Arcade Mode - Class Specific racing?

The only certain match ups I can get are GT3 and gt500. Gt300 doesn't seem to work for me. I got rally cars in the mix. I also got close with prototypes but not complete. Would help if it differentiated between lmp and group c. However it's a major step in the right direction. I'll take it! Now pitstops and more than ten cars and I'm completely happy, more or less! By the way this is my first post here. Like the community! :-)

@Merlin59, Welcome :) Yeah the LMP / Group C sometimes throws in a random Escudo or Tajima but for the most part it seems consistent for me. Same goes with the GT300 races, haven't had any random rally cars as yet. There was a ninja update again last night so i tried some more arcade races just to make sure PD hadn't changed the matching lol. Had a great full GT3 grid at silverstone and a full GT300 grid at Motegi :)

Now all PD needs to do is add tyre wear, fuel usage and damage so we can recreate proper GT3, GT300, GT500 length races :) and our own mini enduros with LMP's :) *crosses fingers*

GT300 works for me with the BRZ.

Awwwwwww it's only certain race class cars that do this?? Man I was reading the OP and got pretty excited to get home and try out arcade mode... :( If arcade mode just had a class system for all of the cars and cash payouts that would be so awesome! I'm struggling to find fun races to do offline with a car that I want to drive. Having the game pick opponents based on my car selection instead of me having to pick a car and do adjusting to meet PP reqs in the career races would be SO nice.

I Yeah, it would be a dream come true...In the moment i am dreaming a little with the one class Red Bull Standard, less power than the opponents...

Ive done weather change during a GT3 Bathurst race. Even though we cant change tyres from slicks to wets, the cars are undriveable at about 29% wet. At 5%, I started to see a bit of spray when moving offline. The car became harder to stop and accelerate. It's going to be good racing with a full grid and pitstop.

@05XR8 If you have bought inters and wets then you an do a longer race with weather change and pit for correct tyres for the weather, the AI will. Something else i've noticed, is the surface % seems to relate only to the racing line. I've had wet races that have stopped raining and wetness has returned to zero, racing line is bone dry (no spray) but go offline and it's wet as anything less grip and spray. Would be interesting to test once PD gives us tyre wear etc in arcade mode if when running inters or wets and the surface wetness returns to zero your wear rate is reduced if you stay off the racing line where it's still wet?

I do agree with you @CeeJay, it would be great to have more control over your opponents, especially with normal road cars. But as has been said here this is a great start, an important step forward from PD, we never got this even in GT5, could only get "class specific" racing using the arcade loan cars, now at least you can use your own garage cars :)

Some basic things I do to make arcade more interesting are:
1. 1st lap is a warm up lap. I'll stay in last place until start/finish. Sometimes you'll get a super slow back marker however. I've even given the field a 1 minute head start on occasion.
2. Stock vehicles. I've yet to do an initial oil change even. Add driver's weight in ballast. All my cars have 75kg added.
3. No aids especially ABS.
4. Drive like it's a real life track day. Set up for clean passes, no dive bombing etc... AI is way too easy to bash.
5. Don't expect a "race" with the AI. It's still all about driving the cars, how they feel that sort of thing. I'll usually do a 11 lap race with 1st lap as a parade lap.

Just a little off-topic, if you use a car from your favourite list (or the vehicle you are currently using) does the mileage increases and/or the number of 'uses' on the car?
I want to keep some cars 'brand new' but I want to drive them as weel.

Bought the BRZ for GT300. Sure enough it worked and I got GT300 cars. Couldn't get it to work for the Mazda rx7 I already had. Oh well I like the BRZ anyhow. @ evillaugh- Did I understand your above post to mean that if I do changable weather that you can at least stop for rain or dry tyres? That would be a huge step! Does anybody know what I set time progression to, to simulate a 24 race? Thanks ahead!

@Merlin59 yeah, as long as you have inters and wets, if you set the weather to changeable and it begins to rain the ai will pit for the relevant tyre needed and you can too.would still better when pd add tyre wear fuel and damage but for now this has really made arcade mode worthwhile . i've worked out the time progression bar too. looks like the number is how many game minutes will pass for every one real life minute. so if you set time to 45 then 45 game minutes will pass every real life minute. so if set to 1 then it's realtime.

Thanks for clearing up the time progression thing. That makes sense now that you mention it. I agree whole heartedly about tyre wear, fuel and damage. This is more than we ever got in GT5 so I'll take it!:-)
Maybe PD is listening to us!

Arcade is and will always be worthless until you get paid for it.

Not true for me. Arcade mode was the only thing in GT5 that keeps me playing the game. Just because you were able to turn on mechanical damage (and other stuff) that was not possible in Career mode. And in GT5 I had all the cars and all the credits I could get anyway. So it was not making any sense to play for credits anyway.

Unfortunately in GT6 they reduced the option menu in Arcade. Very stupid decision.

So last night i decided to try my R8LMS Phoenix in an arcade race to see what the changes were (if any) after 1.04 and i found a nice surprise. All my opponents were GT3 class. Now this definitely never happened since GT6 launched (in fact even in GT5 you could only get class specific opponents by using the loan cars). So i decided to test it out just in case it was a fluke.

To my surprise every time i entered an arcade race in a GT3 car (incl my Anni SLS GT3) i had a complete grid of GT3 cars.

So then i tried other classes.

GT300: full grid (even when trying base cars and the loan BRZ GT300)
GT500: full grid of GT500 opponents.
Nascar: full NASCAR grid.
LMP: tried my 787 / C9 and got a full lmp grid with only one or two GT cars.
Tried my Bentley and Anni R18 however, and got a bit more of a mix - So not sure about this.
Tried the loan 908 and got a full "Le mans" style grid with LMP's and GT's (though there was a random Monster SX4)

Now this happened regardless of circuit (just in case for NASCAR this was locked to the ovals)

Has PD implemented some form of class specific matching for arcade mode? I really hope so because this has really made arcade mode a lot more fun and will definitely tide me over until they add 16 car grid, fuel usage and tyre wear :)

Has anyone else found this to be true?

Cheers :)
Had my break with GT6 forum, now finally some decent news. Thanks for pointing that out. 👍

Can I ask,

- How is AI difficoulty? Is there any way to make AI challenging for "pack racing" or "bumper racing" or "door to door" or whatever you call it?

- Can you race against base models? If so, are they painted or plain white?

Thanks in advance.

I did an arcade rally at eiger last night in the audi pikes peak car. Grid included a corvette RM, TVR RM , among other ill suited cars. One or two rally cars, but mostly FR muscle.

I do not believe running your car in Arcade mode adds miles to the car. I will double check tonight but I'm almost sure it doesn't. I only remember this because I was thinking the same thing, I'd driven a car in arcade mode by accident, I forgot it was a car I just wanted to keep in the garage with no miles on it (Yes I know it's a game and all that, I just get an ODC sometimes about this stuff in games! ) but when I checked it in the garage I'm almost sure it still said 0 miles.

I do believe the number of uses will go up though since you have to enter the car in the career mode section before you get to the arcade part.

No uses or mileages added, the car is still at 0/0 after a race in arcade mode

@HKSracer, the AI in arcade mode is a lot better than in career, as long as you go into the settings menu and change the AI slider to max (10). No last lap slow down to let you pass. I try to keep all my cars unmodified apart from inters and wets for the race cars so i can do weather races. This obviously does even things out a little more lol but still not super close pack racing unfortunately. It is a lot more fun and harder than career and now with at least the racecar classes properly represented as opponents, a hell of a lot better :) BTW i have a feeling PD has used the online car category selection behind the scenes to get this opponent matching in arcade mode?

I've had the base cars as opponents many times in both white and black, also i've been up against Anniversary cars too, even some anniversary cars i didn't get in my car pack o_O for example: i've had the R8LMS and GTR GT3 anni cars as opponents but i don't have those cars in my anni edition.

Ok, seems like AI in arcade mode is somehow acceptable now. But what about frame rate, I don't have GT6 yet because of it. I really really hate noticeable frame drops. What do you think?

More drops with time changes for sure. Certainly nothing that would make me want to put the game away. I'm enjoying GT6 more and more in Arcade. Had some very enjoyable runs using some old favorites the other night. Using CH tires with lower power cars-Alfas, Coopers and such.

There are drops in framerate depending on the track as well as with time change and weather. I have the impression that number of ai affect it too.

Hm, yesterday I saw the Gazoo 86 when I did a race in GT Arena using Civic RM/TC. I'll try to cause a DeltaWing to appear. :)

Any word on NASCAR classing? I tried an arcade race exactly once (in v1.02) and when I saw the disgustingly ridiculous grid I exited and have only done hotlaps and such since.

Sure would be nice if it were all NASCAR fields now...
