I hope I don't get Forza 3 syndrome :/

I was so hyped for it that I actually stayed up 24 hours to be first in line at the store.

Played it for a few days, realised that it was all hype and little else and then sold it.

I pray that PD can actaully deliver me the goods.

I'm actually very excited about GT5. More so than I have ever been for any other game release.

If for nothing else, because of the longevity the game brings to the table. I played GT4 for years; it probably didn't leave the disc drive on my PS2 for a solid 6-8 months! So I can't imagine GT5 being much different.

No Postpartum depression here, that's for sure!

I'm excited and realistic about my expectations for GT5 so when I finally get it and play for the first time on my new G27 I will be more than satisfied. Hopefully nobody turns out like this guy:

I have been waiting for about a year and a half and since then I have wanted GT5 more the ever! But for no reason at all this month, I'm scared the game will disappoint me but I know it won't!! But just what if it does, I'm kind of worried.

I'm worried it will turn out like GTPSP; it's probably because I just played it last night. Uh, I gotta find myself! I gotta figure out this is going to be the coolest thing ever....but will it really be that great at all!?!??!? My brain just exploded...

...watch desperate houswifes with my GF, then when I am really bored and have nothing else to do then I may just spin the disc in the PS3 or I may watch some ugly betty then some one Tree Hill and perhaps sex in the city 2.

Wow you have a really...........really.................interesting, genre of TV show favorites....................Top Gear anyone?

Sad but true, but satisfaction is an endless void that will just keep getting bigger as you try to put more stuff into it to crave its hunger. Key thing is to be happy with what you get. 👍

Thats what I tell my wife :)

I think this forum will quickly fill up with disappointment threads quoting how much better gt6 will be (probably in another 5 years ! ).
Personally I am not that exited about the game anymore I'm already a bit disappointed to be honest, dynamic weather only available on certain track's a track editor that isn't an editor std cars with no cockpit view too much carried over from gt4 and still too many Japanese cars for the worlds biggest car sim, plus I think we know everything there is to know about the game there will be no BIG surprise on its release, I will be buying it and playing ( a lot ) but for me the game now represents gt4.5.

Same here. I'm still a bit giddy when the GT4 world map starts up, and that somber jazzy music starts playing.

I've been playing GT4 off and on ever since release day five and a half years ago. GT5 is looking to be three to five times as large! I can't imagine the months of gameplay I'm going to have just getting through the Manufacturer Cup races! It's missing some things I want very much, such as a Livery Editor, but everything else is such a mass attack on my senses that I don't really mind.

Bring on NOVEMBER!

Thanks for posting the Mw2 freakout video that was hilarious.

I think its just the lulls in news that turns us off. Bring on some big news and you'll forget all about it.

I just got my PS3 a couple months ago after discovering more about GT5.

ATM, I can't wait as MW2 is boring and annoying the living 🤬 out of me, and Black Ops doesn't seem that great now ether.

GT5 FTW.

Up until TGS I had managed to become calm about GT5. But since then the sense of anticipation has been building again. The screen shots of the menus making my realise that the game proper is now on it's way. In the last week I've started to notice the expiry dates on my yogurt pots creeping towards the release date. BUT, I can see another calm arriving the night before release (as happened for GT4) as I get in the car approaching midnight, and head to a 24hr superstore. I can imagine this peace lasting through most of the 10Gb install... ... ... But I have absolutely no idea how I'll feel after that.

probably i shouldnt expect anything else than a GT4 with weather effects, better physics, more cars, more tracks.........omg, it is already way better than any game i played!

course we are hyped becuse GT4 was a great game, and probably GT5 will be better then GT4.

But guys, dont over hype it! It will be great.
I did hype Forza 3 and i thought it was awesome in the begining becuse i rly liked FM2. But FM3 is just horrible.

But i doubt PD will disapoint in GT5.

That was awesome. For a second, I thought it was a deleted scene from Napoleon Dynamite. Gosh! Idiot!

What! Man Im so pumped I feel like a little child again. I Was just playing GT4, its such a good game for its time man. GT5 will have all of GT4 content plus more! How can you not feel serious anticipation. The online feature alone is going to be huge for us. GT5P is going to be rocking with new idea. Just look at this https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=100797 I cannot wait to play this game!

Ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome to the handbag thread!

But in all seriousness, I am still excited. My growth of excitement has been exponential almost. E3, GamesCon, TGS...each convention gave us just a few more juicy tidbits and now I am ready for the main course. OM NOM NOM Apex Magazine! OM NOM NOM AMG SLS Scale Model!

You get the idea!

I'm feeling quite chilled about the whole thing, actually enjoying the last few weeks wait and putting the final finishing touches to my setup.

I'm hyped up as hell for Gran Turismo 5. To be perfectly honest, and I may be murdered for saying this, but Gran Turismo 5 will be the first ever simulator that I have ever played. The only other racing games I've played all had Need For Speed, Burnout, and Midnight Club in their title.

I've been looking forward to this game since early 2008 and knowing that I'm gonna get the full experience (G27) just has me hyped up. And since I love to drive in real life, yet legally I can't, Gran Turismo 5 is the next best thing to getting in the driver's seat for me, so my anticipation for this game is off the charts!
This trailer gets me pumped for GT5, don't know about you guys.

My partner, my friends cant understand my enthusiasm for a game like I do with GT. I have taken 2 whole weeks off work, I have purchased a brand new TV, I have got a brand new PS3 too just for this game.

As for disappointment nahh, that won't happen. I have played GT since number one and I played that in Japanese as an import. Every time a new GT comes along people get all frothy mouthed. At the end of the day PD are putt every hour into this game to make you happy, unlike some other devs who churn out tosh year on year. So excitement is well founded and disappointment is not an option.

Personally I will be jumping for joy when I hold the disk in my hand, but I haven't ordered the SE any other edition apart from the standard version. I will disappear Into a dark room and play till I'm fit to burst, the hard bit for me is going back to work afterwards.

Oh! I've been searching for a new TV for the living room now, I think it's time to upgrade soon, as I've been playing GT5P in 480i, I'm missing out on heaps! 👎
been waiting for a reasonable time to upgrade for a while now..

Was looking at this from Samsung..

I must admit im looking forward to GT5 that much I reckon I still struggle to sleep on Nov 3rd as I expect my copy to arrive on the 4th. I know this sounds childish but to be honest the night of Nov 3rd will be similiar to when I was a child on Xmas eve.

I doubt I will be disappointed though. Prior to TGS I tried to keep my expectations to a minimum. However since PD announced weather, track creator etc I would say GT5 is actually exceeding my expectations. I had a feeling these features might be in GT5 but I didn't expect them to all be in GT5.

Also I have been extremely sneaky with ordering GT5. I have now ordered 2 copys of GT5, one from Shop to and the other from play.com. I've done this because its incredible how many games seem to get lost in the post. What i've done is I asked my neighbour if he wants me to order GT5 on his behalf for only £30, which he accepted. So come November 4th if one of my copies does get lost in the post, at least I shall have the back up of the other copy. I will just simply say to my neighbour his copy hasn't arrived yet!

I know what im doing is sneaky but this is why I told me neighbour its only £30 instead of £34 from Shop to. I don't mind losing £4 knowing I have 2 copys arriving.:sly:

Not a bad TV at all. Once you have played GT in HD you can't go back.

Well, I am somewhat excited about GT's release being so close and I guess I would be a lot more excited about it if it wasn't for my job consuming a lot of the time I'd spend on hyping myself up about GT. Good thing I love my job, so I feel pretty good about it.

I'll gladly open the box and play the game for a few hours as soon as I can get my hands on it, but that's about it.
I'll be on vacation for three weeks come December, though. And I have a strong feeling I'll be spending those three weeks in GT Country.

It's more like a reuniting of GT5 Prologue or some expansion to me.

With around 200 cars and 70 already played in GT5P there's going to be about 80 new cars that interest me and the rest of the 200-230 whatever, will be made up of novelty cars, le man cars, repeated cars like Audi's in race trim being used as a separate Premium car. So its more like an expansion. If it was 400+ Premium it gives much more chance of any user to have substantial amount of new cars to see. With 800 being ripped from GT4/PSP and as said, at least 50 Premiums being just only novelty or repeated cars in race trim. Not expecting a 1000 Premiums but I feel PD would've known by October 2007 the rate they were knocking out cars and by the time for release they'd only have 180 odd cars. Add another yearish (like they did) and bump it to 230 whatever. Not good enough. I wonder how many out there will feel when they learn only 20% are PS3 quality and the rest are from a game they payed for in 2005.

I heard SPA mentioned but not sure if its in, haven't really checked. Last time I looked it was the Nurburgring GP track only worthy of note. The rest is what we've seen before or more of the same fantasy tracks. I love GT's fantasy tracks but more City tracks is not what we need. We need worthy real world additions in GT5 too. The Indy track in the Academy demo is just a expected addition since the Nascar thing and it was one of the dullest tracks. Which leads on to how GT5 is doing lots of things but spreading itself rather thinly. Maybe falling short for everyone.

Not even sure if favs like Apricot hill and Midfield Raceway will have been re-done. I'm expecting some favs to be ported and not Premium tracks. The new rally tracks looks like PD's 1990 style dirt track with wide huge arching corners left to right, invisible walls and nothing like a rally stage.

Online looks to be improved but has public rooms been mentioned? Big problem with Forza is the omission of this and just leaving private and a handful pre-selected races like GT5P. Your forum may not have enough people at the time to take interest in your thread about your race with no driving aids, A class RWD cars at the Nurburgring but you'll find like minded racers or you can search for a similar race types going on that night when you want to play. Joining 10 forums won't do it either. Public rooms are really needed, especially after a few months when it quietens down or some crappy Lotus Evora comps are taking up most of your forum go-ers. And public rooms are great for adding new friends and not relying on the usual suspects of your particular forum to be there when you want.

Weather is a great inclusion and looking forward to it. I'd pay 40 quid for PD's Nurburgring, 150 cars and some weather and night racing. So I'm not moaning and greatly looking forward to GT5 but it's not some Grand Daddy car game that you'd expect with 60-80 million spent with the info so far.

Another problem is that it seems Night and Weather won't be available to all tracks?

Still, there's more to come maybe and hope they're able to add to the sparse real world tracks of GT4.

I must say, this thread is one of the most interesting reads on GTP, since after the GT4 release.

How do you feel? Interesting question.

I'm not really sure anymore. Numb is the first word that comes to mind.

Sure, I've ordered the collectors edition and I might even pick it up Monday night. But there's no real excitement and anticipation at this point.

All of that has been cycled on and off so many times the past 2+ years, its as if my batteries have gone dead.

Its not like I don't want to get excited, but I can't seem to crank it up again.
Maybe I'm already in the throes of "anticipation withdrawal" and just don't know it.

God forbid, I can't believe I'm saying this; maybe it's better this way?
Maybe with a more neutral attitude, I'll be more objective and the game itself will recharge my batteries.

Having had that intense excitement and anticipation at the release of GT4, after playing it initially, I seemed to have had a crash of depression afterwards. GT4 was so different than GT3. I almost didn't go back and play it anymore. It was a little while before I did. The challenge of the A spec points, seem to lure me in. Graphically, in 1080i it was so much better too. I ended up playing it more than any game previously, even GT3.

GT5 will be an even bigger transition than GT4.

Who knows, maybe between now and Nov 1st, I'll get one more boost, and I'll go down and pick it up at midnight and play it all night?

The less you think about it the quicker the time goes. But with less than a month to go now, it's getting hard.

I will feel relieved, happy and satisfied. I'll be thinking "Thank 🤬, at last!"
