ZR1s... I loved it, personally...

I've read the thread. I've been here since it was started, and I've read every other thread on this issue. There are no valid reasons to take issue with the 2J specifically; just like there are no valid reasons to take issue with the Audi R8, the Nissan R390 GT1 and the Honda NSX-R LM (all of which have been extremely popular in TTs at one point or another). If you are sick of a certain car topping the leaderboards TT after TT, take issue with how the TTs are structured. Bitching about a specific car, and calling for PD to screw around with that car so people can't use it in TTs to the extent that it can disrupt the ability to use it outside of TT events, accomplishes nothing.

It's not about hating the car. I'ts about hating HAVING to use it in order to have a chance at getting into the top 250.

At least you have the option of using it. I have a 1000+ garage and no 2J. I see the 2D(?) in the most recent OCD, but it would be nice if they just put the 2J in there too. I skip all TT's that have the 2J in the leaderboard.

I'm aware of that. My comment stands.

The issue still has nothing to do with the car itself. The issue is with the TT event design. There are always cars that top the leaderboards, just like there are always cars that tend to top actual races and the regular Seasonal Events. The fact that it is the 2J more often than anything else is simply because the "PP + Tires" restrictions by themselves that PD rarely deviate from allow it to be the 2J. Even something as simple as country or year themes would exclude the 2J and allow a wide range of cars. But PD rarely do anything like that, so here we are.

I believe 936 KG and 350 HP would make 550 PP, at least based on PD's PP calculation system.

Here's a solution to people's complaining: What if PD just made it so if you used the 2J in a seasonal time trial, the engine powering the fans and giving you so much downforce was turned off? Think about it.

Like I said earlier, if we wanted to be super-realistic, this would happen every time people tried to use it.

It would break down, be pushed off the track, and be replaced with some other car that would dominate in much the same way. If you don't like seeing the 2J on the leaderboards, just do what I do: don't look at the leaderboards. 👍

Yes i have read the entire thread before even posting and there are really no "valid" reasons why you need to hate the car. All of the hatred are pure selfishness and immaturity.

The car fits the pp regulations so the car is basically eligible to compete.

Which, if we continued the super-realism, would be whatever cars the people complaining about it wanted to use instead; just like how McLaren went on to drive the series into irrelevance with their dominance after getting the Chaparral banned.

Agree.

Very well said! Cheers! 👍

Exactly. Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Wow Toronado, we actually agree on something. Bet it won't happen again, lol. jk.

I agree PD could do more to exclude certain options but i dont think this should be necessary. But this doesn't make you right about the 2J. The 2J is a special case as its one of two "sucker" cars, the other being the redbull 201x car. So someone else said that the suction fan should be switched off of the 2J. That would reflect its current PP. I rather think its better to have an inclusive approach though and just reflect the bonus downforce from the suction fan in additional PP. We would then see good competition involving the 2J and maybe not have the top 25000 cars being the same car!

You mean that thing that PD already totally did?

Yep. Which makes me quite curious why you brought it up again when it was already pointed out several times that the things you want PD to do with the car were already done.

I would argue it was Penske and Porsche that killed Can-Am. McLaren had the best Chevy engine cars but the series was competitive and other cars had their moments. Then the turbo Porsches came over and everyone else gave up. The 917-30 is the king of all sports cars.

The leader boards are always pretty much the same, once people figure out the fastest car to use for a TT or DT it pretty much dominates the leaderboards. I rarely see more than a few different cars in the top 100. Unlimited drift trials are always speed 12 which I cannot drift, I can't idle around a drift trial in 6th gear. 400-500 is always suzuki gsxr...... should we ban these cars too? I only do the tt for the money, I don't care about leaderboards, as soon as I get gold I quit.

I like the 2J. If it weren't for GT5 I never would have known about this historic race car.
