Anybody actually use the horn?

I use it sometimes to let people know I'm around, especially when I'm in their blind spot. Also, my daughter likes pressing it when I'm just screwing around :).

Ryk
I use the horn - like a range finder... beep the horn and you can judge the distance and direction to the car ahead by the return echo (You need good speakers or headphones of course - and a bit of practice.) - very useful for driving in heavy rain or foggy conditions.

LOL!

On topic: The cars have horns?

Rarely, but when I do, it is after being involved in an accident which wasn't my fault. Purpose is to let the other player (or AI) know I am swearing at them irl. ;)

I use the horn so frequently that I have designated to two inputs on my controller!

Simply put, I will not drive a car that doesn't have a horn.
The fact the some of the rally cars now have functioning horns (Delta S4 :D Hyundai Accent :D) is even better.
The amount of people who yell at me online for blaring the horn constantly is silly.
I use it all the time. Especially in online races where I'm pushing the player in front of me. Anything to make them lose focus.

I guess there will always be people who choose to be "that guy." Please, oh please, don't be that guy.
Overuse of horns is rude, poor sportsmanship, a dirty tactic, total BS... and good grounds for kicking. You guys should be playing NFS or Dirt, not a driving simulator where people have practiced to become skilled drivers and are really trying to enjoy a good race.

The horn makes the race cleaner, because it works well as a "hey Im next to you dont run me off the track." I use it whenever Im passing someone in a tight place or if someone touches me as a "get off my 🤬!" Or as "You are holding me back! I'm at 3/4 throttle and I out brake you every turn, stop blocking me! The leaders getting away" lol

Yeah my daughter wants to see the wipers all time it's funny at times in standard cars she doesn't yet Understand there are no wipers on these

Ive had a few instances where an AI driver has moved over after I beeped the horn at them. I havent tried flashing the lights at them yet though, may need to try that.

Thanks. I'll have to give the horns a try for that next time I race.

Fwiw, I've only used the light flashing trick a few times. I believe the last time it was during a "dusk" event, so if it doesn't work during daylight hours, give it a try during the "evening". (I wouldn't put it past them to have programmed the behavior to occur only during certain 'environmental' conditions...)

Lol if using a horn is trolling. I am usually the cleanest racer of the group, but if I feel like spamming the horn at you then deal with it. This is seriously the lamest complaint I have seen on gtp, but I guess there will always be "that guy" that cries about anything. Don't be that guy buddy. You have real life stuff that's more important. Lol, you can barely even hear it online too. Thanks for the laughs.

I actually use it but try not to be a dick about it. I use it before the race and get others to honk along for fun but during the race I use it only when trying to overtake on narrow straights like Bathurst and parts of Le Mans when they've not given me space.

I use it online occasionally, mostly if people cut me off, are dirty, or I am alerting another player to my presence. If it were real life it would be comparable to gesticulating within the cockpit, or flashing the headlights (which had little effect in GT5). If I'm alerting someone I do it on the straights so it isn't distracting for them. People who get on the horn to deliberately distract others was one of my pet hates in GT5, much like any other form of dirty driving within a clean room.

WTF is a horn?

Yeah, I use the horn! Every time I get brake-checked on the first lap by the braindead AI. Since I can't punt them into the sand like in GT4, the horn helps to blow off some steam. :p

The only time I ever use the horn is when I'm in a Free Run room online and we're playing follow the leader around the Nurburgring. Usually, if someone spins out or goes off the track, the person following will the become the leader. Obviously, we are pushing it to the limit. Well, if one of us doesn't want to take over - lets say you're more in the mood to chase, or he wrecked very soon after taking over - usually a couple honks let's him know "No...you take the lead."

I don't see the horn doing anything in career mode against the AI, nor do I see flashing the lights do anything against the AI. That really frustrates me!

If someone is sat on my backside I usually just light up my brake lights (Varying degrees of strength depends on my mood), and they soon get the message that they are too close.

then you lose 0.25 tho :/

I people in the lobby can't tell there is a car beside them without it blowing the horn, I find a different lobby.

Nas, you know I'd rather hear a V8 Audi than a horn.

I use the horn for the sole purpose of telling someone to resume driving at their regular pace after someone makes contact in practice. Otherwise, I never use it.
