I'll start.

No tyre wear.
No pitstops.
Tracks seem wider than real life.
Trees look like mushrooms.
Seem to be some unstable frame rate on replays (xbox version).

I don't yet own the game as it has not been released. Just some early impressions and a place for criticism to go.

Cheers, rant away.

Let me write that down maybe Ill get a discount when I buy the game...
One thing was for sure when Shift 1 was released I spent a lot more time playing and a lot less time writing in forums... too bad I cant say the same for GT5
Its not like I dont enjoy the game (GT5) I just seem to be enjoying the forums more - go figure!

EDIT: lol... I just saw the title of the thread - I thought I was posting in another thread.... lololol

Nope I'm not. The Game delivers what I want. :)
And the pits.. well when do you use them in GT5?
Never except in Endurence...soo all fine to me.
I get the sounds the action the speed alot of nice tracks and nice cars.
No disappointment to me.
Only thing that is bugging me there is no LeMans ... I'd love to see it in this game.

well if it is as you say then perhaps there are som things to be improved. But if that is the main things to be annoyed over then im buying this game! As ive seen the most important thing, the racing, seems great. The AI seemes really hard to beat and seems to have great brakingpoints. Sound is great, cars look great, track is open for discussion...anyway, it seemes as they will have 9 out of 10 right, and there is still possible to get patch later on.
The best thing...it didnt take 6 years to make :)

This thread is pointless. Game isn't even out yet...

Go tell that to the trolls invading the other Shift 2 threads...

I think you will understand the thread better if you have some sence of humor/sarcasm to go along with it.

Pitstops arent a deal breaker for me but it deffinately deserves to go down as dropped point.

The telemetry looks fantastic and the option to adjust on the fly and see real time improvements are a big plus.

Tire wear would have been the icing on the cake. To be able to have set up your suspension to get an optimum tire usage would have made the fantastic telemetry shine even more.

Still I'm getting this game but felt this thread would come in handy for legitimate complaints.

But you cant have legitimate complains until youve played the game? can you?

Pits would be a more useful thing in GT5 if you could accelerate time like you can with lighting and weather...

Be nice to make a 5 lap race less of a drift-fest as people try to conserve tires (and fuel).

It was VERY rare in Shift1 (as it is in GT5, to be honest) to get the ADHD kids to want to race anything more than five laps of ANYTHING (and rare you can get two laps of the Ring out of them) so just what exactly is the POINT of pitstops and tire wear?

You want a pre-release rant of disappointment? Here's mine...

Track debris stays on the track. (Happens in GT5 too, but much lighter debris). No track racing series allows this.

No qualifying (happens for GT5, too). Good racers shouldn't have to plow through the noobs to get to the front. Makes for too much contact. Bad enough when you lap them!

The rest will have to wait until the game's in my hands, but I expect I will be disappointed as to how few tools (except using a CDC Friends list) to filter out idiots online will be in the game...

Well there starting to come out of the woodwork.
People who live under bridges and eat nanny goats.
I thought I'd make a playground and free up other threads.

Sorry if I shot my bolt, I rarely post up new threads If ever.

I apologise, I read this before reading the last 3 pages of the main thread.

I dont think you two have to apologise, at least to me you dont... but I appreciate it anyway.:dopey:

Can't help to think this is somewhat of an early retaliation for this thead.

It's called KARMA, finally.

Now, how does it feel?

Calling their game "the most realistic racing game ever", is like shooting themselves in the foot.

All kidding aside, I hope for a good game in shift. More driving sims would be better.

All attempts to confine the GT5 complaints to one area have failed, I doubt this will do any better. Too many people are ready to uncritically judge the game because it's EA, because it's NFS, because it only took a year and a bit to make, because it's not called Gran Turismo.

Ten points for trying though.

I think to be disapointed before a game is release is pretty shallow maybe it dosent have everything you want but i have yet to see the pwerfect race game on a console system

GT5's complaints can't be corralled into one little area because they are made by actual GT5 players, actually massively disappointed with the game. As much as the trolls and fanboys would like to pretend otherwise.

They certainly weren't posted before the game came out by Shift players...

But, then again, Shift players had class. You know what I remember about Shift players? That they weren't a whiny bunch of kids, demanding that all challenge be removed from the game, and that all cars should be unlocked so they can hoon around the day they bought the game. I wonder why that was?

Maybe because the game, even at lower levels, was FUN?! :sly:

But hey, who needs that in a game..? Not GT5 fanboys, that's for sure. They apparently get their fun from trolling other game forums and criticizing a game that isn't even out yet. And when THAT is more fun than playing the game you actually HAVE, that don't say much for it, does it? :banghead:

For me this OP wins the price for most ****** topic opening of the year how in earth u can be dissaponited in a game that u haven't seen yet

Well, I'll have to second this. Then again, it's not that big of a deal to me, in my opinion.
It's a lot harder to be disappointed if you're not expecteting too much. Partially because the budget of the game isn't astronimically high, partially because there's not as many fans hyping it up, partially because it didn't spend years on end in development and partially because there's no big boss telling us to 'expect perfection'.

Personally, I think that it's much easier to look past certain flaws when the game is actually distracting you from those flaws. I won't mind a widened track as much when I'm still fighting hard for position.

So far, Shift 2 looks a lot better than what I actually expected initially, so it's kind of a stretch to say that I'm disappointed.

You know... Point over head and so on.

I'm nowhere near disappointed with this game. It looks like it'll be great.
And even if I am disappointed with it, it still won't top the disappointment I had when I bought gt5.

tyre wear and pit stop are useless without dynamic weather and races forced to be at least of 20 laps like f1 2010.

the only thing i dislike is the absence of rain and qualify.

Some people would be, since they called themselves "the most realistic racer ever" but without pit stops, tire wear and qualifying.

lol, what? Break that down for my tiny mind please :)

No tyre wear.
It's a shame, as you say telemetry with tire wear was the deal
No pitstops.
I try to close an eye

I could close the other one
Trees look like mushrooms.
Gotta close my third eye now :sly:

This is where I'm concerned, frame rate. It's a racing game frame rate HAVE TO BE at least 30 fps rock solid. SMS you need totake care about it, you should consider reducing some details it's a ps3/360 game not ps4, not yet.

people who actually trust marketing slogans as the truth probably will die of stroke under direct exposure of modern commercialism.

If people have survived Gran Turismo calling itself the real driving simulator for over a decade they really should have no problem dealing with that.
