Quite simply the new model is a pain in the ass after 9 months on the OG model. Can generous folk on here share some tips?

Can't say I've noticed any difference for the "new tyre model" except my qualifying times are faster, and I've always used a pad.

Its better now on ds4 or a wheel. Tried both before and after, the car is just telling you more info. It feels like there's a bit more to manage but you get used to it.

Can't say I've noticed any difference for the "new tyre model" exept I can now get my head a further 3 inches up my bumhole while making posts that don't help anyone ...
But seriously, what exactly is giving you trouble? I found the car was stepping out and breaking loose at the back when going into corners hard on brakes which was new to me. I've fixed this by no longer letting go of L2 with a snap and instead "rolling" of the button with a bit of progression.
At first I was also rolling on a little bit of R2 before I'd even fully come off the brake just to keep the car stable.
Also, what driver aids are you using ?
It is quite different, but just get some laps in and you'll pick it up before you know it.

Firstly I guess that is a talent. It many also be down to me starting to use manual gears. Also use tc2 and CSA. Your tips make sense, which I should give a go tonight.

when it first changed I was all over the place, you just need to practice more and get used to it.

Is there any class in particular you drive more often? Or are there any particular issues you're finding with the new model?

I main the Cayman in Gr.4 because I just love how it drives, regardless of its outright abilities in the class. It's a bit more lively post-update IMO, but it's nothing some additional care in terms of smoothness can't correct. For it, it's the initial steering input that can upset the rear.

This week I've swapped over to the Viper, and I was initially thrown off by the amount of high-speed understeer it has. It requires a rougher, by-the-scruff-of-its-neck approach to really get that huge nose pointed in on entry, and trailbraking helps it immensely.

You mention switching to manual, and still using TC(2). I'm not going to suggest you go all super-hardcore, zero aids, but from memory, even TC2 can allow for enough shove to spin the car if you're not careful. So my tip there, if it's an issue, is to shift up early and use the gearing as its own sort of TC system. Pour the car through a corner, start winding off lock as quickly as you can (and as accurately, given the thumbstick's travel), and shift down once you're nearly pointed straight.

I feel like the faster the car, the more its been 'nerfed'.

At sub N500 its not a big deal, I dont think the difference is that big.

Someone mentioned that the higher the class of car, the less grip it has. That is true. Just about every GT3 or faster car has required me to re-learn... I admit that I have hit "restart race" more than a few times as I was frustrated by how different "my cars" are now.

A few cars I used to crush the competition, cars with 5, 10, 15 or more wins are now more difficult to drive.

At Grp1 and Grp.X the differences are very big on many.

Cornering speeds and braking distances seem to have gotten slower and longer respectively.

We may all not like it but this is how it is. They are almost completely new cars at this level.

I've noticed no difference in my driving with the new tyre model other than I am more comfortable and more competitive. ABS weak is much more usable and causes less understeer even after you've stopped braking and the smooth input on acceleration is a lot more forgiving and easier to manage.

It would help if you were able to explain where you feel you are struggling with it so people can give pointers or even upload what you think is a personal strong lap for others to assist with.

You don't need to change your driving dramatically to feel comfortable with the new model.
