Agreed.

But judging by the title, I'll tell you that my uncle's 350Z has NisMo dampers and Brembo brakes.

why 17's. there are 106's running about with 20's and most exec cars now come with 17s. 18s and 19s the way for the UK.
And performance mods push up your insurnace premiums and seing as its your first car meaning the power potential wont be very high. When I was younger I had the same mentality like you.

Buy a civi and then buy mods to make it go like stink. And now I realise I wont have a car that will be consider fast by car enthusists untill im about 21.

My truck is pretty modified: 3 inch drop, black halo project headlights, black euro corners, euro tail lights, high performance tires, M3 mirrors, and a sound system.

Im not sure what he was trying to ask but my car is slightly modified. :sly:
Actually I have been driving modified cars for about 12 years now.

I used to have a '95 Neon with a 2.4 DOHC engine swap out of a '96 Stratus in it. We were one of the first to do this swap, though definitely not THE first by any stretch. It also had some upgraded suspension components.

It was a fun little car for 3 or 4 years, but it drowned in deep water last fall.

I KNOW it's illegal, but I honnestly don't know anybody who tells their insurance companies about any of their modifications. I really don't.

Unless you quite like handling.

15-17" is the optimum range for acceleration, speed and handling. 20" wheels on a 106 puts nearly 10% of the total mass of the car unsprung. This does not bode well for handling. Not to mention the fact that a 106 would struggle even to turn them.

Slightly?!

Dude... I thought 2002 Firebird Interiors, 383 Stroker motors, Budniks and clear taillights came stock in 69...

;)

Young_Warrior, please make an attempt to use grammar in your posts.(seeing as how you think Europeans are better than Americans in every way shape, or form, please try to show that you can communicate your feelings in easily decipherable sentence structures)

When My chevy's done it will have a 305 Smallblock with an Edelbrock Performer EPS (no EGR! yay!) intake manifold and a 600 cfm electric-choke Performer carb. Also, I plan to get the 14" E-T Torq-Thrusts I have a set of Firestones with the white letters.

When we got it the interior was clearly custom, it was gray cloth and black vinyl, it looks pretty cool. It had a set of Buick rallye wheels, but those will go by the wayside once the E-Ts are on. There's a set of dummy spots on it, which I want to find some way to get functional.

EDIT: The handling nazi likes huge rims? That seems odd...;)

17"s give are the best size on most hatchs as 20"s would make a civic or whatever to slow sloopy handling and the ride would be dead rough I live on a road that is like a rally track and with 20"s frist off they would get wreaked and 2 all the reasons above and the car would have to trailer everwhere I want a car not a show car a car that I can drive and by performance upgrades I mean CAI cat back Exhaust Chip suspenion

No. 16 is really the optimum, unless you can find really, really light (and therefore massively expensive) 17" ones.

With the right offset.

And stud pattern.

Famine, by realy light what kinda weight are you talkin about?

The optimum is the car's stock rim.

Also, in the situation where you need wider tires, the best bet is taking a stock steel rim, seperating the spider (center piece) and welding it into a wider hoop. There are services that will do this for dirt cheap.

Depends on the car.

If you want to preserve handling, you need to keep the wheel/tyre combo as close as possible in weight to the stock wheel/tyre combo. If you can get a wheel not significantly heavier, then a reduction in tyre sidewall height, to maintain rolling radius, should happily account for that - but if you want to preserve driveability, you need to keep the aspect ratio as close to stock as possible. So by increasing wheel size, you're going to sacrifice one or the other. Or nadger up your rolling radius and need your speedo recalibrated (possibly as well as, in fact).

He means on your car! :sly:

My car is bone stock. I'd never even bother considering modifying it. Maybe I'll pick up an fc and use it as a project car but that would be a couple years down the road.

My car is only mildly modified. Just a few parts on it, but its a little faster than stock. Lets see, I have a new.......

block
pistons
rods
crank
trans
clutch
flywheel
transfer case
center and rear diff
head
valves
springs
cams
cam gears
plugs
wires
ignition
ecu
oil cooler
turbo
intercooler
intake manifold
exhaust manifold
IC piping
wastegate
BOV
fuel pump
injectors
coilovers
sway bars
roll cage
wheels
tires
partial stripped interior
seats
laptop
and a few I'm sure I forgot by now.....

So, just a few parts added. Its really nothing big. But, its fun.

:D

Hey JNasty do you have any pictures of your car? It has black rims on it right? I'm trying to talk my buddy into getting a set for his Talon.

Basically. When I have the sticky Kumhos on for an auto-x or whatever, then yes. They are gunmetal gray, not totally black. But, yea, pretty much. Right now, I have the stock 17's on with normal Goodyears. Makes for the total sleeper look. Here's a few pics.....

Thanks, my buddies Talon is that oragne color and its a TSi as well, but it sure as hell doesn't run 11's.

I've decided recently, that I'm going to officially make a run at 10's come spring. This winter, we're going to refine the tune a little, maybe make some more power. But, when I get to the track, the Mickeys are going on, the two-step is getting set at 6000rpm, and its do or die. I don't hardly ever drive the car on the street anymore, so I need to do something with it. If it breaks, so be it. Should be fun.

HAHA, sleeper look..... Not really with that intercooler sittin there......

I'd see you comin from a mile behind me...lol

And even if i had the bottle in the trunk, armed and ready to go, you'd still have me by a lil more than a second in the 1/4...lol

EDIT: 10's shouldnt be a problem with 131 trap speeds...
I used to trap 137 on my gsxr-1000 and run 10.50s all day easy....

oh and a second edit: nice lookin car too BTW

You'd be shocked how many people don't see it. Its a top-to-bottom flow IC, so it almost looks like a big radiator. Many people think the car is just a little lower with a big exhaust and BOV on it. HA HA, oh how wrong they could be.

No, they won't be hard. The hard part is getting there, and then MAKING it home. The times I've run so far to date have been with fairly un-sticky street tires. Sticky Kumho MX, yes. They work fine for auto-x and what not. But, trying to get over 560whp to the ground, the aren't sticky enough.

But, they work fine as is for a daily driver. It spins the tires all the way through 1st (yes, all 4), then hooks and goes. No worrys about breaking things like that, so its fine. Makes for reliable runs and easy driveability. But, if I want better 60 ft's, and to get into the 10's, its going to need slicks, or much stickier street tires. That should get the times, easilly. But, making the car last through it too many times is the questionable part.

Thats why I said this spring its all or nothing. The MTs are going on, and its a full bore run to see what she'll do. Might break something, but I'm ok with that.

Well since you guys are showing you modified cars, I'll just have to put my slow ass truck up here to show you what not to race .
