Anyone sick of the Speed 12 in the drift trials?

Have broken into the top 1000 several times with the IS-F. (NOT the concept, the road version without RM. max tune, 563hp IIRC, comfort hards.)

Tougher to get points, but high RPM drifting is much more entertaining.

in real life drift is scored not by rev per minit when sliding but with combination of some other things, you know that all. If we ( PD), separate leaderboard wheel/controller + HP restriction or car restriction then I SWEAR it will be TIMES mor interesting and challenging!!!!!!!

I've golded every tarmac drift trial so far in a tank car.. been keeping it that way.

its the same with TT events and the r390 car. i say Pd should provide the cars for each trials so we do it in same car. they have done it before on seasonals and provided the car for us. so why not make it long term?

I never use the top drift car (the Special, speed 12, etc.), I always use my camaro becuase its more fun that way, instead of being a "robot" as I like to call them (lol), I prefer to stand out on the leaderboard (well, a little anyways) by using a different car.

I only go by my friends for the drift scores as there is always a good variety and around 20 of us do every event that pop's up. For time trial's it's a completely different story though as I'm aiming for the world's head :).

Let me tell you something. You have to be pretty damn good to drift out an unstable beast like the TVR Cerbera Speed 12. That one is a beast of a car in road racing. As a drift car, you have to do a lot of tuning to keep that behemoth anchored to the track while sideways. I saw one replay of one Speed 12 getting sideways... just insane. Much respect to those who can drift out their Speed 12s, but that's just crazy.

All I can say is- for drifters of the other 1,000+ cars in Gran Turismo 5... go kick some Speed 12 tail!

i broke into the 60 rank on cape ring drift event in a 416 hp nissan S13, i then went back with my chaser and got 40. so its all about skill really, but im not going to hate on the cebreras, just because its going 40 mph, the rear end is still kicking out, and it is still in a controlled drift. But yea they are overused, like the evora.

But honestly, people act like it's easy to drift a speed 12, It's not at all that car is a beast..:scared:(tried and failed miserably..):sly:

I always do them with the 205 T16 and have a good amount of fun doing it, so I don't particularly care what the people who win the events do them with.

I think its stupid, but I honestly don't care and it doesn't bother me..As long as I get that gold and the $$$ I'm happy.

HAHA yea I dont care about getting high up in the ranks. But I can see how thats an issue.. its sorta like the cheaters on modern warefare it just makes the leader boards pointless. They should ban the speed 12 and the buick special or just add more restrictions.
Either way im sure I would still be near the bottom in the leader boards lol so I personally dont care.

I am sick of the speed 12 in the drift trials, I use a stock Dodge Viper any of the street ones and it works just right.

Speed 12 is easy to get sideways... Keeping it sideways is a different matter altogether... So easy to overcook it. The V8 Vantage on the other hand, sooooo easy to keep in a stable slide it's almost cheating. Which is why I love it...
With regards to them being banned, what's all that about exactly? Should they ban Usain Bolt from the 100m because he's much better than everyone else? Or maybe tie Lionel Messi's bootlaces together before he enters the football/soccer pitch? From what I can gather, PD scores drift on the amount of broken traction x 'correct' line x speed of drift. If a high powered brute can exploit those three rules then it's the car to use, surely?

It would be better if it was done like GT5 Prologue so each drift trial event is for a certain car and track. That would level the playing field and require more skill to get the higher scores.

Well , i don't care but it also makes me lose it i hate drifting because of that car and now i hate that car .
it should be restriction for PP for every drift trial .

You just said what I hoped someone would...exploit. You know everyone hated the R390 road cars in the TTs? Same damn thing. PD couldn't care less if I can hold a stable line in, say, the RX7 off the Recommended list, or an actual D1GP car, because a 1000+bhp rare supercar can wobble round in a cloud of smoke much faster. And just like the R390 in the TTs, this shameless exploitation means that people who use a 'sensible' car have no god damn chance of doing well at all. You are practically forced to drive a terrible overpowered piece of crap like the Speed 12 just to feel like you are good enough. Things like this can make the game a huge pile of 🤬 for anyone with a low self-esteem

i just use my s2000 with comfort hard. It is great to drift, and can get me 1000 above target. Anyways who would want to become top of the stack in terms of points?, i mean those sorts of people who play and play and play, but in the end will most likely get beat by someone else. Whats the point?

Honestly, I could care less what everyone else uses. I really just do them for the credits anyway. I have been using my E92 M3 20th Anniversary replica on CS tires. I know I'm crap at drifting, so I just go for gold and then continue doing the seasonals.

I got into the top 90 once awhile back in june with my stock lfa. the speed 12 is a cliche brick on wheel. that and the buick special.

The OP will also probably complain about Mclaren's and Nissan R390's in the time trial events
Actually I never see the R390s or McLarens in the trials 👍

Exactly ^ I agree never seen them used either. I think the reason the OP doesn't like the Speed 12 is it defeates the purpose of PD creating a leaderboard if it's going to be abused and not have a proper challenge.

That and the V8 Vantage. I usually can get gold with my 500hp RX7 or some AMG models, but nothing so unrealistic as a 1200hp Speed 12 going around turns in 4th gear at 40mph. That is not drifting. I'll never use the Speed 12, and thats why I'll never break into the top 10000 lol.

I think I got into the top 10000 or even top 5000 at Eiger a while ago using an FT-86 with CH tires (otherwise bone stock, right down to the oil) and less than 30min of trying IIRC. This is with a DS3.
