I got the Collector's Edition during Black Friday last year, and when I used the codes I got all the cars that came with them. When I played the game with my second account on the same PS4 yesterday, I got all of the cars on that account too. Even with those, you still get a car given to you by the game as your 'first' once it actually loads to the main menu.

I didn't see this clarified (probably overlooked it), is the starter car the one you received in the Open Beta (if applicable), or the one you received in the full release? I made note of both in my post just in case.

I think that, if it at all, only the car you get from first starting the full game would be relevant.


This bugfix update has come at an annoying time, but I'm going to choose to assume it doesn't affect the Marathon Roulette because there's no change to the content.

Yeah nothing appears to have changed except for the H pattern bug that's been a talking point as of late.

This is the most interesting GT related thing I've been involved in for quite some time :) ! Honestly, I just can't stop thinking about it. My hope is fading though regarding the diversity of growing car lists and seeing almost countless ways to generate patterns / algorithms.

Would you appreciate further help in any way, @Famine ?

Is there a way you can see the date on the acquired car? I usually record a video, but something messed up on the 5th and i cannot find confirmation except the daily millage and the sort by date option in garage..

Look into your profile through GT logo int the upper left corner, and check the graph in the middle, which shows you the mileage done on daily basis to sort out which days of the week you reached the marathon. Then check your garage from the home menu and sort it by day acquired and you can see which cars you've obtained in the last days. In case you bought some cars, on the bottom is a legend for color coded dots, which can tell you which cars you bought, or obtained as a dlc, or as a gift (not on ps, but I think it might be the blue dot). Then you can simply extrapolate which car you've been gifted on which day by cross checking the graph data and garage data. Today is 7th, so you have the graph from 1st. ^^ I hope this makes sense as I'm aware of not being good at explaining. :cheers:

So, @Famine ’s own data seems to suggest that you get the same starter car for all accounts on the same device. Other people’s alternate accounts however do not show that pattern.

So, was my assumption wrong (that the accounts were all on the same device), or is the jury not in yet on that subject...?

I would be interested mainly because I don’t know my starter car anymore, but if it was the same for other accounts on my PS4, it would be quite easy to find out.

I've checked my other accounts and they all have different start cars.
 
Last night, I skimmed thru this thread and found out that so far (after over 1250 gifts), our most frequently gifted car is the.....

VW Sambabus Typ 2 '62 :):):drool::drool: (14 times)

Second place is a tie between:

Mercedes SLR McLaren '09 (13 times)
Toyota FT-1 Vision GT GR.3 (13 times)

Its a little tough to be completely accurate on this count since some of the car names being listed could be referring to two possible cars.

Alter ego - Fiat 500 (once I saw it in the roulette, I was sure to get it here too) :lol:

Sooo, it is totally possible to get same car on one day on different accounts (and possible to get same starter car as @Famine got) :gtpflag:
 
I'm not sure if it makes any difference and/or if it's of any use to @Famine but I notice quite a few users have missed a day or a few days for various reasons and then not listed the cars they get when they "return" to GTS.

Personally, i'm listing all the cars I get since I've got back, partly because it's quite fun to do and because you never know if it might come in useful somewhere down the road.

Yep - I can't use any data with gaps in it just yet, because there's no way of knowing whether the list moves on a day with each calendar day or if it doesn't move on until you've completed the Marathon. That's why it's the second rule of the three/four rules listed.

If we can establish whether or not missing a day matters, I might be able to use the patchy data later on - but until we can, it's of no use. For those lists missing days out, I'm simply taking whatever is the longest, uninterrupted run of cars and discarding the rest.

Indeed. Best case scenario is every day, but I'll take whatever the longest unbroken run of DM cars is. I'd expect there to be an update around the 25th or so of April, which will change the number of cars in the game and end the project. That will means someone logging every day from the last update will generate a list of around 28 cars, but if you could only do 10 even that is useful. A chain of five is better than nothing, but statistically unlikely to be of much use, and anything less is probably indistinguishable from background noise.

I’ve noticed a few times that my Alt account has gotten either the same car or a very similar car as my main account on days where both accounts have gotten to spin the wheel.
