Anyone have really slow ai? Beating ai with only 2nd gear.

In 2nd video you're in 3rd the whole time, which changes things massively, plus you could've switched gear ratios. And...you car looks massively overpowered for the event even though you're driving like crap.

But this is GT6 and I'm not surprised by this at all.
LOL over powered? Gear ratio changed, I'm a human and trust me I don't lie for the sake of game bashing I have better things to do in life. And this message board sometimes test my resolve to be part of this comunity.

The car was very underpowered actually, it looks overpowered maybe because I'm not braking into the corners? And the crappy driving, well no one is doubting that:lol:. It's almost as though the bad driving was a point being made about how easy the AI is to beat. I'm pretty bad at this whole racing thing anyhow… But no one in REAL LIFE wins a sedan race in 2nd gear or 3rd (well it doesn't matter the gear because no one stays in 1 gear and wins races, san CVT) and that out of anything I've typed so far you can truly trust me on.

I'll understand if at this point you try to find a goofy one off video of some crazy race where some guy won it by a stroke of luck, but this I can duplicate at every race I've done thus far in GT6. I should have to use more than 3rd or 4th gear on the straight in the 2nd video. Heck I just won the super Gt cup ( I think it's called something along those lines) with a Scirocco I won as a prize car and that race netted me the dave and goliath trophy; 👍

AI hauls ass for me. It's actually kind of frustrating.

For starters, i wasn't expecting A.I. to be improved at all, it's been crap in every single GT. But in other aspects i'm happy they're crap. For how we have to grind out money, wouldn't it suck if the A.I. was really good? And you could barely place high enough to earn a decent amount of credits?

Be careful what you wish for.

HAHAH I'm wishing away as we speak. You now it's funny, in matterhorn my mountains do this kind of flash in and out of existence thing and a few other weird stuff happens but I love the game, the only gripe is the AI. Like I said that GTR race was fantastic! I *wish* the AI in career was like that. That's all.

I've been winning everything on comfort softs with base model cars, AI usually has a car that slaughters me on the straights, but they go so slow through the corners I just breeze past them. It's annoying actually, there is literally no challenge at all, even with a much slower car you will win because of how slow the AI goes through the corner.

When behind the AI i've seen them brake at the exit of a corner, causing me to crash into them. I mean.. It's not enough that they brake early before the corner, then drive through it slowly but sometimes they brake on the exit of the corner too.

Slow AI and the broken clutch are among my biggest issues with the game at the moment. I want them to be driving the capability of their cars, so that I have to drive well, so that I'm forced to upgrade my car if I'm driving something slower. The game is overwhelmingly easy, golding the Licence tests, Missions and Goodwood hill climbs is just no challenge at all, much easier than GT5. Only the Coffee Break events have a challenge.

Just told you what I saw. Wasn't calling you a liar. Plus everything you said, I agree with. The difficulty is laughable.
I got the david and goliath trophy with a <500pp car so I'm with you all the way.
What's worse is that my ps3 just died and I'm going to spend $150 on a new one just to play GT6 for a couple months and regret it shortly after.

just do the gt3 championship with a stock z4 gt3 if you want challenging it's on the international a level.

If you're easily beating races, use 150 pp less than the limit. It's much more exciting! Also DO NOT tune your car unless its absolutely impossible for your car to win.

GT5 had the issue, you had to get all the way to the Le Mans 24 hours before there was a challenge from the AI. Sadly you just can't expect to grind through the whole game with zero challenge to arrive at one race that lasts 24 hours and where the AI has transformed from a bunch of complete novices into a world class level drivers.

There needs to be a medium point, you should be at the point of needing to upgrade your car by the clubman cup, the AI should be able to drive properly. At the moment the option is in to vastly overtune your car if you need to, so why too is the AI slow enough to allow the slowest of drivers to win? If they can't drive they can still tune their cars into oblivion.

I personally want a challenge from the first race, not weeks of grinding against idiot slow AI only to get 1 race where the AI can drive, I'm enjoying the game but find myself shouting at the AI for being too **** and too slow.

Edit : Using a Honda Fit to race against a BMW M3 and getting a challenge from it is not the same, If I'm driving a Honda Fit then I should be worried about getting lapped, not cruising past in the corners and then getting slaughtered on the straights.

Did anyone finish the career yet? Anyone meet harder AI yet?

You guys defending the GT6 AI know that they literally swerve back and forth down straights for absolutely no reason, right?
Driving through fields of AI in GT6 is like negotiating rush hour traffic, racing. They will swerve away from you, into you, brake so early you can't even react and stop (no, I don't leave a car length for every 10mph).

I like a lot of things about GT6 but the AI is probably the worst I've ever played against. In any game. It does get better in late stages, and that helps, but it's also irritating at the same time. Now I have it in my head that 507PP will be fine for a 600PP race, and it's not. In any case you need to run a lower compound tire than them if you don't want to turn circles around them.

Yes, they are much better in later events, particularly S events.

I still don't understand why they need to swerve around like drunken fools to go slow in early stages though.

God damn, S?! Did you just do it all in one sitting? How is that fun Dom ? :(

Night champions series, 441PP s2k. I was grinning from ear to ear.

I thought the swerving was them trying to break the draft or go defensive on entry.

lol...

Hear hear GT's career mode in a nutshell ; simulating someone that's late for his meeting and encounters only grandmothers on the road there.

Once the AI get better, if you go back and play earlier races, are they any better or still terrible?

I love when people post this.
Yes, I could do that and I do, do that, but my 400pp car and my mediocre skills should not be easily beating cars of equivalent performance.

I know the license and mission races will eventually be a bit tough for me but that's not what the majority of the game is.

The night champions series AI is slightly better, I did it in a stock Honda S2000 (from prize). Infact I'd call that AI confused. Sometimes it was more than keeping up with me, then it would change its mind and be really slow. Also I was 16 seconds behind the lead car at Bathurst with 1 lap to go by the time I'd made it up to 2nd place, and in the final lap the lead car drove so slow that I was able to catch him well before the end... I saw him driving very very slowly (waiting for me?) and then he started to speed up massively as soon as I'd passed him.

There is definitely a lot of rubber banding going on and it's not too well optimised. In this series I've seen genuine speed and absolute horrifically slow and annoying AI from the same cars in the same race, and the lead car will always slow down to allow you to catch up somewhat, even if it means he's running the final lap up to 20 seconds slower.

To be honest the AI really is pretty messed up, why is it so hard for them to give us a difficulty option and then we drive to our skill level.

Have you played the GT-R License mission @ Silverstone(I think)?
You're in a GT-R racing a GT-R can be going full out on the straights and the AI catches you up like he has 2x the horsepower, then just slows down as he gets close to you.

That race was fun sauce. But I think the point was to force driver error by just driving the mirrors. I wish he'd have gone for moves up the inside.. .

I'd prefer it to be more realistic. If I was able to leave him in the dust through a section of corners, he shouldn't be gaining so quickly in the same car on the straights.
It was fun, yeah. Took a good 20 minutes and wasn't frustrating at all.

Loads of fun. :) I gave up on good races against the AI years ago.

Just grabbing money money money! (So I can buy cars and more cars)

In the first 2 or 3 licenses, the A.I uses cars that are nearly 100PP under the regulation - if the limit is 500, they're using 400. If your using 450 (150 under reg.) you're only 50PP under the A.I.. It says this in the race descriptions for those interested in knowing.

I'm having fun with the A.I., I just passed my N-B license :). Still feels like catch the rabbit with rubberbanding! I hate when I get a good lead then all of a sudden the guy in second pops into my mirror! It's either they have drafting set to really really strong or they're cheating!

I think the reason the AI car catches so fast on the straight in the GT-R mission at Silverstone is due to drafting being too strong again. I've noticed it myself at Bathurst especially, these cars crush me down the back straight but then I'm easily able to keep with them in a slower car if I draft them, gain massive speed.

Drafting is way over the top again.

Has anyone wondered why it seems so hard to create a decent AI in a game that has 1200+ cars? To create a decent AI PD would have to basically match every single car's perfomance to every circuit, and with that many cars it's basically impossible on the PS3 or anything else to do that.

So what they do is use a live in-game reference... you. This makes all GT6 AI inately reactive and in need of rubberbanding techniques to work. I'm not saying it's an ideal experience for the player, but it's the only way they can get 1200 cars to lap the same track at some kind of relevant speed to the player.

I've noticed the AI slow way down in the last few laps on career mode. Almost to make you catch up and win. My experience comes from the GT3 Group races whereI'm doing laps 2 and 3 same pace as the leaders, and then lap 5 they slow right now. Ruins the competitive feel that the AI have..

I own more than 20 cars in the game and haven't changed suspension, brakes, clutch or gearbox to any of them, BECAUSE IN THIS GAME THERE'S NO NEED TO MAKE YOUR CAR BETTER, YOU WIN ANYWAY.

I have credits close to 800.000

Today was the first day that i didn't touch the game at all. (...been playing it since tuesday)
I'm thinking of selling it back to my local store and get at least some of my money back.

This is the first time that i'm even thinking of doing such a thing with a GT game. (I have played them all)
I'm very dissapointed.
If i wanted an arcade type catch up gameplay i would had bought an NFS game instead.

i still maintain, the Classic race car series in the ib series of races is one of the toughest to beat early game. the rubber might be there but to get to them in the road cars the game gives you, theres nothing but pure challenge.

Maybe offline, if it's set to weak online there's a much smaller speed boost than in GT5. I was racing someone who was losing a few car lengths to me on the straights at Twin Ring Motegi and all it did was allow him to maintain the gap right behind my car. Definitely feels improved.
